Injuries

Anybody who can turn around long term hamstring / muscle injuries in 23 days is a miracle worker. The current ( very welcome) siituation is clearly the result of a longer ongoing process. The opportunity lies in the prevention of its recurrence.

Maybe it's complete happenstance? By that I mean perhaps players were always scheduled to come back in this timeframe. Not necessarily improvement.

I don't think we'll see the full benefit of Prestridge's work until next season. We do have that three week break from league games to get a lot of physical work into players which hopefully helps some of the lads on the mend push on. I imagine we'll have some fitness camps, behind closed door games and U21 fixtures involving senior lads going on.

Every week we saw players going down injured in games. Every week there was another getting injured in training.

The biggest improvement is with the injuries. Hecky has always had such a bad reputation with injuries where as Wilder / Knill / Prestridge have an unbelievable reputation when it comes to injuries.

When players returned at least 1 or 2 then got injured to compensate.

Exactly.

People were surprised with some of Wilder's line up's since he has been here but I think a lot of his choices have been about improving the fitness of the group and not risking players.

CW says Baldock and McBurnie been carrying knocks. Stunned.
Both chronic sicknotes now, managing about 20 games per season. It’s annoying as I like them both as players but it’s getting to the point where I would rather watch Osula or Seriki instead as they both might stay fit for more than 1 game at a time

This happens just as we want to send Thomas back.
Luckily with the 2 prem games this month being at the end, then it may not impact upon this.. with I'm guessing trusty moving back to lb until rnd is up to speed (hopefully soon) and also have Osborn to cover as last choice..

I thought Trusty did well at left back to be fair.

Said it before that I think bubayu is a really good player and we need to create an opening for him and Boyes.

Ideal scenario for me is RND back to the level he was before his injury with those 2 pushing him and maybe a utility player (Osborn) to provide a further option.

Lowe has been steady and there is an okay player in there in a side playing with confidence but his injury record sways it for me

Listen to Wilder interview. He’s basically saying Hecky conditioning been terrible and hard to change but will take time.

Good.

12 not 14 Reported missing.
Bogle
Baldock
Egan
Basham
Anel
Trusty
Lowe
Larouci
Slimane
Davies
Fleck
Jebbison

Think that when all said and done, it was probably the five that were technically unavailable due to injuries. Egan, Bash, sicknote Lowe, usually dead Davies, and mysterious Jebbo.

Of the others, some of the others i.e. Anel, Baldock, Trusty could either have been used (as CW mentioned in his interview but didn't want to risk them), were not allowed due to concussion rules (Bogle), were unavailable due to international duty (Slimane and Larouchi), or just not fancied as he is less mobile than a tree (Fleck).

You would like to think that in a couple of weeks time, we have the lads available today, plus Anel, Baldock, Trusty and Bogle available again, and probably Slimane and Larouchi coming back shortly too. Chuck in a couple more from incomings and we suddenly aren't as threadbare as we usually were under 'get em in peak physique Hecky'.

Wasnt worth the risk of playing John Fleck anyway (even if CW had gone insane and wanted too) as if we are trying to move him on this January, you just know he would have got injured yesterday and be out for the season. Wrap him up in cotton wool this January.
