How much would you pay for promotion?

Better off sticking all the money on weeds/ northwich to get the top 2 places at 6/4.

Absolutely not worth it. Last time I considered doing that was the last match of the season against Palace a few years ago. As I got the bus home tired and disappointed one thing going through my mind was relief that I'd not 'betrayed' the Blades by betting against them. Winning some money off the back of it would just have made me feel worse.

Someone over at Pigsville has bet around 200 million on his 'team' getting promoted - looser.

On the exchanges we're 1.3 to get promoted; so you could win £100 (minus commission) with a liability of £30.
It's the other way round a liability of £100 to £30 (odds 30/100)

Pretty sure odds of 1.3 mean if you put £100 on then you get return of £130. So the opposite way round to what you have.

On bet365 our odds are
First place 3/1
Promotion 1/3
Think the guy was saying if you want to upset the football gods then LAY the Blades at 1.3 ( NOT to get promoted) so if we dont then you win £100 but if we do then only lost £30 !

I’ve been planning a hefty insurance bet since 2012 if we ever make another playoff final.

No if you lay us £100 to not get promoted you would win £100 minus commission if we don’t go up. If we go up you lose £30.

Tezza1889 got me thinking here. He's betting on Norwich/Leeds doubles from now till the end of the season as he doesn't win bets, so let's say £10 per bet, he'd happily lose £80 for us to be promoted.

Doesn't necessarily have to be cold hard cash either, if the footballing god's asked for a bribe to guarantee our promotion over the next 8 games, what would you give?

Cash? How much?
Your arm? Your kidney? Your wife? Car?
Swap your holiday to Barbados for a week in Skeg?

Would would you happily give?

Im deadly serious here, the last time I bet on Sheffield United to win was in the Adkins season.. let that sink in for a moment..

The bet will (it won’t though) roll over to the end of the season..

It won't work because Leeds and Norwich aren't going to win all their remaining games.

You'll end up losing money and we probably still won't get promoted.

That’s not the probability at all. ‘Might not’ would be better and more accurate.

Just trying to help.

I’ve slapped some money on Leeds to win their next two games.

If they don’t, it’s likely we’ll match their points.

If they do, I’ll place the return on them to win the next two

What if they end up with 4 points and we get none?

You’ll be out of pocket and pissed off cause our promotion chances will be looking shite!

I would be really pissed off!!!

But it’s unlikely so I’ll take that risk.
