I do have serious concerns about what our squad will look like by the start of the season.
I don't know what the current situation regarding Egan's injury is but assuming he'd be fit for the start of the season, I don't understand the logic in letting him go.
As Rodley said, he's going to be difficult to replace and I don't see the point in spending >£5m on someone who probably won't be as good.
It seems fairly typical standard practice by the club to let players contracts run out and I can only assume that contract talks reached an impasse because the club clearly offered nowhere near what Egan wanted, otherwise he would have announced he was leaving weeks ago as others did.
So now we face the reality of paying a hefty transfer fee AND paying the wages of a newcomer who might not be as good.
Seems like a shortsighted way of running the club to me.

Just Robinson left from the team that finished 9th o_O
Good too, time they moved on. The club needs change because most.of em have been here for a long time & they got stale or injury prone for my liking. We as a club need to move on because dwelling on what certain players did for us is all in the past, i'll not be losing any sleep that's for sure.

I'm hoping the silicone valley investors are Disney as it's the only way to explain how we've become such a Mickey Mouse club so quickly.

We are a shambles.

No players offered contracts are signing the deals offered. We're not signing players because we don't have money to spend until we sell the utter shite we've got and because the new owners, who don't own us, won't sanction any signings.

We are at genuine risk of being in another relegation fight with League One beckoning.

An ownership with deep pockets and huge ambitions would get all the players on big wages without a long term future at the club out of the club asap. It'd be one year with a club option one year extension maximum. The only thing that would temper that approach is needing a bit of experience and continuity and financial fair play. That's my optimistic outlook on this.

It should go without saying: thanks and good luck, John Egan - Blades legend! 🛐

So McBurnie gone too. Ffs. Can we have some fucking good news?

Mcburnie's the big one really. Big £ to replace no matter his real/perceived limitations.. Even with a bottomless put you'd have to factor in financial fair play when looking at the number of players we need.

It's revolution no matter the cause.

Egan is the only one I will miss of those- top man and a great defender in his prime but the injuries have taken their toll and I’d like to see us have a more mobile defence.
Jebbison, I liked and saw some potential in him but he obviously wants to move on so 👋.
It’s an interesting time, ripping it up and starting again. Things couldn’t stay the same, it needs a root and branch clear out from the very top down.
New owners, new management and coaching staff and a total squad overhaul. I get the pace of the latter may be of concern to some but I for one, am excited about seeing something new.

I came to post about Egan then see the news that McB & Jebbo are done too!
As for Egan - a new deal on a bad injury isn’t good business so can understand him going. He’s been a great player for the club & GLTTL for wherever he goes.
McBurnie - I liked him but question marks over whether he can stay fit enough or be good enough often enough.
Jebbo - meh.
The next 2 months - takeover or not - are going to be a nervy old time.

Weren't Mcburnie, Egan and Jebbison offered new deals (we know that Jebbo definitely was)?

If so then all three of them have rejected those deals and clearly wanted to move on.

If that is true then good luck to them in the future and thanks for the years they gave us, but we need players who are committed to being here, not one's who won't sign contracts.

Hi Stegosaurus here

Big mistake letting Egan go. He's not PL standard, but we're not PL any more. He'll be good in the Championship. Baffling to let him go, we're not exactly going to be able to sign someone his standard on the cheap.

He's signing for a Prem side you donut.

I would hazard a guess that the contracts we offered didn’t meet their expectations?

Also there is a lad on a free from across the city we'll get for free. Going to go down a storm over there when it happens. Ex Chelsea and used them as a stepping stone.

Do you trust that this ownership offered them decent terms?

All the best Egan was a rock for us at times but time to move on. Looking forward to seeing a new team assembled

Terms what this ownership thinks they are worth upon relegation, I'm half and half about that.

But if what we have offered them is reasonable and they might be wanting more money, sometimes it's just better to let them go, show that a players demands (which may or may not be unreasonable) are not bigger than the club.

Losing McBurnie is a big problem. That was the only one that mattered

Hopefully it isn't final with him and h re-signs once there's some certainly around the club
Mcburnie contract talks are ongoing it's just not said in that short snippet. I thought the same as you. The full statement is on the website.

There best be more of a tribute than one paragraph to John Egan because he deserves a much longer tribute than that.

There was no mention either whether Egan was offered a deal but guessing he wasn't based on media reports.

Where's the dislike button still FFS.
That big lazy bag of shite is the WORST signing in my 65 years as a supporter.
If you are Jebbison, sat on the sidelines while McDonkey plays with foot injuries and illness (v Hull City 0-0 draw) and the clown manager wants to sign him again you are off as quick as your legs can carry you. About twice as fast as McDonkey.
The poor mans Wayne Allison. But not as nice in any way.
I fear he will NOT leave as no one with brains would sign him.
But then again managers and coaches seem to have the brains of a dog turd with players and tactics.
