The only misrepresentation was the word "big" - post 82 you spoke of the "senior BBC twat....being murdered".
You provided the name of your head doorman and boasted how the local villains wouldn't mess with him. A quick search reveals some of the things that he has been accused of.

Quite possibly door staff were 'taxing' dealers, but if it happened during my stay at the club I was unaware of such activity. It also indicates that whatever previous trouble had occurred we had managed to minimise said problem. There's no panacea for curing greed, but you can do you best to make sure that previous trouble doesn't repeat itself, which is what we did. Hope that helps. I can itemise various door incidents, but nothing happened that caused the police to want to remove the licence at the time. Which, I hope, shows that we made progress in addressing this matter. Your comment about the owners at the time I managed the club suggests that we knew but chose to turn a blind eye. All untrue of course, but if you choose to suggest otherwise could you let me know dates and/or individuals during the time I managed the club rather than something based on gossip or being ITK?

That sort of thing with door staff goes off in most clubs, still happens today. Whether the poster who was the manager knew about it or not, he certainly wouldn't be admitting to that either online or not.

You don't have to keep saying you and everybody else in authority there didn't know. I get it. I didn't say you knew, I said I was amazed you didn't.

As things stand, you'll forgive me if I tire of this. If it's point scoring you appear to be interested in so far you're way, way, ahead mate.

Eddie, I did say I wouldn't comment further on the forum but for the sake of clarity here's my take.

Your comment about post #82 reduces the context of my meaning, but your choice of response. Whatever search you refer to, perhaps we'd all benefit from the luxury of hindsight. Unfortunately for myself, I didn't possess this talent so was not inclined to ask said individual about any other activities he might be involved in. You can grasp that, surely? My job was to run the club, not be the arbiter of moral behaviour for employees or customers. As long as a night passed without too much trouble I felt we'd done our job.....or is that an unsatisfactory reply?

I don't see there's much to be gained by this "I said, you said" commentary. I hope you agree.

Unless it's a "dancing around the handbags" venue, drugs are as big a part of clubbing as alcohol is, probably even more so then than now (no idea, I haven't been to a club in many years). I make no moral judgement either way on that, but didn't you even consider that if you were offended by drugs, you were in the wrong game?

I don't recall mentioning my own view on the use of drugs. As for my choice of employment, by the criteria you suggest, do I avoid a supermarket if I happen to see a user of illegal drugs shopping there? It neither offended or caused me to feel elated if someone took drugs and paid to enter the club. As long as they weren't caught by myself or anyone else (which did happen by the way) I was relatively content with the behaviour of those who paid to attend. It's the same as patrons of SUFC who choose to attend a home game and are clearly enjoying their substance of choice, do I forgo a visit to the Blades?

There's loads of lads some good mates of mine who's normal match day agenda is a few lines.
It's not my style the beers good enough for me but I'm not going to judge them.

For years now watching United has been a few hours of quality boozing with an hour and a half of shit football in the middle. One of the best away trips in recent years was Leyton Orient in the Cup at the start of 2009. The match was called off so we just did the drinking.

If I was managing anything where criminal activity was taking place I'd make it my business to look at it from all sides. Bit of investigation.
You've already said you weren't responsible for who your employers put on the payroll or contracted to provide certain services so I suppose I can see where you are coming from.

You're right though, it's got tiresome.

You calling a popular Blade who was murdered a "twat" is the only inflammatory comment on this thread.
You introduced the name of the Nottingham man a few hours ago, "someone our local hero wouldn't confront" and "a bigger fish", yet now you don't know much about him. It all came across a bit "my Dad is bigger than your Dad".
I don't think anyone has questioned how you managed the club.

Eddie, given that this is out in the open I'll stand by my comment about any Blade who involves himself in activities that are injurious to others. Ok, he was popular, but with which particular segments of Blades associated fans? Does being a Blade mean you're above criticism?

As for your comment about Chris Bailey (that is who you're talking about, isn't it?) I knew Chris professionally, and only through the club. Does that answer your question? Whatever followed Chris around was something akin to the rumours you'd associate with anyone who could look after themselves. I never asked or ventured an opinion, now, what you choose to make of that is your affair.

You seem to be approving of the Blade who was murdered, your choice of course. My take was based on information provided by the South Yorkshire Police. They had informants within the ranks of the BBC, so I guess that offers a reliable perspective to form an opinion on. You may disagree, but this is now quite some time ago, you appear to want to offer an opinion that I choose to differ about. Fair game, let's disagree, or isn't that enough?

I don't blame you for not elaborating on Chris Baileys firm they was a really bad firm not to crossed.
Many of us knew LD right from him being a young kid and I can tell you at heart he was a sound lad he got mixed up in the big league the rest is history.

Tell you what Eddie, there's more than a whiff of you reassembling facts and truth to suit your own view of history. I wouldn't wish anyone to get killed/murdered, but does that mean their behaviour while alive needs to be airbrushed because it doesn't suit the opinions of other people? As for your comment about whether I was a success or not, I did what I did to earn a crust without harming anyone else, or doesn't that somehow meet with your view of how life actually is?

It was actually me who was djing 😂.it was at a club on Matilda street called Area 51 but it used to be the capital. Who told you the story ?
 

all clubs had greater or lesser versions of the bbc in the seventies as that was the culture
fortunately time moves on, people grow up
Whereas it was a big part of the culture then
It has very little relevance now , except to the keyboard warrior types and tends to be more bluster than rumbles
I mean the owls ultras, how sad do they come across as, its more characterture than reality now
