Nick Montgomery was my first thought.
A good shout to be fair, we had quite a few players from the Warnock era although not naturally gifted footballers, their availability for selection was constant and didn't miss many games due to injury and when they did play it was for the full 90. I don't know if having more subs has changed the mindset of players or if there has been a shift in conditional thinking. I remember that interview post match against 'Boro about Phillips when Wilder said he was due to play 60 mins but continued to 75 or so. Yes he was just coming back into playing football, I am not an expert but I would expect an ex-England international and Man City squad player albeit not playing for them still be fit enough to be able to put in 90 minutes at Championship level. We seem to have certain players that do have that 60-70 minute ceiling which when you look at their work rate and heat maps they aren't putting in constant effort for that time. I wouldn't mind so much if they were running around like a headless chicken like Monty did at times for 70 mins and putting in a performance we used to have a squad full, that could do that apart from maybe Shipperley.

Feels weird to say it but Chris Morgan would be a £30m defender in todays game. Rarely missed games, never missed a header, massive shit house. He walked so Arsenal's current back line could run 😂

Being the age that I am the early to mid 2000s were "my team" although there are club legends of the 70s etc they were a bit before my time and it is people like Morgs, Kozzy, Monty and Bromby that yeah they weren't great but they still gave people a game. I would hate to see Morgs name on the opposition team sheet as a striker, you would know you were in for a tough afternoon and it used to be fun to watch. I still had the fun of the team with Billy but 25/26 team was hard to connect with apart from a couple. I don't need them kissing the badge but earn your wage at least.

I know you’re personally offended if anyone criticises Cwissy but your argument is undone by the sheer number of videos/photos online of our players in pubs, bars and restaurants. FFS you can go in the hotel an hour after the game and meet at least half a dozen of them.

One of the reasons Selles and his staff were so unpopular with the players is that they immediately put a stop to it and expected players to behave professionally and look after themselves.

It’s not like it costs any money either. Look at Rochdale’s end to the season, they’ve been promoted based on their performance in the last 15 minutes of games and have gone to the well when it really matters. Our fans leave at 75 minutes because they know (as evidenced by Balham) they if we’re losing the game is over, even if we’re winning there’s a fair chance we throw it away.
I bet youre a right laugh on a night out, if you ever did.
As for players going in the hotel after a game most go to meet family members before journeying home , surely we need to put a stop to that ,or are they all on barley wine and doubles ?

Bad though Sellés was, only one of the 12 goals conceded on his watch came in the last 15 minutes

Anyone who starts a sentence "Bad though Selles was....", can't pretend they don't have their own agenda.
Are you in any way suggesting, that Selles performance was superior to Wilder's?

I'll just remind you, that in our 137 year history, NO OTHER permanent manager has a 100% loss record.

It’s weird I have met Morgs a few times since he retired. Massive he is not. Think his general toughness made him appear ‘taller’ than he actually was. Reckon he would be about 20cm smaller than most current premier centre backs. The game really has moved on

The agenda is yours and yours alone. The post you've selectively quoted states that Sellés was bad and that his tactics were lunatic. I'm not sure how much more unequivocal you want me to be?

The point is that our fitness got worse over the season despite the third return of the messiah. I suppose he can do in 6 weeks of pre-season what he couldn't in 32 weeks of the season, which included four international breaks?

Morgan was (probably still is?) 1.78m or 5'10. There are virtually no professional players in central defence shorter than 1.85m (or 6'1") now. The gap isn't quite what you suggest but what is beyond doubt is that a player with Morgan's lack of pace would be horribly exposed these days.
