The weakness appeared to come down our left side as RND just looked so far off the pace

i think the promblem was Burrows in mid field he is no midfielder and we were unable to control the game

No messing about with three at the back but do swap to three in central midfield and two up top rather than two wingers, like we more or less played at times in the second half yesterday

Brewster is at his "best" in a front two rather than out wide, as a number 10 or as a lone striker.
Burrows in his proper position, with freedom to attack up the wing.
McCallum tucked in a bit on the left which he tends to do anyway, can cover for Burrows pushing forward.
Seriki bombing on up the right, so good we don't need a winger.
O'Hare theoretically as a number 10 through the middle but can drop out wide right, or fall back into the midfield if others burst forward.
Blacker a massive downgrade on Gus but it's his actual position.
Brooks would also be an option in a midfield three rather than McCallum or Blacker as he played well there on occasions in the PL.
BBD as an option off the bench either replacing a striker or going back to a front three.

The only weakness with that is if Hull double up on Seriki with no cover in front, but that's no different to games where Brewster or O'Hare have been on the right and not tracked back anyway.

Ok so what about playing Anel as the defensive midfielder for one game. He's decent on the ball and can get around the pitch
Better still get Charles in on loan and straight into the team

We have the natural option of Blacker. If you want to go safer we can play Brooks or McCallum in a three with Backer and Peck. We aren't out of options quite yet.

It's where he played last season a division higher, and played on the left wing as a youth, it's only this season that he's started playing on the right wing.

He was a liability in the FAcup cost us the goal.
Wilder gave him a 3 year contract before he really got back to fitness.
That was a big surprise as proving your fitness is first usually.
Hope he can find it cus at the moment he's way off it.
His confidence is low we cant allow him time to fi nd it a loan is best bet.

I think unless he’s able to hold down a slot and on last nights evidence he’s not, then he’s not good enough for this level as a full back at least

We didn’t really have a choice and it came a little out of the blue that he wanted a new contract from what I heard

Potentially, but second half changes suggests that the problems were in the full back areas.

He wasn't that good before his Hamstring at Coventry I will admit for around 4 weeks up to the Coventry game he had improved a lot but his decision making, marking and distribution was always a bit iffy

No criticism of the kid at all but his first touch last night was a high ball coming down to him with no one around him at all so I anticipated a chest down and control - he just headed it straight to a Swansea player, nerves etc but maybe a start in the Championship is a bridge to far, at the moment.

Weird how there's not been any rush to bring in midfield reinforcement. Playing Davies until he got injured was always likely given his record, Souza carrying a long-term injury, Hamer now suspended, Blaster out for the season and a relative kid who's doing really well but can't be expected to carry the weight of the midfield on his own.
Wrong priorities so far in the transfer window.

Not saying it would work but given Burrows in there definitely doesn’t work I’d try Gilchrist he’s mates with Peck anyway so there’s a chance they’d have more of a natural understanding and coming from Chelsea he’ll have had a decent grounding from a technical point of view. On top of that when he plays right back he seems to want to pass inside most of the time rather than go outside and given he’s on the short side for a CB and looks not entirely comfortable at right back his future might be at CDM anyway if he wants a career at a high level in the game a bit like Ampadu.

That’s my reasoning anyway and I’d give it a shot.
