MGW wasn't with us during the promotion season

Hecky did well to secure the loans of McAttee and Doyle from City.

Promotion and a semi final and if McAtee and Doyle had been available then who knows.

We had Ndiaye that season but MGW was the season before, in 22/23 we usually had McAtee playing as a 10 behind Ndiaye and Mcburnie.

He did a good job with us (with a cracking cup run too) but it's also worth noting that the core of that team were Wilders players, Mcburnie, Norwood, Egan, Baldock, Berge.

Sorry , I don’t rate him. He had a cracking squad available to him. Don’t think he’d get much out of this squad now. I’d rather stick with Wilder this season until we get new owners. Any fresh start should come.

I’ve always been an advocate for Hecky. But having old managers back (and players) as an easy option gets on my fucking tits.
I know the word progressive has been hijacked over the years, I want to see this club make progressive appointments and signings. Yes, the board shouldn’t have sacked Wilder when they did, but it was their following two decisions that has really fucked us up…Appointing the wrong man in Selles, then going back to Wilder on their knees.
Now we’re in a state purgatory with terrified owners on the retreat.

FWIW, I don't think PH will touch us with a barge poll. No way is he coming here, or anywhere, as anything other than Manager or higher. He's still young enough for another 10-15 years in the game.

Agree. Though would reassess November and if we aren’t seeing genuine progress look to put in place a well thought out restructure looking to the future.

Although going in to the Premier League and losing his two best players in Nidaye and Berge on the eve of the season and apart from replacing them with Souza and Hamer (neither of whom were poor signings), he wasn’t given the money to strengthen and that was a job too far for him (or anyone else). The writing on the wall came with the Newcastle hiding.

I think he is a vastly underrated manager and I fully expect to see him at one of the local League One clubs with aspirations at getting in the Championshp. I’m looking at Barnsley. Huddersfield, Bradford or heaven forbid, the pigs

Hecky did well only because the players were bought to fit the Wilder system
Slav was sold a dummy but let’s not forget apart from all the other signings Slav wanted to play his style but didn’t get he was manager when Gibbs White signed and he gave Ndiaye his full debut as he’d been wanting to play him from the start of the season but couldn’t until he’d signed a new contract

'Failed' is subjective. His board obviously thought he failed, which is what counts. I think his record at PNE was about par.
