Not sure how far we were ahead of 3rd in the Ched season, but I'm sure it wasn't 13 points. In fact in my 40+ years of watching the Blades I can't remember us having such a commanding lead over our promotion rivals. I can't remember any other club blowing it with such a healthy lead either, though I'm sure it's happened.

Someone pointed out that Keegan's Newcastle blew a 12 point lead when losing out to Man U in the 90s. Leeds fell apart in the Championship a couple of times recently but I'm sure they never had a 13 point advantage over 3rd.

Still plenty of work to do of course. If we lose a couple of games a 13 point gap can become a 7 point gap in the space of a week. We don't want a nervous ending. Surely we can manage 1.5 points per game from now on, which should be enough.

If we somehow throw it away it would be the choke of the century.

Yes i remember and to make it worse the pigs caught us up. It is what happens when you follow the blades ,We always seem to find a way to fuck it up thats why us Blades never know when to relax . I will feel better when the transfer window has closed and all our main players are still here and are all fit. What a time to have cash flow problems ,half way through the transfer window so others are lining up to take advantage and half way through a take over .Yes it is never easy being a Blade but i could never change or relax .No doubt some thing else will turn up to really fuck it up. Right i am off now to find some bloody rope ha ha .

The performance against Hull was one of the most composed that we have put in for a while, against a tough opponent, and the embargo news had already broken at that stage. I think this team are far too focused on the winning the game to worry about the off field issues.

We were 14 points clear of Leeds in our promotion season under Warnock and they got within 3 of us near the end. We were promoted with one game to go in the end, only because they drew with Reading or it would have gone down to the wire. Dropping Shipperley for Akinbadbuy was our undoing. Though quiet how Warnock took the league's top striker who had 12 goals running at players with the ball at feet, and turned him into an ineffective target man who won nothing in the air and only got 3 goals from him, I will never know.

At the full time whistle v. Luton on the 11th March, Boro will be above us. Last night is the start of the tail off.

We’ll then be in the play off places for the remainder of the season & we all know how that will end. Badly. In the next few games we’re going to see what our potential play off opponents will do to us.

In 2023/24, we’ll then have the f’ing indignity of no money, a threadbare squad, serious lack of quality and being in a league with a resurgent Sheffield Wednesday. And that’s without considering any comeback from the embargo.
