Player Suggestion Kwame Poku

If we’re flush with cash come January he’s one I’d be looking at. On fire at Peterborough this season, back to back player of the month awards and 13 G/A from the wing. The last player bought from Peterborough wasn’t so bad either.

What did he do in terms of numbers last year? My fear with this sort of thing is that the statistics that Peterborough had with Burrows in the side ought not to disappear completely and need to go in theory to someone else - which may well be this guy. If he did relatively little in a team with Burrows in 23/24, why do we think he would remain productive doing the same in 25/26?

18 G/A last season so he was decently productive with Burrows in the squad last year.

I did a one to watch thread over the summer highlighting players from lower leagues and young players to keep an eye on. Poku was one on the list. He's a cracking player and very strong for his short height. He'd be a greay signing for any Championship team. He stood out to me more than Burrows last season.

He had 11 goals and 7 assists in 34 games last season playing on the right side of a three pronged attack.

Ok, it sounds like he was kind of playing the other side and still doing enough, that's fine

Maybe even an international call up soon? Deserved a championship move this past summer and he’ll deserve a championship move in this upcoming one.

Poku would be a great signing but if we couldn't get him I would still like to see us go in for Ricky Jade Jones also from Peterborough

We are apparently after his team mate Ricky Jade Jones!

We tried for him in the summer but couldn’t get the deal done due to the takeover saga

The problem now apparently is he’s scored 8 goals and so he’ll be on the radar for other clubs now

RJJ isn't the quality we need. Miles off.
Poku is decent, but we already have three players for his position.

Rjj is on a free in the summer though. Even with a takeover I suspect we will look for good value when we can get it
He’s out of contract but he’s not on a free.

Still only 22, so they would be entitled to decent compensation though clubs tend not to let things get to tribunal these days.

Our M.O is clever. Done it a few times, show genuine interest, sign a teammate and have a chat with them when contracts run out. Signed.

With Peterborough being my local club, I get to see them quite often and knock around with loads of Posh fans. Poku is the real deal and could play for a Premier League / Championship club today, but he has the potential to play for a top-10 Premier side. Jade-Jones is the fastest player I've ever seen live and would shine in a front-footed side that likes to press. He'd be decent on the right of a front three with the ability to cut inside.

Still wouldn't mind a cheap deal for him now. But with all the other signings.... not likely

Cant see Poku coming because of injury but didn't Wilder also list JRS as potentially back for the Norwich game? If he goes back to palace in the meantime for treatment that's probably normal too.

We definitely need another winger option because without JRS we're really short in wide areas. Brooks isn't a winger really.

Would a Poku permanent and a JRS return be the worst thing in the World?

I like JRS. He's going to be a great player, but he's too inconsistent and drifts out of games to easily

Having both would be great obviously

Depends which gets fit first 🤷‍♂️
