I think if anything though, that shows we're going about it the wrong way. If we have the best quality chances on average but still have a low xG (and goals scored) then the method clearly doesn't create enough chances.

I prefer our way of doing it by the way, I'm just staying how I read those stats.

Either way, better quality forwards should improve the numbers.

We have to work hard to fashion chances no doubt...

Agree, if we could play a similar way with a truely deadly finisher (who can burry a half chance) and maybe someone in the middle more adapt at creating (the Duffy role) for the side we should see an increase in goals.

That would help us create and finish more chances.

It’s based on my opinion. And my opinion is that he is neither as good as people think or works hard enough to ply for us. Work ethic has been a pretty major part in getting us to the PL and to the style of football we play.

United do have a tendency to overplay it at times. I have seen countless times when we have been patient, got ourselves into a great attacking position, ready for a shot... And then turned round and passed it again for another opportunity. We were guilty of over doing it, a bit like the Arsenal side used to do years ago.

If you watch the games against Burnley and Southampton, and see how quick they are to get a shot off versus us trying to find the perfect opportunity. We need to sharpen up on this aspect and be quicker to get out shots off if we get half a chance to do so.

If there was the tiniest chance we could sign Grujic he'd be great for the RCM slot. Tall, good in the air, decent tackler but very skilful and good going forward. But I think the transfer fee would be high and there would probably be "more attractive" clubs after him

Our game is built around building up to quality chances not taking pot shots from 25 yards out. So can’t really see where he fits in.

Would be a nice change to have some threat from direct free kicks though.

Thing is as most of our attacking play tends to come down the flanks so we don’t seem to win many free kicks with a direct shooting chance. And when we do get in central positions we don’t “win” free kicks as easily as many other teams with their diving / rolling around / screaming ( eg Xhaka for Arsenal in FA Cup final !! )
