Hecky, ffs

Only Fallowfield has actually said he wants Hecky replaced.
The rest are desperate for him to succeed.

There was at least one other regular poster on here who was saying Hecky should be sacked, after the draw at Boro. Plus others who said as much, without using those words explicitly.

It proper boggles my mind, tbh, given Hecky’s record last season.

Ok , I'll take your word for it.
Don't forget this thread was started after an abject mf performance at Boro by a poster who wanted better from mf.
On reflection I think Hecky was , for once , hiding his true feelings in the post-match interview , which is why , as an honest man , he came over so awkwardly , because hiding from the truth doesn't come naturally to him.
Clearly his boot has subsequently found its target up certain players' backsides , because mf has improved markedly , especially in speed of thought & speed of transition.
I was concerned from the interview that A. He hadn't recognised our deficiencies in mf ; B. He didn't have the personality to kick lazy backsides & C. He didn't recognise that his subs were possibly not the optimum choice to win the game.
Since that opening game , he has made selections & substitutions which show that he's recognised & dealt with A & C.
Also , I am forced to infer from the improvement in Norwood (and to some extent Fleck) that he's also delivered B.
As a result , the whole squad looks to be gelling together quite nicely in a good team spirit.
Fingers crossed the club don't let Hecky down and the window closes without any bids being accepted.

Wunt say i hate him but he's a prick at least I can see without my wilder specs on
I'm not a fan anymore because I'm a hecky fan and don't agree some of his ways but why the name calling BCM? What has he done to you? Do you feel better venting such anger? He might think same about you?

Have a reality check lad.

Some can’t help themselves , the match thread is the same , while it’s 0-0 they are slagging to fck , suicidal if we go behind and melt away if we go in front ,

Particularly like the one sonofbruce that said Norways manager said Berge won’t be going to the World Cup if he stays here … even though Norway have not qualified 🤣

What if we got a decent midfield player that can score with a free kick!!!
Is that too much???
Looks like we found one in the end
Match of the Day creaming themselves over Trippier's free kick. Norwood's against Blackburn was as good - in fact probably better as it had a wicked curl on it but you won't hear much about that

But this is the internet, no place for facts here, just opinions.

So Hecky out after Boro, then after Sunderland and Blackburn give Hecky an extended contract.

After all he must have seen the light from reading this forum, changed his training tactics, man management and team selections all within 7 days.....

Until we lose a game then we can revert to our previous opinion. Or say 'told you'.

Actually "I hope I'm proved wrong" is the go to get out.

Emotions and lack of sleep = brain fart!

At least that's my defence. I'll always own up when I'm clearly wrong, which I was with that one! 🤣

Because he ( or she ) is either someone who gets a hard on (or equivalent, but I won’t be crude and say what) over people commenting on their posts and is one of those ‘please look at me’ types, or simply just leaning towards the daft. Maybe a combo of both?

looking back every year we. get the doom and. gloom merchants. always complaining the 6 to 8 players they'd have us sign have been missed

but here we. are top a bench full of. Good players and tearing defences apart now

there's a fantastic spirit in the squad and all are playing with smile on their faces and as a proper team

that's through good management plain and simple
get in the programme and join the positivity for once instead of. the. wait till we drop a point and have a dig attitude

What even is the punctuation in that post?
Never seen anything like it.

I can admit that to me, the Boro result was a disappointment at the time. I am a big fan of PH, but I believed he was being too cautious with the tactics and his substitutions.
This was after the disappointment of the first game of the season against Watford. Away from home against a recent PL side loaded with top performers up front.
I thought his reasons for not playing our new players at Boro was weak, but he has since been proved correct. The were not all ready, (apart from Anel).
I don’t think anyone is fooled by our current league position, especially with a tricky away fixture coming up.
Maybe the players have encouraged PH to relax a bit with his away caution, or maybe not!

I’m still a fan whatever happens at Luton. These amazing guys are going places. Just imagine we suddenly found: A top LWB, a challenger for RWB, and someone who can give Jimmy Fleck a rest?

Dreams are made of this. (A song in my head, and now it’s in yours). Hahaha

Not sure I agree.

Think as a general rule it’s dangerous to take any notice of league positions after 5 games, some teams are in false positions due to good luck, bad luck, injuries, developing teams etc. Regards United we’ve already had a lot of injuries and we’ve not relied on luck. Apart from Watford when we had injuries, we’ve been the best side in every match. So I'd say we are better than our league position suggests but we're already top.

Also I doubt we’ve hit anywhere near top form yet and I expect us to improve as the season progresses.

So the signs are worryingly really good. Using logic there’s so many factors to suggest we’ll finish top 2. The only concern is up front but thankfully we can get goals from defenders and midfielders.

This was even mentioned on the Radio Sheffield phone in last night where Rob Staton stated that the top end of the Championship seems weaker this season, he said there appears to be no teams as good as Fulham or Bournmouth. Also said the 3 relegated PL teams of Norwich, Burnley and Watford are the weakest PL trio that have come down. Even mentioned that even the play-off teams of Luton and Huddersfield look weaker this season and pre season favourites West Brom and Middelsboro have all had poor starts.

So his conclusion was that United have a realistic chance of finishing as Champions and an excellent chance of finishing top 2.
We just need to get our away form sorted and be more positive when playing away, starting at Luton on Friday.

Mostly decent points, but as you say, after only 5 games played, it could be foolish to think we are already the best.

We have an amazing squad and a manager with foresight and other essential qualities. On the face of it, there is no reason to think we won’t be close to the top two come the end of the season.

My point is, football, and the championship in general, is very unpredictable. Please don’t make the mistake of thinking everything is cut and dried already. Previous experience, and many years as a blades fan have taught me that much at least.

I’m optimistic about our future this season, but let’s not get carried away with a few good home wins eh.

Agree things can quickly go pear shaped.
Blackburn Rovers started the season winning 3 out of 3, however the signs were there that they weren't as good as their top of the table position suggested.
So it's no massive surprise that they've been brought down to earth with two successive 3-0 defeats.

I never judge us too much on one off results or even one off performances.
Against Watford I was concerned. Although we looked solid, only conceding a daft totally avoidable goal
I was concerned by our lack of creativity. It did enter my mind that we were over reliant on MGW last season and without him we might finish mid table.

However since this match we've looked very good, especially in defence.

At no stage last season did I think we had a team capable of promotion. I even felt a bit weird playing Forest in the play-offs because I thought our team was massively below PL standard and needed another season to develop in the Championship.

It's early days (as you say) but the signs, regards performances, look surprisingly good.
Take the Millwall home game, impressive 1st half then we sit back and defend in the 2nd half. Normally I'd feel nervous thinking we'd concede against a dangerous Millwall side but they could have been playing another 90 minutes and they still wouldn't have scored because our defence looked so solid.

Credit to Sunderland, they gave us a game and adopted a positive approach but we were still dominant.
Top of the league Blackburn were shockingly negative and we made them look shockingly bad.
This team has far more quality than the Wilder promotion team, we also have a much stronger squad than the Wilder promotion team, so the signs looks really good.
