Henderson Staying??

For a season loan maybe. But when news headlines are about him being Englands No1 and ousting De Gea, his ambition to play back at ManU will stay strong.
He was immense last night, hope we can hang o to him as ling as possible.

I suppose it would be nice to have him as a Sheffield United player, however he’s destined for bigger things and Man U won’t sell him.
This season has confirmed his status as a premier league keeper....with his kicking still being the thing that stops him being world class.
So still lots of room for improvement...and another year on loan is likely to be the decision and re assess again in 12 months.

personally speaking, he needs to sort the kicking otherwise I see Man U opting to bring in another continental keeper who can pick out full backs and ping passes with both feet.

where else would the lad want to be if not Man U?
He will want to play and so there’s a great chance he will be back next season. The fly in the ointment could be cost...Man U might start demanding bigger fees and full wage contributions; With other clubs prepared to step in and take him on those terms!

we shall see. Negotiations began early again and took until July last season to resolve.

For me, it depends on the market for 'keepers this Summer. If there's a goalkeeper Wilder and Knill rate who is available at a reasonable cost (this all depends on budgets but I'd say we should be willing to go as high as £15-20m for someone we like), we should go all out for them. If there's no one available, getting Henderson back for another year should be the first priority.

If we kept him at BDBL for a third season. It would be a season longer than if he was actually our player.
If he’d belonged to us, someone would have bought him by now. It sounds daft but the fact he is contracted to the “big Manc’s” makes this arrangement a bit more secure. So extending his loan makes good sense.
Although if we do pip the Mancs for a place in Europe, their generosity might be tested.

It’s a fantastic situation for the lad all ways up. Playing in Prem with the mighty Blades and having a signed and sealed contract in his back pocket for Man Utd.

Good article about Hendo, interesting how passing accuracy is now very important for top level GK's, gone are the days when you could just be a great shot stopper.

We all know Henderson will go to any united game when we don’t play on the same day if or when he goes back to Man Utd he’s a blade now like so many former players they just take to us.

And backs up what I’m saying, a keeper with the ability to act like a sweeper and ping passes to both wings and find a player is crucial for taking a side to the next level.
And would benefit our current side massively!
Lots of work to do to get that better though.

Henderson won't play second-fiddle to anyone, not now he's a regular Premier League starter. Wilder said as much.

I would imagine De Gea, who signed a six-year contract in the summer to make him the world's highest-paid goalkeeper, will feel exactly the same. I also doubt Man U will be content having such a lucrative asset picking splinters out of his arse on the bench.

There's a fantastic chance of us keeping him for another season thanks to that situation. If we can get him permanently it'd be even better, but I fear that's wishful thinking now. His value goes up with each game that passes and I reckon he'll be well out of our price range by the end of the season.

Id certainly welcome him back for another season if the arrangement suited wilder!

Its good business for man united as hes getting 1st team prem games even though they wouldnt give him the oppertunity themselves! His stocks obviously rising.. its like putting a rare rolex in safe for a few years just to get it out after 3/4 years and sell it for much more without even wanting to wear it yourself!

Thing is they were similar with Ben Foster years ago.. he was playing well and getting England call ups but they were never really that fussed for him, they always had someone 'better' in as number 1!

When keepers used to be able to pick up a back pass. Nowadays they need passing accuracy having to woof the ball up from a poor back pass.

Now might not be the time to “rattle Man Utd’s cage” with regard to extending Deano’s loan. Whilst they’re getting beaten at home to Burnley, they have young keeper on the cusp of an full England call up and playing out of his skin for a rival team who could potentially deny them a European spot.
Look down and walk past quietly.

Man Utd signed a new goalie today. What does that mean for Deano?

Not a lot I imagine. Any hint of talent big clubs jump in because they know just having their clubs name attached to the player will guarantee their money back if it doesn't work out.

That's the head answer.

The heart answer is he's agreed a five year deal with Dem Blades.

That's not your heart, that's wet dream material!!

Raw figures for passing accuracy are going to be hugely skewed by the ratio of short to long passes, aren't they? We don't tend to pass out from the keeper so most of his passes are long balls that are naturally less accurate. I'd say Hendo needs to work on his distribution but he can't be that much worse.

I asked someone with links to Man Utd this yesterday - this is the response i got:

They are after Onana from Ajax for £40m, if De Gea went. Henderson wants the guarantee of first team football.

I don’t see the logic in paying £40m when they already have a proven PL goalkeeper on their books.
Also, I don’t see where De Gea would go?

Spain:
Barca - Ter Stegen
Real Madrid - Courtois
Atletico Madrid - Oblak

Italy:
Juventus - Szczesny
Milan - Donnarumma
Inter - Handanovic

Germany:
Bayern Munich - Neuer

France:
PSG - Navas (this is the only viable option, but would De Gea want to go to Ligue 1?)

I’m not in charge of Man Utd’s transfer policy, but there is plenty of press chatter about their interest in Onana, both last summer and pre-xmas to suggest it has some sort of factual basis. Reading between the lines, you’d conclude that they either see him as De Gea’s direct replacement or long term successor. You’d also surmise that they don’t currently rate Hendo as highly as Onana or they are yet to be convinced.

Bayern have already signed a replacement for Neuer.
