Confirmed seen in Copthorne this week with Knill & Chrissy
Not for me. He is now 26, been at Hillsborough for quite a while, and yet unable to tie down a place in a poor Championship team.Lucas Joao would be worth another look![]()
and French second division nobodies with ‘potential’Even if we spent say 15 million on player season like Bowen and Robinson etc ..
They’ll be resaleable so it’s not money down the drain
Just don’t sign 30 odd has beens
FF?We're after Kasey Palmer, Harry Wilson, McBurnie and obviously Henderson. Lolley wasn't mentioned but he'd be a great signing. There's another one who we're monitoring but I'll not mention his name because nobody would believe me![]()
Football Focus is no longer on TV now that the season is over.
Players mentioned who I wouldn’t want us to sign for the Premier League:
Jarrod Bowen
Callum Robinson
Not good enough, any of them. Championship players, the lot of ‘em. We need better. If we simply sign good second-tier players we’ll revert to being a good second-tier team.
Not sure Bowen or Robinson are a good fit with our system?John Fleck, George Baldock, Enda Stevens all signed from lower leagues....
Both the players you mentioned will play in the Premier League.

He definitely isn't.Think he's being tongue in cheek mate, the second list he recommends also all played in the second tier last year. Well I hope so anyway.

Not being contentious Scooter, but the players in question have still to prove they're equipped to play at Prem level. Naturally I hope they do well, but in a few months we'll discover who's good enough and who isn't.
I agree but I'd move Bowen and Phillips to list B.Players mentioned who I wouldn’t want us to sign for the Premier League:
Luke Freeman
Lukas Jutkiewicz
Lucas Joao
Jordan Rhodes
Adam Reach
Jarrod Bowen
Callum Robinson
Kalvin Phillips
Nick Fucking Montgomery.

Players who are likely (in my view) to be good enough and will only get better with us.
Dean Henderson
Neil Maupay
Ollie McBurnie
Kieran Dowell
Joe Lolley
Che Adams
Kasey Palmer.
Tufty, of course, will be after some but not all of the above and also some that none of us have even thought of. He won’t be interested in Lee Fucking Gregory.
I’ll back Wilder, One-Knill and Mitchell to get it right. They are plotting our future as we speak:

Ahh, but these players weren't championship players either.
And they proved they were able to compete with the Championship's best. I'm not suggesting that they don't get a chance, just that the demands of the Prem will be harder than any other division. We'll all be wiser within a few months.
Oh indeed, but his reasoning that if you buy lower league players, you end up a lower league team is clearly incorrect.

Some players may be in a lower league but with the capacity to step up. That’s the basis in which I’ve separated the the ones I think can from the ones I think can’t, rather than which League they are currently in. Otherwise my second list would be completely at odds with my terms of reference and I would be suggesting only Premier League players.
Maupay, Palmer and McBurnie for example, are all only 22 and bristling with potential. Imagine them in a couple of years. Contrast Freeman who is 27. Someone would have noticed by now if he were good enough for the Premier League.
I’ve seen Kalvin Phillips a few times. Not impressed. He looks well short of the required standard to me. If we must look at Dirty Corrupt Leeds, Tyler Roberts is a superior player.
Whilst I agreed with the majority, surely the likes or Bowen and Robinson fall into the same category and have performed well despite playing for the lesser performing clubs.

Yes, just my personal opinion as to which are on the right side of the dividing line.
On the few occasions I’ve seen Robinson this (last) season he looked well short of his standards from the season before.
As for Bowen he seems to be the current ‘player in vogue’. He looks pretty ‘nowt special’ on my admittedly limited observations of him. I suspect people are substantially overrating him when I read expressions like ‘heaven’ at the thought of signing him. Anyway, he’s a winger isn’t he?
My number one target would be Maupay. He’s a real talent. He can play up front and just behind, giving us flexibility in addition to his other obvious qualities.
Palmer hasn’t done enough at any of his loan clubs to say he could do it in the fucking prem.
Moving to upfront I think we should be looking at someone like Maupay as you say and someone who is not an out and out striker like Robinson, Bowen, Murphy (Cardiff, winger but can play up top) there are going to be games where we can’t play 2 strikers
He's the obvious choice, however I reckon they'd be wanting north of 15m
Robinson would have had at least 20 goals had he not missed 4 months through injury. He's been outstanding and wouldn't cost as much as players who are no better. Very flexible player too so definitely worth signing for me.
Maupay and McBurnie would cost at least £30m combined. That's really pushing it. One or the other surely, McBurnie for me.
As for age, different player types develop at different times. 'Brain' players like CBs and Duffy types (Freeman) are more likely to keep developing well beyond their mid 20s. Identifying some later developers is a way we can be smart and stretch our budget.
I would have thought Forest would ask a lot more than £10m?Mail said:Aston Villa will begin their preparations for the Premier League by bidding £10m for Nottingham Forest's 26-year-old English forward Joe Lolley.
