Seriki Anel JLT Burrows

------Blacker -- Peck ------

Brewster -- O'Hare-- BBD

We really could do with a CM signing in the next couple of days, Peck looks like he's running on empty but we can't shoehorn in Burrows or someone else in at CM as the opposition will walk straight through us, like Swansea did in the first half.

My worry is having two youngsters in such a vital area especially with Peck looking out on his feet.

I wonder if Ohare could do a job at CM, he's not overly attack minded but has a great workrate especially when it comes to harrying the opposition and nicking the ball off them.

4-1-5 - never been seen or done before. Think Warnock last 10 mins of a game when you're losing 1-0. Will defintely work. Maybe.

In fact, fuck it - chuck O'Hare on for Anel while we're at it. 3-1-6

The weakness appeared to come down our left side as RND just looked so far off the pace

No one would be getting down the wings…they might get straight through the middle though 🤷‍♂️

He played like he was still asleep from the coach journey!!! for whatever reason he had a nightmare.
He's done it a couple of times this season, Barnsley away he was off it and you could kind of put it down to coming back from injury, being rusty and the side that played that night. But he's not very good in one of one situations, doesn't have the pace and likes to grab hold far too much.

Of more interest is whether we will see Vini again. Isn’t that 2 games where Wilder has said he’ll be back but there’s no sign of him? Any idea what’s the “injury”?

With the cupboard looking a bit bare for Friday it would not break my heart if the weather caused a postponement until we got a few players fit and more signings in.

It’s more if the authorities don’t want people travelling during the day
That would require at least an Amber Met Office weather warning and right now, we're right on the edge of a Yellow one

It doesn't look like being anywhere near as serious as the one that cancelled the Merseyside Derby a month ago

Sadly hasn’t looked anything like since returning from injury the second time .. looks a shadow of the player who was the left hand side of a solid back 3 a couple of years ago ⚔️

A leftfield view, but could we play O'Hare in the middle? He has the work rate and ability to be a pest for the opposition.

Is it ideal? No. But, that's possibly what we have to deal with. He would need to be told to release the ball a bit sooner though.

Snap!

See post #3 on this thread.

Go with the obvious, burrows there with mcallum lb. Not ideal after yesterday or that Cardiff cup game, but he has played there for Peterborough.

Failing that you have to look at youth and or shoehorning anel / gilchrist just to do dirty work, which again is even less ideal.

He was a liability in the FAcup cost us the goal.
Wilder gave him a 3 year contract before he really got back to fitness.
That was a big surprise as proving your fitness is first usually.
Hope he can find it cus at the moment he's way off it.
His confidence is low we cant allow him time to fi nd it a loan is best bet.

Yeah agree, probably three at the back. Otherwise would probably have to consider Anel or Gilchrist playing out of position as a very defensive midfielder.
Beat me to it, but you would like to think k either of those should be just comfortable enough to play 60/70 mins. Both ain't bad with ball at feet for centerbacks and mobile enough.

Puts lot of pressure on peck to be the 1 to get on the ball and move the ball around in midfield, get us advancing.

Cooper
Seriki Gilchrist Anel Robinson Burrows
O'Hare Peck Brooks
Brewster Brereton

Clog up the middle of the pitch with an extra CB to cover them

I thought it was one year deal. Anyway, he's probably being paid peanuts given his injuries recently.

No point slagging off the decision to give him a contract either because at the start of pre-season we couldn't even field a starting first XI, we literally needed footballers.

No messing about with three at the back but do swap to three in central midfield and two up top rather than two wingers, like we more or less played at times in the second half yesterday

Cooper
Seriki, Anel, JLT, Burrows
Blacker, Peck, McCallum
O'Hare
Campbell, Brewster

Brewster is at his "best" in a front two rather than out wide, as a number 10 or as a lone striker.
Burrows in his proper position, with freedom to attack up the wing.
McCallum tucked in a bit on the left which he tends to do anyway, can cover for Burrows pushing forward.
Seriki bombing on up the right, so good we don't need a winger.
O'Hare theoretically as a number 10 through the middle but can drop out wide right, or fall back into the midfield if others burst forward.
Blacker a massive downgrade on Gus but it's his actual position.
Brooks would also be an option in a midfield three rather than McCallum or Blacker as he played well there on occasions in the PL.
BBD as an option off the bench either replacing a striker or going back to a front three.

The only weakness with that is if Hull double up on Seriki with no cover in front, but that's no different to games where Brewster or O'Hare have been on the right and not tracked back anyway.
