Is this an open letter?
Just so happens my opinion is actually what’s happening soIn your opinion
In my opinion we don’t live in North Korea
I totally agree with the recognition it deserves pal that is unquestionable but in my honest opinion the country wouldn’t lose its sense of grief and morning by not postponing sporting events.Closing down the economy to give anyone time off and postponing sporting events for a few days isn’t the same thing. We will have a national holiday for her funeral and sport will resume next fucking week. I don’t see the issue in having a pause to recognise and remember an absolute titan of a woman. Someone that delivered more public service than 1000 lifetimes combined. It’s about 1/3 the length of an international break FFS.
Fair enoughI totally agree with the recognition it deserves pal that is unquestionable but in my honest opinion the country wouldn’t lose its sense of grief and morning by not postponing sporting events.
Me me me , I want it now and if I don’t get it I’m going to kick off WAH WAH WAHI’m no royalist but it seems the Queen stood for everything 2022 isn’t. Sacrifice, duty, selflessness, integrity, acting for the greater good. Everything today, in this generation is about the individual. MY lived experience, MY pronouns, MY identity, IM offended.
What a bizarre observation. It's not about grieving and mourning, it's about policing in London. They just can't say that because it'd be disrespectful.
Haven’t the “hundreds of pounds” gone into the economy to support businesses ?There is absolutely zero correlation between me going to a football match and not showing respect to the Queen none zero the two things have nothing to o with each other
There is plenty of correlation though between the football authorities showing football fans zero respect and taking the p@@@ out of fans who have spent hundreds of pounds during a cost of living crisis which may now be non-refundable
Yep definitely a correlation pal our Monarch for 70 years passes away - football chose to respect that by taking a day offThere is absolutely zero correlation between me going to a football match and not showing respect to the Queen none zero the two things have nothing to o with each other

So the cricket and rugby aren't paying their respects by continuing with their fixtures then?Yep definitely a correlation pal our Monarch for 70 years passes away - football chose to respect that by taking a day off
I’m sure you’ll make the most of the bank holiday and the extra bank
Holiday for the Coronation ….
You believe what the tv tells you, bet you believe what The Daily male prints as well. No intention of going out and getting pissed as you so elequently put it , just want life to carry on as normal without all this shit storm that's engulfed the nation.Just said on tv that up until the last couple of years the Queen had around 400 appointments a year … doesn’t sound like not lifting a finger to me!
Why would they lieYou believe what the tv tells you, bet you believe what The Daily male prints as well. No intention of going out and getting pissed as you so elequently put it , just want life to carry on as normal without all this shit storm that's engulfed the nation.
If I need to answer the question re: how her contribution has benefitted our locality, I’m afraid I’m wasting my time…. It’s all about the economy, for the benefit of everyone. Don’t blame her if the fuckwits in Westminster squandered it. Blair decommissioning her/our fucking boat as a political gesture……..ask any British regiment what she meant to them.Your missing the point
How exactly does the football been stopped increase the amount of mourning for the queen ?
Again the amount of money she has raised has nothing to do with Sheffield United versus Rotherham literally nothing
Mike, I see where you’re coming from and have some sympathy but, time to quietly reflect is rarely observed by current generations and it is worthwhile. Fuck me, I now realise that I’m getting old…..But what difference does it make cancelling an entire weekends sport what difference at all???. Wouldn’t sport bring everyone out together to lift there spirits rather than sitting around thinking about it all.
You are an absolute joke EFL and Premier league
You are a bunch of Woke virtue signaling fairies
There is no reason the football should be off other than for you to score points and to screw the average joe football fan
Maybe if you actually read the article, you wouldn't come out with such confused babble?Fantastic- we are now to be dictated to by a “majority” of 29% are we? This sums up the social media driven agenda of whining self entitlement that we now have to endure. Just because you don’t like it, the majority do so either accept it or go and live somewhere where the majority share your views on monarchy and life in general.
Truth be told, I suspect that there was no confidence that football crowds would behave. There would have been those booing/chanting during the silence etc and it would have kicked off. Say what you like about rugby but that ain’t going to happen there. So the cricket and rugby aren't paying their respects by continuing with their fixtures then?
I did read it. The vitriolic rant of a Scottish nationalist who, even using the twisted maths of a Scottish finance minister couldn’t get to a majority- even by incorporating teenagers with no mandate.Maybe if you actually read the article, you wouldn't come out with such confused babble?
That's understandable. In a way. But it's punishing the majority again for the minority. Personally I respect a silence if there's one on because, you know, it's the done thing. Many don't. Then when one shouts, everyone tells him to 'shut up ya cunt' and then everyone starts. It's why it turned into applause - it was easier to drown out those cunts. The whole pomp and ceremony can be saved for those who wish to watch it and join in. The world doesn't stop.Truth be told, I suspect that there was no confidence that football crowds would behave. There would have been those booing/chanting during the silence etc and it would have kicked off. Say what you like about rugby but that ain’t going to happen there.
Mike, I really do sympathise and have said that I would have been in favour of playing but, it is what it is. It’s just one Saturday…….True in what you say but it’s ridiculous that a decision was made to cancel an entire weekends sport I’m still expected to work Monday other people in retail work etc expected to work this weekend what difference does it make
Good point about applause. I seem to be defending the decision but, as I’ve posted, on reflection, it could have been a joyous and moving tribute to HRH to celebrate in large numbers at grounds. But hey, it’s a momentous event and it’s only one game….That's understandable. In a way. But it's punishing the majority again for the minority. Personally I respect a silence if there's one on because, you know, it's the done thing. Many don't. Then when one shouts, everyone tells him to 'shut up ya cunt' and then everyone starts. We said the same work today. The football authorities are worried about the optics of any mark of respect being disrespected; for want of a better description. Government guidelines are that you don’t have to cancel. However, imagine the shitstorm when people can’t keep quiet for two minutes.Truth be told, I suspect that there was no confidence that football crowds would behave. There would have been those booing/chanting during the silence etc and it would have kicked off. Say what you like about rugby but that ain’t going to happen there.
I agree they shouldn't have cancelled but for different reasons: I think 30,000 singing God Save the Queen and 2 minutes silence would have been a better way to acknowledge the death of the Queen. The EFL seem to think we are living in the 1950s
Jeez……….a) it’s not about the timing of a national 2 minute silence - it ain’t Armistice day. If we follow that logic, according to to the probable time of her passing, how about every game stopping midway through the second half. Would that suit you better? b) the whole point is that we are supposed to show collective respect by large crowds, gathered in one stadium for the enjoyment of our national game. Why should a silence be held at matches anyway? For example, remembrance day is held at 11am on 11/11. I've been on the scaffold and downed tools for 2 minutes. Even asda prepped everyone and it went quiet.
So why not stick it on TV at 12 o'clock on Sunday? Would that not work?
Instead of shifting all the football fixtures in England causing arguments, just shift the silence? We've now caused more problems for people that didn't need to be caused.
Is Hartlepool v Donny one of 'em?This is just my opinion-
Take a look at the scheduled fixtures this W/E
There are two that stand out,the shit that will happen at those two is why they’ve cancelled ALL football
Mebbe take a look and it may be obvious why they’ve panicked and shut the lot down
Have a guess which two fixtures??
Just my opinion![]()
Beat me to it!.........has this been going on
