My opinion is that he would be very hard to replace. Made the team of the year for each year we've been down here. That is some achievement, personally I think Clough values him at 2.5-3mill. There's still a good 3 months left in this window and it's inevitable that he will depart at some stage.

I'm not sure that he will depart for certain. I cannot see him moving to a Championship Club tbh because if all goes according to plan (praise be to NC ) we could be a Championship Club next season. How many Championship Clubs can be considered to be "better prospects" than us, assuming that we DO have "Liverpool style investment" and that we're not being bullshitted by the Board ?

Now if an offer came in from a Premiership Club, well that's a different ball-game, however, I agree that NC probably values him at around £2.5m to £3m and I would be surprised if we let him go for less as he has to be replaced long-term with a CH who can operate effectively in the Championship.
UTB & FTP

I agree. There's no reason for Harry yo sign for Championship side when we will probably be there next year. If anything he will move to the Premier. I really don't want him to go and believe we will get better value out of him by keeping him here till the end of his contract. If we must sell him we must get at least 3 mill up front and also a 25% sell on clause and other add ons.

It is disappointing that Harry appears to be looking around but no doubt his agent is saying let's see what offers come in. I don't think we can really blame him. If he can say double or more his wages and play at a higher level then that would clearly be furthering his career and anyone would want to do that. He would then have to weigh up the offers and decide whether to move is in his interests. Every player has his price and at a high enough level NC may decide that overall it would be in the club's interest to sell. I would hope that this would be nothing short of £3 mill. This might enable us to bring in say Brayford and Coady but not necessarily as it is their wages that would be a problem with the FP restrictions (which I confess I do not understand). As with others I have complete faith in our Nigel to do the right thing.

No one takes into account the advice he receives from his agent who will have numerous stories of when a move was the best thing ever for his Client and also where a move paid out more on compo.

Imagine a bad knee injury and giving up the game, insurance paid out on £18k/week is a lot more than paid out on £5k/week, lots to take on board.

Why can't the club just post that as an official statement. Its refreshingly honest and up front (even though we all know that was what was going on) and keeps everyone informed without breaching any confidences. I've no idea why we haven't had people with this approach before. If we get the truth, even if we don't like it, I think people would take it better than the countless lies and half-truths we've had to swallow (Brown's replacement is already at the club / Beattie flu / selling our best players is the best thing for 'the club').

Jim Phipps in my hero....
So sounds like it's his agent who wants the move (commission...) not Harry. Hope his agent realises Harry's development in the long term will be best served at the Lane under Nigel

I think making it an official statement would get the club into trouble. I cannot believe how impatient some of the fans are and pressurising Jim Phipps into giving answers. The club cannot force any players into making decisions. As for agents, they are the biggest drag in football!

Not sure how much more people want Nigel and Jim to go. I am more intrigued with our next signing than worrying about what happens with Harry. If he does read this though, please choose your next move wisely because not everything at Wolves is gold.

I agree that due to Harrys potential he is going to probably be a multi millionaire by the time he retires, the only thing that can derail that conclusion would be a serious injury. So why don't Utd acknowledge that and say that if he signs a contract extension with a release clause should we fail to get promoted next season, then they will increase his personal Insurance to pay him £5,000,000 in the event he suffers a career ending injury whilst playing for us? That way he can't lose?

Bloody agents, a right pain the rear aren't they?!

If the club are in no position to have to sell then make him play out his contract, if he plays a blinder and we go up then he has even better value next season but is also more likely to re-sign with us. Everyone wins.

Alternatively he sulks, gets benched and his value decreases. Hardly in his interests for that to happen is it?

Personally, I think we still hold the cards on this one.

I think he'll be sold within the next week, with Clough's approval.

We'll be receiving a decent fee for someone given the contract situation, and it will allow us to bring in some top targets.

I personally think the club have handled this very well.

you think the club have handled it well based on your guesswork that they will sell him?

According to various reports, Curtis Davies is attracting quite a lot of attention - think his contract at Hull is up this year - so maybe they are the premier league team various rumours refer to.
If they come in with a decent offer and we can persuade Matty Fryatt to come the other way as part of the deal, I wouldn't be too dissapointed.

Fryatts out of contract isn't he? Sure someone said they were in a similar situation to that we had with Porter.
Not sure HCDM, last I saw he was in contract talks but don't know if his current deal is up or if Hull are trying to extend existing deal.

I recon when Harry gets back from all his holidays Nigel will sit him down without Harry's agent and Nigel will explain that his agents advice is only for his own short term gain and Harry will stay as it sounds like Harry wants to stay, just his agent putting the idea of money into his head.

Ok,make as much of this as you will.
Harry`s Dad goes in the same bookies as my friend, and he told the staff in there yesterday that he was going knowhere, not even for 2million quid.
3mill should seal it then???

Now the way I read your post, Gav-lar, was that it was your "friend" that told the staff about him going nowhere - you need to be far more specific on these things to offer the necessary level of clarity to avoid panic in the ranks.

This is consistent with my mate (who happens to support the Dark Side) meeting Harry's dad at a seminar a couple of months ago. Maguire senior said that he thought Harry should sign a [2 year] extension and then make his big move at the end of that period.

However, it isn't particularly consistent with them halting talks though. Unless ........... One thing that has occurred to me is that Harry's agent is trying to establish Harry's market price and potential wages. If it all goes tits up again at the Lane, they could try for a move in January.

I'm still hoping he'll stay, extend his deal and delay his inevitable departure for a year or two.

Looks like we are nearing the end game here, See Link, while this is going to cause some shit I think it was always inevitable that we were going to lose him if we didn't go up this time around.

We now will more than ever need to improve the striking options as the defence will not be nearly as tight this season, one nils are not going to cut it.

did your mate notice whether Harry's dad had a bet on Harry to be top scorer for Wolves next season?

But that report doesn't actually say anything does it. The words 'hoping','the feeling is' and 'believed' basically mean the newspaper haven't really got a clue.

As for the defence not being as 'tight',really depends on who else NC brings in if Harry leaves
