With Solksjaer as manager and Woodward doing the transfer dealings, Henderson is better off staying with us. Genuinely believe we have a brighter future than them with those two in place.

I know that’s not all that matters, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they fucked it up somehow so it wasn’t super obvious to Henderson they wanted him as #1. If it then becomes a choice between us and them, our hopes look a lot better than they once did.

I’m not in charge of Man Utd’s transfer policy, but there is plenty of press chatter about their interest in Onana, both last summer and pre-xmas to suggest it has some sort of factual basis. Reading between the lines, you’d conclude that they either see him as De Gea’s direct replacement or long term successor. You’d also surmise that they don’t currently rate Hendo as highly as Onana or they are yet to be convinced.

Bayern have already signed a replacement for Neuer.

I haven't been round all the premier league forums, but the noises coming out of Manchester United are that while Deano is doing well he's still just a prospect.

The vibe seems to be that the keeper position is sorted.. so we need to try for a permanent signing.. if de gea moves then it all changes, we should go for him now.

The manc fans want Jack Grealish , James Madison and Declan Rice this summer, so might need a few quid, and If henderson develops like he is doing 30mill isn't a gamble.

Thats the conundrum Man Utd have. The timing is all wrong for them.
Man Utd‘s current goalie is on a massive long term contract....don’t think they can sell him....as he won’t take a pay cut.
They will keep De Gaea and theres massive pressure to play him....Henderson won’t want to be a number 2 anywhere.
Also if he stays at Man Utd and doesn’t play his value will decrease....if he goes to a club like Chelsea and only plays the odd game his value will decrease.

Man Utd still see Henderson as a bit part of their future_...so cant see them selling England’s number 1 to anyone.

The best deal that will benefit all parties is Man Utd sell him to us....but there’s a buy back clause...so Man Utd have him back in 5 years time.
Lets not forget Henderson is a Man Utd fan and his life ambition is to be the number 1 at Man Utd.
He’s still only 22 years old, so even if he joins Man Utd when he’s 27, he’ll still have a good 8 years minimum at Man Utd.

That’s not their aim though. They’re not Spurs. They didn’t make money on Ferdinand or Vidic or Rooney or any of the players they paid good money for. With the exception of those who fell out with Fergie and Ronnie, who became a galactico, they played them until they’d run out of legs, then sold them for a small fee, after they’d won loads of trophies for them.
That was Fergie’s way and they’re trying to emulate it. His philosophy was that you identify the best player for the role you want them to play, then buy them whatever the cost, not settle for second best because it’s cheaper.
