Ismaila Coulibaly

Another chance & anymore big mistakes we should get rid asap - made two big errors tonight that could have ruined one of our best performances I’ve seen for a looong time.
Harsh. With the performances of Bash, Osborn, JR and Doyle, one of tonight's lessons should be not to write off players too soon.

Are you for real? The one where Lowe volleyed the ball into Robinson's arm from less than a metre and where Robinson's arm was in a natural position? That one?

There is no way that Leigh Doughty would have turned down the opportunity to give Wrexham another spot kick if there was even the slightest possibility of it being the correct decision. He didn't get many calls correct but that one was spot on.
Belated but it was also a penalty

Our fans do this a lot. I've not seen anything overly impressive from Coulibaly but this is his first start in English football against one of the best teams in England. He didn't look out of place. Panicked on the shot (remember Jebbo did something similar) and made one bad error but otherwise pretty steady and tidy.

We need to understand that young players will make mistakes. They will be inconsistent. They will make bad decisions. Because football is learned as much as coached. If we give young players a chance we need to give them a chance.

I agree that I've yet to see anything that makles me think he'll be anywhere near our starting 11 when everyone is fit, but he's what, 21? He did OK, without doing anything outstanding, but you are dead right that we need to be patient with these lads.

I was more impressed with Brooks tonight, who is only 19 and put a right shift in. He needed subbing 10 minutes earlier in my opinion as he looked shattered. Plenty to come from him I think.

Assuming one was missing the one on one, what was the other?

If Coulibally's contract is up in summer he'll be off anyway as won't get a work permit in the UK

Ridiculous comment, absolute nonsense.
The kid is developing and coming back from a nasty injury and you’re going to get ups and downs with him. He looks technically very tidy, very quick feet and keeps the ball moving. Not seen him crash into a big tackle yet, but he seems to prefer to nick the ball away with speed and reading of the game.
If we go up then a championship loan would do him the world of good.

Mostly neat and tidy, quite composed, not particularly athletic. Looked shattered when he came off. Probably not at full capacity yet,

Show your working?
He's hardly played, how is he getting a work permit? He'd only have it until his contract runs out.

He's playing in the English second tier but played like 5% of games and isn't a full international.

He was outside the box and bizarrely kicked the ball out of play with a terrible cross to nowhere. Annoying in an attacking position!

I felt that was a real waste, however accept I probably had my ‘wet mattress’ tinted glasses on, can’t remember if it was before or after the made 1on1 procrastination .

Possibly just better as a “defender” however it’s in our DNA for the back line to move up requiring other skillzzzz, so my opinion unfortunately is still…..

Loan or Sell.

Our fans are very selective at who gets cut some slack and who doesn't.

Basham gave the ball away in dangerous areas on at least 3 occasions to my recollection.

They didn't score so it hardly gets a mention. The new foreign lad fluffs a chance in a tidy if unspectacular performance and we're having fans say 'get rid'. Remember when Iliman came on at Leicester? He hardly touched the ball. Glad we didn't get shut!

You should maybe look at the 'Bash' thread. Not all fans.

Or the rest of the team played so well tonight his two small errors became more obvious with no micro aggression or unconscious racial bias in sight. Either way, Gerrim Out asap, not premier league quality 😂

There's definitely something about him, tries the unexpected too, he has a future in the game for sure. Tidy touches, lack of composure and some erratic things. Expect the same from any talented youngster without hardly any minutes in this level. He's very promising definitely at our level. To write him off as a footballer is just disingenuous. Needs some minutes though or he just walks due to not getting a work permit.

He runs like David McGoldrick 😂 good player though, I like him

Thought he was great. Looked composed and had a great first touch. If he was a Sheffield lad straight out the academy we’d be spaffing so much we’d look like Ash from Alien.

First proper start against fucking Spurs. Had a knee op in the summer and is playing in a completely different environment.

Well done.

Young lads will make mistakes.but you can't say get shut of talent for that. We kept Spurs on 0
So no harm done and he and other young lads get some vital experience

I read some of these replies and I must be watching a different game. Miss aside I thought he had a very good game. He’s a young lad who looks very composed on the ball and doesn’t mind getting stuck in. Basically the kind of midfielder we are always looking for. Liked the look of Brooks as well , again aside from trying to play them clean through 😀

With no slight on him when we have a fully fit squad he'll rarely make the bench

Still only 22, think he's much better suited sitting deeper and breaking up play. Think some posters on here are just negative so they can have interaction.

I agree with this. He seems to get a bit confused when he gets in advanced positions, but looks very solid and tidy on the ball in a holding role.

Like you say, loads of time in front of him to develop though. I would like us to keep hold of him and get him a loan in the champ next season, assuming we go up.
