Looks like we are nearing the end game here, See Link, while this is going to cause some shit I think it was always inevitable that we were going to lose him if we didn't go up this time around.

We now will more than ever need to improve the striking options as the defence will not be nearly as tight this season, one nils are not going to cut it.

The article that was written before Nigel's interview saying no more bids and all bids have been rejected? Hmm...

But that report doesn't actually say anything does it. The words 'hoping','the feeling is' and 'believed' basically mean the newspaper haven't really got a clue.

As for the defence not being as 'tight',really depends on who else NC brings in if Harry leaves

I reckon Butler is the Maguire replacement, and for all the wuming some are doing on this thread
I am starting to accept that Harry will be off in the next couple of weeks.

One thing HG is right about is we need more and better options upfront ( not hanging on until October for you know who either)

Exactly. You have to remember that this is essentially the Brummie version of James Shield writing this.

Nail on head. Local hack filling the dog days of summer with fabricated crap.

Anyway, looks like the Hull boat has sailed - they're preparing a joint bid for Michael Dawson and Jake Livermore from Spurs - £8m - which should make United aware of what clubs are prepared to pay for slightly-above-average defenders.

Now the way I read your post, Gav-lar, was that it was your "friend" that told the staff about him going nowhere - you need to be far more specific on these things to offer the necessary level of clarity to avoid panic in the ranks.

I am more interested to know how Maguire Senior made this earth shattering announcment to the staff in the bookies. Did he stand on a chair and say "hear this, hear this, Harry isn't going knowhere, even for two million quid" or was it less subtle?

Paul Walker's words this morning that Harry had "pulled out of contract negotiations" but that NC was "very relaxed" about the situation.

It's always good to relax after pulling out.

Indeed. I bet Steve Bruce was relaxed after pulling off two of his players at half time in the semi....

I think he said, "I'll bet my house Harry doesn't go for less than £2milllion quid." ;)

...so...do you reckon someone on our board, perhaps quite close to the Hull lot has had a word and said:
"Look, Wolves have offered this (let's say 1.5m) as a final offer , if you offer a bit more and hit our target ( let's say 2m) we'll smooth everything out?"

Perhaps send him back on loan or some such..?

Not unheard of eh and for a Prem team it would be a relatively small amount...

If we sold him I wouldn't want him back on loan. I'm actually all for him going now and us getting a young, strong defender with a bit of pace like Harrison McGahey to be honest.

I would love to see the money spent on a quality striker (and if there is some $$ left over, bring back Coady). Butler is a have decent replacement for Maguire.

Butler may well be ok in place of Harry, but we still need a third cb as cover. Two isn't enough now Hill has gone and Kennedy is to remain with the development squad

Looks as though if Hull offer anything above £2m he'll be off. I'm sort of in the frame of mind where I would let him go if he's refused contract talks now. Spend the money on Brayford in my opinion. Maybe another centre half also.

Personally I don't understand this
"I wouldn't have him back on loan" stance.
Hull are Prem team, in Europe! With an CB who's played at the highest level as manager!
"If" Harry does go I'd pleased as punch to get him back on loan!

Why cut your nose off to spite your face? We've just got to get out of this league this season and then rebuild the squad in the Champ!

UTB!

The way I see it is if he doesn't want to be with us in this league, then he should go and stick to his main reasons, not come back to get game time and try impress his new employers more by using us

Like we did with Spurs when we sold Kyle Walker......

Personally I'd rather use the game time he'd get with us to bed in our new centre back on the basis we do go for a young decent prospect, rather than improve another teams player.

Nothing against Harry and fair play to him if/when the move happens but we should then move on and keep planning our rise through the leagues.

TBH I just want to get the hell out of the first division..... If that means improving other teams players....sign em up.

Can't see the hull move materialising, they're getting Lescott and already got a good few young CB's coming through the ranks

I understand that viewpoint...but, if you don't like loans then no Brayford, Coady et all...only difference loaning Harry back would be his history with the club.
If we could get someone as good/better then great!

I'm with you all the way

Seems inevitable to me that he'll leave now, so good news if other teams are interested - we should be able to bump the price up. How about starting the bidding at £5M Brucey?

If Harry wants to go...he should go. But I wouldn't want him back on loan. He'd be much better off sitting on a bench than helping us up through the leagues.

... Because the practice of buying up young talent just to loan it back out and not play them in your own team is immoral and conceited. One of the worst things about the EPL is the stockpiling of young players and prevent others getting any benefit. It's the essence of greed and should be legislated against. Restrict them to only 5 loans out in total at any one time - that will make players and agents think twice about parking their arse on a bench.

Different from Coady or Brayford as they weren't getting first team football.

If Harry goes then I wish him well but I don't want the same shit setup as happened with Walker again.

One word of warning for him. Wolverhampton is a complete shit hole and the inhabitants are a couple of genes short of a full deck. Hull is glamorous compared to Wolver'ampton.

All gone a bit quiet with Wolves now that they have resigned Stearman. I personally think it would be a mistake for Harry to leave this season because he isn't a shoe in infront of Batth and Stearman. Also at Hull, he might just get a few Europa games unless Hull sell Davies. Even then, would Hull risk their premier league survival on Harry.

Harry, sign a new deal and give some money to your agent that way. Don't sell yourself short for a bit of extra cash now. if any doubt, ask your old mate Slew.
