The only “advantage” is ironically his injury record in potentially putting off sides. His time in the Premier League as a signing is possibly limited with him turning 30 this year. The main type of competition wages wise will likely come from either a newly promoted side to the Premier League or one that has dropped. If he is part of the longer term plans stick a 2 year with option for 3rd on the table

One was suspended, another picked up an injury in the first half on Saturday. Other than that, Bindon, Seriki, Brooks, Riedewald, Peck and Tanganga are all good Championship players and were all picked. Sadly, they were surrounded by some shite and they aren’t well managed.

I can see him been on a decent whack if he’s come down from the PL and I can see why the club would be looking to trim the wage bill when they’ve got Arblaster, Peck, Matos & Rothwell into two positions.

He’s been good for 60-75 mins, the gamble is whether we can replace him with better during the summer.

With a full preseason behind him, he could be a huge asset.

Equally, I'd get it if he doesn't fancy it as I wouldn't be surprised if he has better offers.

Rather us move on Rothwell & matos to keep him.

I would also sell Peck (most likely to bring us most money) to try and reinvest, can always get a decent box to box midfielder in championship.

Id also sell Hamer if he wont sign a new contract to bring in a proper out & out LW.

In one of the most frustrating seasons I can remember, we should never forget that we pulled off two of the canniest free transfers in years, with Riedewald and Bamford.

We have tied one of them down for a bit, so let's hope we can with the other, because they are terrific players to build a new team around at this level.

He didn’t come from the premier league - his deal at Palace ended in August 2024.

Riedewald was signed on a short term deal in October after being without a club for 3 months, which was extended back in December until the end of the season. In terms of earners at the club, he’ll be absolutely no-where near the top.

What is it with everyone these days going on about this magical pre season. Jairo joined us in October, he's had 5 or 6 months to get fully fit yet can still only do 60 mins. That points to underlying fitness problems, I reckon 4 weeks pre season training would make no difference.
