😂😂😂😂 what a fucking joke

Some of it is bad luck, but the volume and consistency points to there being more to it.

I've been reluctant to turn on the coaching staff because I think the ownership have sent them into a gun fight with a water pistol, but at some point we need to address the injuries because they're preventing us from being competitive.
They happened when PH & co. came in and have never really gone away.
At some point, we have to say 'enough is enough.'

I'm gutted I'm reaching this conclusion, after the first 5 games I didn't see me getting here... but something has to change and there's only really one option to explore.

There's a huge difference between bedding a youngster into a confident team, that plays on the front foot and that's littered with experienced pros, that gives them a platform to showcase their talents...

... and chucking a young lad into the deep end without a paddle, straight into a poor team, with no possession, going backwards and a group that probably has pretty bad morale.

Oli's in a really good place right now. He's learning his trade at a sensible level, he looks confident, has time on the ball and is able to influence and impact games. That's got to be better than chasing shadows and being bullied in the PL..

I really think we've held back Jebbison and Osula's development massively over these last two seasons.
They'd have dozens of games and goals at a lower level by now and we'd have two really good assets on the books.

Ultimately, we're going down regardless.
Arblaster, talented though he is, isn't going to be the difference at this stage of his career.
I'd rather we let him develop at L1 level and see what he can do in the Championship next season.
I agree with most of that but why when there is so much shit to complain about have you decided to moan about something that may never happen ?

Unless you are psychic how could you possibly know how he would react and even if the club would do this

Why waste your energy focusing on a negativity that hasnt even happened ?

I dont get it ,reading this board its like some people just wallow in negativity
New posters appear who just reiterate things that people already know enjoying the fact they are taking people who are already pissed off and making them.angrier and posters like yourself seem only to eager to lead them down the next depressing narrative before they have even dealt with the one thats actually happening

Guess its a social media thing but personally i just dont get it and i think maybe its time to leave sites like this alone and call it a day

I think it's fairly normal on an internet forum designed to discuss all things Sheffield United, to find content such as a discussion about the possible premature return of a youngster from a loan spell. Particularly when it's happened 2/3 times in recent seasons...

To your last point, you're on a Sheffield United forum.. the team hasn't won in almost six months and you're complaining about people complaining...
Youre right, maybe it's not for you.

Makes you wonder why are we getting all these long term injuries. Can not think of another club having to deal with such injury numbers. Can remember Warnock banning players from using a certain type of studs because he thought they were responsable for a number of injuries we are seeing now saying they don't allow the players to twist and turn without putting pressure on joints and muscles because they dug in the ground and because of their shape caused damage to the player .Just a thought but these number of injuries are not normal even taking into account of bad luck.

When people say "other teams get injuries too" well I've just looked at the West Ham 20 man squad vs Villa and every player starting and on the bench is the same as against us.

When was the last time we had the same 11 for games in a row?

Am I missing something with Anel? I’m sure he was on the SUTV preview show saying he was looking forward to playing Man U.

When was that recorded? Must’ve been when back from the break?

And he’s injured in that time?

Was also on training video Thursday aswell

Didn't anyone listen to heckys interview, he's as fed up as us with the injuries and said they are looking into why this is happening

Well, it depends on the nature of the injury doesn’t it. You can have a strained hamstring. You can have a torn or ruptured hamstring. Or, in the worst cases, it can actually detach from the bone. That’s a very serious injury, and there can be various complications during the recovery and rehab. Even with a smooth recovery and no complications or setbacks no one is coming back from that in less than 6-9 months. Longer if there have been complications.
Berge had the serious case that you allude to in Dec 2020 and was out for 3 or 4 months. RND has been out for 12 months and counting and there is no end in sight so there would have to be some pretty serious complications to account for that.

Brewster injured is hamstring against Peterborough in early 2022 and so in less than 2 years he’s spent 18 months out with hamstring injuries. This is a guy we spent our record fee on. Yes hamstring injuries can be nasty but this doesn’t add up to me.

You could tell by his pre match comments that questions are being asked internally as to why these are happening.

The fact people just talk about in a way that absolves Hecky of blame in this injury crisis is absolutely mental

You don't get unlucky for 2 years

Nathan ducks criticising Hecky or his team but the evidence is there from Hecky's time at other clubs.

This injury issue was always going to catch up with us and it's by sheer luck (mainly Ndiaye staying fit) we got promoted despite the injuries last season.

From YorkshireLive today.

Heckingbottom added: "His groin started impacting him. It was sore at half-time and we tried taping it up but you could see it was impacting him running.

"Just before he came off we broke and had a good opportunity and he was a big part of that. A lot of his and Cam's work were without the ball and you could see how he was labouring without the ball and it meant they would just get out and get out and get out.

"We had to bring him off because he was hindered by that but also to protect him as well."
I think this gets to the heart of it. If you have a player who's just back from a groin injury, and his groin starts giving him gyp during the first half, and you want to "protect" him, do you:

a) bring him off the pitch straight away to be on the safe side
b) keep him on till half time, then assess and sub out for the second half
c) tape it up and hope for the best, admitting defeat 10 minutes later after exacerbating an existing injury and all but guaranteeing another extended absence

I think it's clear now that the lack of squad depth is leading Hecky to make poor decisions when it comes to injury rehabilitation. Although I guess in this situation bringing Brewster on any earlier would leave him open to exactly the same criticism.
