White shorts are a ‘no’ from me. Always a possibility of the players not shaking properly and ending up with clear piss stains, even worse, if they ‘did a Wes’ the results would be shocking.

Women’s teams also don’t like white shorts for lady reasons.

I was one of them and I only voted for it cause I like the retro look of a solid square on the back for the number but there was no option for that!
I get that. But we used to do a solid background behind the black number back in the early 1990's and some of the eighties. Now it seems it's either a full solid back or stripes but the mbets difficult to read. I don't get it myself.

This white socks propaganda must end. Stoke and Southampton have white socks more than we do, don't they?

Stoke definitely. They have had White Shorts and Socks continuously since 1995, with the exception of 4 kits. Through the 80s they had red socks - but always White shorts

Southampton are similar to us, they mix it up and have had Red, White and Black socks over the years. They often scrap stripes altogether too:

This white socks propaganda must end. Stoke and Southampton have white socks more than we do, don't they? Somebody do some research into this. #BlackSocksMatter
Stoke don’t really come into it as they are White Shorts White Socks. They are instantly recognisable because of this as they are the only team with this combo.

Southampton had them mid 70s through the 80s then have them the odd time here and there, but they have Red, Black, Red and White hooped, Red and Black hooped socks in the last few decades they just love experimenting with their socks just as they do with their shirts.

There is no team in England with red and white stripes, black shorts white socks combo, like we wore for the majority of the 60s and all through the 70s, and here and there since. That is why I think we need to go back to white socks, make our kit instantly recognisable, claim it like we did in the 60s and 70s and have an identity.

Because let’s be honest it’s 2026 and we still don’t know our kit colours bar the shirt.

Black pin stripes are wank. Makes the kit look over designed cheap and tacky.

Oh and stripey backs also look cheap AND make the lettering/numbers awkward to see from a distance.

I like that we mix up having black pinstripes or not, always think we should have at least some black in most shirts, even if it's just on the trim or collar. Pinstripes on every single kit ever would get boring, but I wouldn't want us to totally abandon them either. Normally don't like red socks (especially not the horrible season we had red shorts as well) but they did look quite smart when we had them a couple of times under adidas. Never like white socks.

A stripy back is better for aesthetics obviously but I do understand the need to see player info

Fan version shirts would solve this but it seems we dont have that level of clout
