CONFIRMED John Egan leaves the Blades

It's always nice to say a few words after someone leaves the club.

So, I've a few words for McBurnie, he was wank, couldn't strike a ball cleanly, and couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo - piss poor scoring record. Never fully fit, and when he was, his disciplinary record was terrible. Off the field he was pretty objectionable too.

He will make a good centre half for someone.

If anyone says "But where will the goals come from" - they never came from McBurnie when he did play.

Good riddance

Do you trust that this ownership offered them decent terms?
Do you know anything about those deals to know if they were “decent” or not? What would be decent at this stage of their careers and recent appearances.

Where's the dislike button still FFS.
That big lazy bag of shite is the WORST signing in my 65 years as a supporter.
If you are Jebbison, sat on the sidelines while McDonkey plays with foot injuries and illness (v Hull City 0-0 draw) and the clown manager wants to sign him again you are off as quick as your legs can carry you. About twice as fast as McDonkey.
The poor mans Wayne Allison. But not as nice in any way.
I fear he will NOT leave as no one with brains would sign him.
But then again managers and coaches seem to have the brains of a dog turd with players and tactics.
Amen brother.

100% this

Sentimentality aside, we were shite last season, and none of those four players were even fit for it all anyway. We need to make changes and move on or we’ll continue in the same vein.

With my sentimental hat on, I’ll miss Egan, McBurnie and even Osborn to some extent. Jebbison I couldn’t give two fucks about.

Here’s a quote that I think is appropriate:

“Don’t be sad that it ended, be glad that it happened.”

None of them were decent enough for them to believe they couldn’t get better terms elsewhere.

So you know the details? Signing fees, length of contract - a big thing as players get older. Surely you must know the takeover details. Spill beans instead of disguised vitriol 😀

They were offered deals but saw what happened to other players and thought sod it.

Naaaah, he isn't leaving.
For the last 6 weeks Ramble Blade has said we have a 1yr extension option.

The terms weren’t decent enough for those players to not believe they could get better elsewhere. Do you disagree with that?

Clue - you don’t need to know the details of the offer to answer this question.

Maybe they wanted first team football and weren’t looking at that here. Maybe the money was less important. Maybe like me, you don’t know their reasons but put it all down to one single reason.

Just out of interest:-
Does anyone (on here) know the prognosis re Egan’s injury.
How many folk would frothing & foaming if we signed a (replacement) c/h with his (immediate) cv ?
To assist contemplation you could always reflect on attitudes & opinions regarding Davies ?!?

We’ve got 16 players under contract Sean, we’d probably guarantee Doris the Tea Lady minutes if she takes a pay cut.

My view is the players have refused the terms because they think they can get better elsewhere. You can’t possibly comment. Not much more to say.

I’m not overly bothered about losing Egan, Mcburnie, Ozzie, Baldock, Norwood etc. All fantastic servants to the club and a huge influence at the club during the height of our recent success. But all had their limitations and to me are all champ standard players.

I think for us to evolve and improve we need new players. More technical ability, more athleticism, more creativity. Problem is that costs a lot of money. I also don’t trust wilder to recruit those types of players. Lots to potentially get wrong.

I’m also a little stressed out that they have all gone at once instead of staggered with now a threadbare squad. That first signing can’t come soon enough.

Ha ha. Doris.

You manage to say the same thing over and over again. At least can admit l’m short on info as a reason why any opinion l may have has a huge weakness.

Mcburnie's the big one really. Big £ to replace no matter his real/perceived limitations.. Even with a bottomless put you'd have to factor in financial fair play when looking at the number of players we need.

It's revolution no matter the cause.
Fair point but you'd have to trust Wilder (I know I know) and his staff who know how banged up McBurnie's body is and what his lifestyle/habits are....

Same with Egan. If they know he'll never be the same player following this injury, then it makes sense.

Obviously the optics are horrendous but I can fully support both decisions.

Last season - they’re all fuckin shit gerrem off
Today - Fuckin hell can’t believe we’re letting them go😂

Now we’re having a clear out the bedwetters are pissin em sens as though a title winning side is been dismantled in its prime

Egan - was a great defender but only played 6 games last season, was getting caught out before that as age took its toll
Osborn - likeable lad, but we’d all run about a lot for that money, as a footballer, meh
Jebbo - 2 goals in 30games, had a contract and not signed it, not very good, no loss
McB - still in negotiations apparently, but are we really fuckin stressing over a forward with 26 goals from 146 games? Divides fan base with injury record, giving away endless free kicks and been a bit of a dick off field

Fresh ideas, fresh mentality unscathed by last season and for those fannies, we will put out a team on day 1, give your head a wobble

I imagine we’re all on tenterhooks to see if you pluck up the courage to volunteer one.

What with George and no John, feel like bursting into tears…..

I understands the reasons but it still hurts to see them gone….

We really are clearing the decks, we HAVE to have got major investment for a clean sweep, because if not we’re totally fooked!!

To be fair to Doris, she's got a better fitness record than Brewster, and more heart than Max Lowe, and more technical ability than Grbic - Gerrer in

I imagine we’re all on tenterhooks to see if you pluck up the courage to volunteer one.

I’d venture the opinion you’re the only one who cares. Even an opinion should be based on at least some knowledge rather than just an agenda.

Anyhow, thought you had nothing else to say?

You can fuck of with your facts…..

I'm sad Egan's leaving, last link to the 18/19 promotion team and a great servant to the club. I think he's been underrated by some of our fans too.

But, I understand why potential new owners might see this as a poor investment. There's no resale value and there have been worrying reports on his ability to get fit. For the wage he'd likely command and the rebuild required, United need more of a 'sure thing'. His influence on the club might be harder to replace than his play.

A hearty GLTTL and I'll miss having him around but, as an individual decision, I get it.
