Basic stuff. I know he pulls off the occasional good save but at least twice he nearly got tackled by a striker.I agree, I thought at the time that he should easily have cut the ball from Evans out. Just needed to dive forward and gather it in, just stuck on his line???![]()
He kept us in the game on more than one occasion. The play should never have been allowed to progress to that stage in the first place. Didzy loses the ball too easily and their player strides through our midfield unopposed to feed it wide. Personally, I thought his kicking apart, Foderingham played well tonight. We switched off from a throw in for their first, immediately after a substitution, which was criminal and from that point the home crowd were up and Preston could smell blood. Really poor game management tonight.View attachment 128264

I don’t care what anyone says, that’s keeper’s.
Yes the defending is shambolic, yes the club wasted millions on poor players blah blah blah.
But he catches that like he should and we win. Simple as.

Take out the crosser and it’s 8 v 2.8 v 3 in that penalty area and they still score
Unforgivable

Absolutely bang on , highly paid professionals playing like 8 year olds - only at dem BladesThe best way I can sum it up is that our defence always react to what opponents do and never anticipate it. That's why they're constantly taken by surprise for things that seem so obvious. They react and try to close down the player with the ball, but forget about the simple things like marking players in the box, or watching for runners into the box. No one reads the game or sees what is going to happen. They're disorganised and there is no leadership at the back. It's like watching kids under 8s football where everyone wants to be where the ball is.
They're footballing robots who don't have a mind of their own, they sleepwalk through games doing the same thing hoping that things will go their way instead of making it happen themselves. When we're attacking, its still the tippy-tappy stuff around the edge of the box and a cross that is easy to defend. As far as our defending is concerned, as soon as they have to face their own goal, its almost inevitable that we'll concede because once they're turned round, they're clueless and that's where the keeper comes in to communicate or take matters into his own hands as the final option. The best way I can sum it up is that our defence always react to what opponents do and never anticipate it. There is simply no individual ownership, every player just thinks of they make an error then someone else will mop up for them, these players are becoming and embarrassment to the clubThey're footballing robots who don't have a mind of their own, they sleepwalk through games doing the same thing hoping that things will go their way instead of making it happen themselves. When we concede a shit goal, there's never anyone shouting the odds or reading the riot act, they just stand there, hands on heads thinking "oh well, we only conceded 2 this week." As soon as Preston got one back, they all shit themselves instead of just carrying on, keeping their shape, keeping their discipline and keeping the ball. The situation wasn't helped by the baffling substitutions either. As crap as Brewster's finishing was, he was keeping the Preston defence on their toes.
The top and bottom of it for me is that we barely have an intelligent footballer or a proper leader on the books. There's no anticipation, no tactical head on the pitch, they all just amble about willing the opposition to miss the goal rather than forcing the issue. Chris Wilder and Alan Knill are GONE and the old days of "yes boss, no boss, 3 bags full boss" are gone too, looking to them to inspire or come up with an idea to break the opposition down.
They're all foot soliders who act on orders but when pushed, have no initiative of their own, there's nobody except MGW (who's not even our player) who can pull a rabbit out the hat when we desperately need it.
