Ismaila Coulibaly

I agree with this. He seems to get a bit confused when he gets in advanced positions, but looks very solid and tidy on the ball in a holding role.

Like you say, loads of time in front of him to develop though. I would like us to keep hold of him and get him a loan in the champ next season, assuming we go up.
He's scored more goals in the Belgian 1st division than Berge playing for a lesser side, although I have no idea what sort of position he was playing in at the time, but still definitely a player in there.

Did ok

No more no less

I expected more based on some of the hype tbh - thought he was quite insignificant. Brooks was marginally better .

This is not slagging them off - just an observation .

Hecky pulled off a minor miracle last night . His back 5 were outstanding and meant that the midfield didn’t need to be that good , that said Doyle was good enough for the tactics to be carried through - add in Spurs were woeful

Defence was unreal, was worried when Kane came on but apart from one header he didn’t get a sniff.

i thought both did well and great prospects for the future slightly different types of players brooks looks composed and coulibally tries things a little bit different you could see the lad was gutted coming off at half time about the chance he missed and it was noticeable that it was him who illiman ran to after scoring the goal never expected this result know spurs were terrible but thats taking a bit away from our lads who wanted it more than their players and were fantastic the whole 95 minutes

Has ability as a midfield stopper, but this lad seems bone idle. Needs to put much more of a shift in to get a shirt. Please don’t tell me ‘that’s his style’.
He played well. Your family (you included) seem to like to post negatives 1 min before kick offs or during games. (Against a top 4 club)

Strange.

He was okay, better in possession than out of it, Baldock and Bash spent a lot of time telling him where he needed to be positioning wise.

You’ve got a bee in your bonnet but it’s flattering. You missed the posts of praise I gave Bash, Anel and Doyle on the same evening.

And you’re in the minority who thought Coulibaly played well. The point stands, whether we’re playing Micky Mouse or Spurs. He’s got ability but needs to get fitter and work harder.

It’s a forum, people have views. My lad stated his and has (rightly) had a dressing down for it. All part of the learning experience. You should try it.

I thought he ran to Brooks - but I was about as far away as it was possible to be

Thought he was great. Looked composed and had a great first touch. If he was a Sheffield lad straight out the academy we’d be spaffing so much we’d look like Ash from Alien.

First proper start against fucking Spurs. Had a knee op in the summer and is playing in a completely different environment.

Well done.
Agree, I was impressed considering he's only had an hour against a non league team. I really thought we were going to get mauled but he was fine and got his foot in on occasion and kept possession most of the time. We were playing top four of the prem, what did people expect from him?

Doesn't he deserve a run of games to see what he's about at least? We've been paying him a wage for 3 years and our midfield is dire...

That three in middle need a rocket or a slap across the face to wake them up. As soon as an opposition player runs at them they quickly pass the ball off, for someone else to do the hard work. Get your head down and take a man on instead on the easy way out of just passing the ball away to pad your stats.

That makes no sense at all Robbie. It would make sense if we had a performing midfield but we have been poor since the WC.

Berge's had about 1 good game in 15?
You seem to think any player who plays for Sheffield United is good enough to play in a Championship side currently in second? I get your point about a change but it's hardly the ideal time to give a young player a chance unless that young player has been showing in training that they're ready.

However badly you think our midfield and team are doing, we've lost to the teams currently in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. 3 of those by one goals. In games where we didn't deserve to win but we were hardly getting thrashed or significantly outplayed. There are hundreds of midfielders worse than Berge in the football league. Hundreds.

I get the call for a change or to freshen things up but throwing a young player in who might well not be ready and expecting them to play well from the get-go is a huge risk.

It's the wrong time of year to give someone a run of games to see what he's about!
well if we dont give other players a run we aint going up cos were not getting automatic playing norwood fleck and berge every game its our only hope of grabbing glory from the depths of despair ps fleck shouldnt start another game for us hes gone

The thing that really fucked me off about Fleck on Saturday was when he kicked the ball into touch for about the fourth time, and instead of holding his hand up or looking pee'd off with himself, he smiled a big fucking cheesey grin. Like he didn't give a fooook

I get your point but I suspect it's easier to try and get the current players back to better form than new players up to speed

thats not going to happen with fleck though hes finished as a championship player imo plus we havent got time to get them back to form give others a chance and i include jebbison and osula in that equation

Fine against Watford.

Look, I'm not a fan of his but he's not as terrible as some are making our. That said, he should be a bench warmer for most games

i see what your saying but fleck just isnt the player we need in midfield at this time his only role for me at this time is coming on for the last 10/15 minutes to protect a lead he cannot start again this season weve got better

I'm not sure McAtee, Osborn or Doyle on the left hand side have been consistently good.

Shame we couldn't sign O'Brien.

It's a balancing act. For the last 2 seasons, it is obvious to the majority, that Norwood & Fleck cannot play in the same 11 anymore, as neither have the pace / ability to go forward or back with any degree of effect. This allied to Berge's current complete lack of form / effort / frustrating ability (delete as appropriate) ((or perhaps all 3 currently apply)) means the last 2 Saturday's midfield selection of all 3 together is beyond belief. This not only leaves the defence exposed, but also the forward line isolated. A moblie midfield gives support to both front & back, basics in football (to me at least). Yes, another combination of say, Mcatee, Doyle & Norwood, may not have brought about other results, we will never know, however, the fact that we would have had more moveability in midfield would be better / acceptable to most than what we have witnessed. What worries most opposition is the moveability / pace / strength (another facet we have lacked for a considerable time) of the team they are facing.
The biggest fear for me, currently, is that the failure to gain promotion this season (though God knows what will happen if we do go up with the present expenditure / ownership shi* show), is that I can see admin & more problems on the horizon. Unfortunately, after more than 50 years of support, one is never surprised when the next bout of misery arrives with supporting the sometimes / briefly mighty Blades.
A positive team selection & result against Sunderland, may make one more positive, (until the next time)

o brien would have been the perfect replacement for fleck but i reckon doyle can fit in there anyway just need berge to be doing what berge should be doing for a 22m signing
