Back to business as usual for us today. The seven point fillip and game in hand once again looks frighteningly fragile after a game of two halfs and one dismal outcome.

Hecky went back to his Championship First Eleven for much of the lineup today, which may have been the undoing of us. After a cracking win vs Tottenham midweek where we opened our collective hearts and the B squad got the victory they deserved, today we were either profligate with clear chances or allowed Blackburn to pin us in our own half, press us into going backwards or hit us on the break. First half we looked capable, if vulnerable and it was that vulnerability which gave them their early lead. One minute we are up in their box, and less than 30 seconds later Fodders is watching a pretty saveable shot whiz past him. They also struck the post and bar, so it's not like you can say Blackburn were undeserved of their three points. We huffed and puffed and their keeper never really made a big save. If you compare how a scratch team went at Tottenham on Wednesday and how we allowed ourselves to be unpicked today it says it all about HJ&SMcC's dilemma, especially when it comes to fielding a fucking total waste of a transfer fee and shirt that is Sander fucking Berge. Elsewhere it wasn't quite so bad and we seemed to play better after a torrid first fifteen in the second half where Rovers were all over us. Both wingbacks went but I am at an absolute loss as to why Hecky replaced Fleck and Norwood with McAtee and Doyle and left a suitcase sat out on the pitch. Either way, we lost and we lost bad, with plenty of opportunity to win and win good.

Maybe Hecky's first eleven isn't the answer here?

Foderingham 6/10: Poor angles on the goal and the post hit and some shit distribution in the first half. And a spoddy punch in the second.
Bogle 6/10: Some good but a lot bad. Out of position and run a bit ragged. Overplayed once to often. Does anyone think Bogle is actually more a right midfielder in a 4-4-2?
Basham 5/10: Good first half and a shocker of a second. Mazy dance through their backline and a fucked up finish and one soon after where he should have taken a touch. He still shows composure, but these days he just can't cover the yards like Anel can
Egan 6.5/10: Decent industrious game again marshalling the defence, but fuck me he cannot head a ball for toffee
JLT 7/10: Usual tough-as-old-boots Morganesque outing for Jack. When you think, 18 months ago he was 'the golden robot', he is nothing of the sort now
Lowe 4/10: Regressing in output and now showing his limitations. If we go up, he won't be coming with us.
Berge 2/10: Bit speechless as to how this Jessie stays on for 90 minutes and gives us so little. One point for his shot in the first half and the other for a handful of touches but in truth he is such a fucking waste of a shirt
Norwood 6.5/10: Don't think he had a bad game. Didn't deserve to be subbed anyway. Him and Doyle dropped Right and Left with McAtee and NDaiye as RAM and LAM would have been much better
Fleck 6/10: You can see he wants to recapture what form and output he had back in the day but face it ... he's been at the club seven years now and through a rollercoaster of ups and downs and is now on the final loop. Not a bad game for him and a lot better than I have seen him play, but he's out in the summer, up or not.
NDaiye 6/10: Tried and tried to make an impact and won some key balls but was never allowed to run at or through their defence and was reduced to coming deep to get the ball in the second half
McBurnie 6/10: Another one who did what he could but as the game wore on you knew it was never gonna drop for him. Did well defensively too

Sharp 5/10: Battled but failed
Osborn 6/10: Again, much, much better in the LWB role than LM
Baldock 5/10: Didn't offer much more than Bogle to be honest
Doyle 6/10: Wrongly subbed Norwood. Did okay when on and really should have subbed Berge
McAtte 5/10: LIttle impact or chance of

HJ&SMcC 3/10: Blackburn were really full of holes we should have been 1-3 up in the first half. No idea what they were playing at in the second but we seemed to dither about countering Blackburn's changed approach to attack and leaving Berge on was a fucking war crime. They need to have the moral courage now to drop the fucker and consider life without him. We need a more dynamic midfield like we saw on Wednesday and him ambling about and putting fuck all in is effectively making us play with ten men.

We can not now afford to lose any more games whilst Middlesbrough are breathing down our necks. reduce the gap to one and we WILL fail, end up in the playoffs, fuck that up and end up playing the Pigs next season, facing further financial ruin. That is the cost of days like today - Basham et al take note.

And Sky commentators - why not just admit you don't fucking like Sheffield United, eh? We get it. Wednesday are by far a sexier team and Leeds once won the League One title.

Caught on the break to gift them a goal, then played well for rest of first half. With so much involving Bogle, he cannot afford to get in great positions and then waste his chance or give away the ball all-too-often.

Bash did the difficult stuff in his run then fluffed his chance, he could have passed that into the net.

Main worry is that when we are running back to goal, we sometimes track their forwards, but then inexplicably run away from them leaving them alone.

Lack of composure today cost us, would have taken a point from kick-off.

Disappointing result but hardly the stuff to get too miserable about.

Berge 2/10

Fleck & Norwood both 6/10 even though they didn’t nowhere near as much as berge going forward and there awful defending let them break on us and score

Norwood could shit on your cornflakes and you’d still eat them

After midweek's epic this was a disaster. Fleck and others were running back for their goal and looked as though they were treading in treacle. How come we were so outnumbered for it.? How come we have this new system of back -peddling to our own goal when the opposing forwards run at us with the ball.? Why wasn't Basham off sooner.? Why wasn't Jebbo on for McBurnie.?
We are losing too many games now. The warning signs are there. Hecky better heed them.

basham norwood berge fleck and mcburnie all awful today it was always going to be a tough game today with the run their on but we never laid a glove on em pathetic performance equivalent to spurs the other night im afraid hecky has some serious selection decisions in the next 2 games theres a case for dropping all 3 midfielders for reading and mcburnie is no threat at all akpom and bradshaw blind him after the euphoria of wednesday night this group of players have let our travelling support down badly today get it sorted hecky and quick

Berge going forward? When? When did he actually threaten, go past players, play a killer pass or put himself into a challenge and turn Blackburn's possession into defence?

Your UEFA A Badge is beginning to sound a bit FIFA23 to me. Fleck, with all his age and conditioning limitations put in a fairly solid outing today. Some of his positioning and link play and breaking up of Blackburn's midfield endeavours was notable. He was subbed at the right time. Norwood also linked well and defended adequately. He also showed judicious judgement on the long ball and picked out Lowe in the first half with a beauty. Berge was isolated and uncommitted. he had one shot - very saveable - on goal.

So do yourself a favour. Pull your pants up and try watching the game, eh?

Good summary of a very frustrating game. Think you have overmarked Egan who is doing my head in with his constant inability to find a man, his truly appalling heading ability and being one of the main culprits of the ‘anywhere will do mentality’ that means we are constantly giving away possession, constantly under pressure and susceptible to the high press. Agree that he always puts the effort in but, come on Eags, ffs do some passing and heading practice during the week.

Think your marks are also kind to Doyle but in fairness he isn’t an impact, last 15 minutes player. Unforgivable though for a professional footballer to put a corner straight out of play, particularly in the last minute. Got to dock him a whole point for that.

Berge? Words truly fail me. Needs some bench time to reflect on wtf he is going to offer the team.

As I write, Boro up, Luton up and my stomach is beginning to churn. Still a great position but it’s going to be scramble when we all wanted a stroll.

Generous with marks for both Berge and Lowe.
Neither are worth a shirt at the moment. Doyle/Mcatee for Berge. And George for Lowe should be the way forward

Glad you made one or two points I'd been considering.

The goals wasn't exactly hammered into the far corner. Why was Wes so far to his right. If he'd have been stood centrally it would have taken exceptional placement to beat him. Didn't do us many favours and today, whilst not a howler is another example where another top keeper gets you a point. He didn't. He's decent at this level but not as good as he was 6-12 months back.

Bogle, he's actually starting to annoy me. Yes he's got dancing feet. But he treats defending if it's some sort of optional extra that he can choose to provide or not. You can see how we get caught out. At one point, he was next to McBurnie when our no 9 headed at goal. But then you think who is covering him if he's gone so far forward? Baldock is way ahead in terms of the art of defending.

Berge is getting to the point once more of asking to be dropped. It's like a boxer who has one good haymaker in him. You're just waiting for him to connect while he loses each round on points. He's better on the right given the instruction to just run and put balls in. He seemed to find himself in a no 10 role and he looked completely lost.

Love Bash but beating 3 men and then slipping with the goal gaping just about summed up the match. Also missed a great chance where he just lashed at the ball with his left when he could have taken a touch and picked his spot.

Recent showings should really see Osborn replace Lowe. I don't see Max adding much these days.

Robinson has done a really good job of late. But it is really worrying the loss of Anel has on the defence's ability to keep a clean sheet.

We really need to get a result against Reading regardless of how others do today. Getting nothing from Blackburn and Millwall, two teams we totally outclassed at home is a really poor return for a team with aspirations for top two.

Same people slagging and writing em off, after praising em to the hilt, days ago.
keep calm everyone, and get behind em, with some support, not a knife.

He wasn't beaten by placement, he was beaten by the pace of the shot. It goes thru/or past his left arm.

For once you scored Berge higher than I did.

Good summary, time for a change in midfield, Berge needs a couple of games on the bench to give him a kick up the arse.

The sight of berge, Egan, Lowe etc ambling back for their goal makes me feel sick, not what the blades are about

I posted this line on Weds evening and it’s the same again

Fkin hell Hecky - just fkin hell

Wtf was that ??

Everyone watching at my place said the same - we could have predicted that start based on starting lowe and Bogle . Both can’t defend and both leave massive gaps behind them for the opposition to expose by just running at us . There was also no-one to cover and help out Bash who is adored but defensively is a bomb scare .Why not start with Baldock and Ozzie and try to be solid for the first half and then perhaps change in the second to go for it . Fleck and not Doyle - why? Berge in the team - Why ? He offers nothing w h a t s o e v e r

Hecky you got it so wrong today

These lot will not go up - they are going to be hunted down by Midd and Bburn - who have reeled us in

Boy , will we regret not adding a couple of players in Jan .

Wes - 5
Bogle - 5
Lowe - 4
Egan - 5
Robb - 6
Bash - 5
Fleck - 5
Norwood - 5
Berge - 3
IN - 4
McB - 5

Rest - who cares

Hecky 2

We are totally sleepwalking to the playoffs

I agree with Pompey totally shit in the first half. a bit better in the second half, but didn't really have a go until the last 10 min in my opinion.
We must beat Reading If lose that I will start to worry. we really have to win all of our remaining home games. I like Berge but he must improve. we need more from him.

This may sound an odd one too.

But do we actually practice shooting? I mean actually continuously placing the ball where the keeper can't reach it?

As I sit here now, Boro have had 10 shots. 4 have been on target. 4 goals.

Meanwhile, we had 14 shots. 4 on target. Came away with nothing.

What a message from them. All that bollocks about our goal difference. They are just 4 behind now on goal difference and points.

Time for us to show some composure and some fucking bollocks now. We've spent the last month putting in lackluster disorganized performances.

We're now playing teams that we either beat or drew last season. In fact you look at last year's results against the same teams and we didn't lose a single one.

I'm struggling to see that coming but would welcome it.

3 points out of a possible 12. That's fucking shite. The players and coaching staff need to start earning their wages now. No more fuck ups or amateurish, insipid displays or these players will be known as the biggest bottlers the Championship has ever seen.

I can't help it but I'm really angry about that result and second half performance. I'm probably not alone either.

Lost that game in midfield today ,they had a lot more energy , pace & ability to run with the ball . Our three looked old tired & sluggish . Doyle & McAtee should have statrted more so after Weds performance.
Don’t fall for the stats on possession & XG the hard facts are we never even forced a save out of there keeper & aseell as scoring they hit the woodwork twice .
Hecky needs to stop fkg tinkering the side , this rotation doesn’t help continuity .
No supply line to the front 3 today & some of the older prayers were chasing shadows .
Start playing & keeping the strongest 11 instead of trying to please players ⚔️

Lolz at people thinking we were better second half. That's quite some take.

I normally defend Berge but I think Pommps has been nice giving him 2. There were two occasions where the ball was coming towards him and he was the nearest too it, but rather than make the effort or put himself into the challenge he actively shrunk away from the ball. Absolute criminal lack of responsibility or effort.

Fuck off United. From being proud as punch Wednesday to that spineless fucking showing. Time for a big team meeting tomorrow morning Hecky, some home fucking truths and putting it all on the line against Reading.

That was the Millwall game with reverse halves, which makes it even more depressing considering we ended the match poor and desperate without looking like finding an equaliser.

If Ndaiye can't get himself involved we have very little creativity, this being the MGW effect of last season.

First half was absolutely fine apart from the score as we should have been level at least, but the alarming thing after that was that Blackburn's team, most of whom played in midweek, looked much stronger, faster and fitter than our "rested" players.

I don't see any reason why we can't hold on to our league position till the end of the season, but we can't afford many more 45 minutes like that again.

I watched on the Bet365 app and thought that they were using the Blackburn comms. Then found out it was Sky

Bogle 6/10 surprised me

Thought he was nearly as bad as the awful Lowe.

He is a show pony without any show at the moment. He has no discipline and when his fancy step overs do not come off he offers little. He's be better as a striker than a wing back. Lad has no idea how to defend or where to stand.

Norwood and Fleck's marks way too high too for me - we were abysmal 2nd half in midfield and did not keep it or stop the ball coming through us.

Generally think youve been too kind Pomps!
