Notts County manager Keith Curle told BBC Radio Nottingham:
"They are big, strong and physical and are built for a confrontational game.
"They want toe-to-toe encounters all over the park and we need to be brave and make sure that when we need to go toe-to-toe we do so - probably in both boxes - but we need to stamp our authority on how we are going to play the game.
"There is a strength of unity within the group. We have a belief in the way we play football. You need to be able to deal with confrontation, but we can pass and move and avoid confrontation as well.
"We are gaining that belief because of the results we are getting."

Surely he does not really believe this? I know Doyle is back but he hardly plays all over the park.

it's going to take a while to get rid of the hoofball tag.. didn't we play you last year Keith?? remind me of the score again??

Is this going to be his first visit back since leaving the club?

Must confess I'd completely forgotten how it came about that he left. I had assumed he'd left us to become Mansfield manager, but looking at his history he appeared to go to Barnsley in 2002 - don't remember that at all. Good job he did go though, as Macca was his immediate replacement.

Yeovil comms last week were stating a physical presence.

Christ, its nothing compared to what we've had in the past few years...

Think about it... didn't Curle play in the battle of Bramall lane in perhaps one of our more physical and intimidating teams. Perhaps thats what he means...

Usual football cliche horseshit.

Against Yeovil we had a pretty tall team. Only McMahon, Hill and McAllister weren't six footers, but they're all strongish and competetive guys. If Curle is basing his comments on our last two games his comments are pretty accurate, but I'm sure our aim is to play more like we did last season.

Do you remember his hilariously bitter interview after the 5-2? Said that we didn't deserve credit for any of our goals as they were all gifts from his team.

But then Curle was never known for anything other than brutal fouls, crap coaching, and inadequate managing.:D:oops:

curle was a bully on the pitch, but has no credentials of management sucess against us as yet.
He`s living on warnock water that bloke-no style or manners.
Just pure cunt talk.

Back in the day, when NW was my mate, I got an invite backstage at BDTBL with the man and I took Musical with me. We went in the dressing room, and there stood KC, in the nip. Musical said to me, "I've seen Keith Curle's cock."

And that's my Keith Curle story. You 'eard.

pommpey

Fixed that for ya

Try harder Curle thats just so transparent. Interpretation of that load of shite is that they intend to kick us all over the park, then say after we started it. Just hope the ref in charge susses them early doors.

It is, but we've brought it upon ourselves, I'm afraid, by years of shameless ❤ of hoof. The mud sticks and too many of us (astonishingly) yearn for its return.

Curle is a deeply unpleasant and flawed individual who will achieve little or nothing in management.

I hated Curle's time at United. Can't think of a more sly and dirty player in all my time watching. :(

I always remember a game at the Lane when he was at Wolves. My Dad , who doesn't go much but is a good judge, said after 10 minutes that Curle should have been sent off for persistent foul play, he was finally booked in about the 89th minute. Horrible player and one I was disappointed we signed.

Nail on head.

Oh don't start that shit again

If ever a side matched the "style" of their manager.

Yep, spot on. Every time we went near them they fell over - because we are so physical and so dirty.

I remember Curle playing for us in an "entertaining" 4-3 victory over Portsmouth at the Lane. I remember him winding Crouch up to such a point that I thought he was going to burst into tears ! Crouch was subbed early doors before he completely lost it.

Also heard a story of him (from the landlady) "dancing on the tables" of his local on New Years Eve the day before we lost at home to Citeh (1-3 ?) on New Years Day. Wasn't he the captain back then ?

Also remember him kicking lumps out of West Brom players during "that game" - he was doing his best to get sent off along with the rest......

Not my favourite Blades player I must admit.

Called him a cheat to his face in Genting Casino tonight. He maintained Poker face and looked straight forwards.

How did you wangle tickets for the opening night party? Was it any good?
What did Jess think of the match, I presume she went?

I don't think tickets were that hard to come by as they even gave me some! Very nice place by the way, left 50 notes to the good :)

I've met Keith Curle a few times at work, and personally he is a very decent fella, and someone who is approachable and you can have a decent conversation with.

I've met quite a few famous footballing folk, and Keith Curle is up there alongside John Duncan and Neil Shipperley as the nicest blokes.
