He’s published about 20 pieces of different transfer news this morning. But what a fucking donkey he tweeted Connor Roberts was a left back not a right back and it took him 25 minutes to correct himself! Unbelievable.
 
Yeah Nixon gets a lot of lower league stuff correct but for us? Don't recall him breaking much that turned out to be correct.
 
LondonBlade89 did he break these? Maybe these are rare occasions he got them first but he's far more hit and miss than people who focus on him think.

Pete O'Rorke seemed to be genuinely itk when it came to us but doesn't seem to be a journo anymore.

Posting the hits is only really relevant if you also post the misses, no?

I'd be interested to know how many times he's mentioned us versus how many times he correctly called a transfer for us.
 
It does stand to reason that, as a football journalist at one of the countries best-selling newspapers, specialising primarily in the transfer market, its likely he does have some insight.

Agents will be using his platform to generate interest in their clients in an attempt to drive demand. This means he will be fed a lot of bullshit, but probably chooses to post when he thinks something he's been told sounds plausible. He'll have sources that are reliable and sources that aren't.

I'd lean towards believing him in most instances, whilst also understanding not everything he says will transpire to materialise (for aforementioned reasons).

Of course, he is also there to drive paper sales and grow his own brand so the more cynical may think it's all bullshit. I don't. I think there's enough activity out there that he wouldn't have to rely on his own creativity too often to generate stories.
 
I can believe in getting information by specific agents and clubs but a one domineering “itk” for every club in the country is too much for me to believe. Most people of this sort are IMO glorified news aggregators. Outside of local press papers and RC transfer coverage for the Blades is largely rubbish.

If you think I’m going to sit here and compile Alan Nixon’s list of hits and misses, or hunt down who in fact broke those Luke Freeman, Callum Robinson and Oli McBurnie stories, then crack on and enjoy the wait. I just think people calling him out as someone who doesn’t know what he’s talking about is ridiculous. It’s not like I know the bloke or even like The Sun.

I wasn't asking you to compile any kind of list. I was just pointing out that citing hits without misses is a little redundant.

Benefit if hindsight always makes sense of past intentions.......you simply don't know until you try. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. At least our management attempt to find players with obvious talent, often it's not enough but does that mean we stop trying to find players who might improve our squad strength, of course not. We're not alone in this, it's standard practice for clubs who never stand still......and under Wilder that seems to be a basic principle where he's concerned.
 
Regardless of source I hope we sign all three of Worrall, Roberts and Cash. Would massively improve the quality and average age of the squad.

How about swapping two Freeman’s (Freemen?) for Cash and Worrall plus a few million ?

First Osborn, then rumours about Cash, now Worrall. Surely the best thing to do is just buy Nottingham Forest Football Club outright and then we can have who we want?

Ok so dont shoot the messenger here... but i cannot believe i am reading this now, as i may actually have some ITK info for once in my life!

Saw this geezer in a full Burnley tracksuit in a coffee shop in Nottingham chatting to his pals, and i only got a couple of glimpses to his table, but i swear it was Ben Gibson, he seemed to have a tan and stood out a bit from the other pale Notts folk and definitely didnt look like some Burnley nut who decided to wear his full training gear 100miles south, so this Worrall rumour would make complete sense, unfortunately for us

Burnley would be getting a really good player in Worrall, I think he'll prove a good signing.
He's one I'd like for us to go for, but ultimately with how good Basham has been, the timing isn't good for either party.
