It's the money on offer that's the issue with Harry
It's the money on offer that's the issue with Harry
That means that money bags Wolves have been telling him how much more he can get if he moved to them with their parachute payments - and I suspect that Kevin McDonanld will have had a hand in that discussion. Harry will be either using this as a gambit to increase the package on offer from the Blades or get cheesed off and decide to cut the chord.
It'll be a fine balance for NC to work with because the more he gives to Maguire the less he will have to work with for additional players and remain with the FFP rules - Harry will no doubt not recognise that the more he takes out the pot the weaker we will be collectively as a squad to compete for the promotion places. I doubt that he will be that bothered to be honest. He will point out that he was player of the year in the Blades squad and got the vote for the FL1 Players player of the year - fair points I guess but worrying that it is all going to come down to money - maybe he has also heard that we have had some game changing investment, we are determined to keep hold of our home grown talent and he is actually testing the waters.
A journo's just tweeted that Harry is open to contract talks after a bid between £1-2m.
Nothing we hadn't assumed but gives a little clarity if true on where we are and how much control we have. Probably won't be able to compete with Wolves in wages imo, probably shouldn't try either.
And so he should, whoever is involved. The most worrying thing is Clough has a tendency to out anyone who thinks they're bigger than the club and ask for large pay rises. Done it at both Burton and Derby when the big players want pay rises. Although they were different situations where both clubs had no money and Nigel had to reduce the wages significantly.

Andy you know this because......a) You are his Financial Advisor, b) You read it on BM or c) You are just presuming so
HM has rejected The Blades offer of a new contract. (Top ITK source no joke) United are willing to listen to offers and are hoping to spark a bidding war amongst Championship sides.
The £1m bid by Wolves will not be accepted they will have to at least double that to be considered.. However the sad news is that Harry Maguire has played his last game for us.
Iv'e been told the same, and as i elluded too the other day ,he would have signed ages ago had a decent offer been on the table.I tend to agree about a wage structure but at the end of the day, like all successful football teams, you sometimes have to bust a gut to get or keep what you have, and as we have shown ever since i can reckon we sell, sell, sell,IT WILL NEVER CHANGE at our beloved club, unless the prince does something about it.Now come on prince, help to give our fans what they truly deserve, and you can start by keeping harry here for one more year atleast and if we don't go up let us get the nominal fee at the end of the season.HM has rejected The Blades offer of a new contract. decent offer? I'm pretty sure there will have been a decent offer, however you can't just chuck thousands at him risking upsetting all the other players at the club who are not even on half of his wage can we? The incentive of being future blades captain at such a young age should be enough to be honest.Iv'e been told the same, and as i elluded too the other day ,he would have signed ages ago had a decent offer been on the table.I tend to agree about a wage structure but at the end of the day, like all successful football teams, you sometimes have to bust a gut to get or keep what you have, and as we have shown ever since i can reckon we sell, sell, sell,IT WILL NEVER CHANGE at our beloved club, unless the prince does something about it.Now come on prince, help to give our fans what they truly deserve, and you can start by keeping harry here for one more year atleast and if we don't go up let us get the nominal fee at the end of the season.
31yr old pal grew out of telling porkies years ago, and not to mention he was a drunk as the next person (Harry) like I say believe what you want in your own little harry won't go cos he's been with us since 6-7yrs old world. I'm not going to come on here an tell lies, when he does leave if he does I for one wish him well and will be going round to his grandad Alan's (whom I've known since I was 5, my old footy coach) to do so.Cannot for the life of me think that Harry would tell a perfect stranger details of his personal life?
Some people seem to get a real buzz by telling porkies,
But then it's easy to hide behind a keyboard!
you are going to pretend you meant that smith aren't youSomeone needs to ask how we allowed Harry to get into the last year of his contract, however as that is what it is £2 million is a par deal and acceptable in my eyes. I have to worry for Harry that the big move is to umm Wolves. If Hull did have a bid before I am sure they will be back, considering their extra games in the Europa Cup.
I also still say we should crank a deal with Wolves that they leave us free to sign Coady before the Maguire deal is signed. Let's get Coady signed and a promising Centre back from the lower leagues with Smith and a right back. Everything else we had before this deal can go on a striker.
Get the money spent on some young quality players.
Its seems that all of the talk that Harry is a "home bird" appear to be rubbish now. If he fails to see that we are on the up and doesn't want to be a part of a close squad based on togetherness then I say good luck to him and thanks for the couple of years he's spent with us. Why wouldn't you want to be a part of a potential title-winning season?decent offer? Yup, very true if a player doesn't want to stay with us they can go for me, no players bigger than the club and I believe Clough could bring in a decent replacement. He's already brought good players in to strengthen the squad. Personally I think it's all rubbish and he will sign, sure I saw his brother said they are off to Dublin soon I wouldn't imagine he would go anywhere if his future wasn't sorted. Its seems that all of the talk that Harry is a "home bird" appear to be rubbish now. Looks like the after the investment comment about now being able to keep our best players wasn't really that at all
Should have said we now are able to keep our best players provided they accept whatever we stick on the table
The statement should mean we can now go the extra yard and offer a salary that enables the club to keep it's most promising, better players.
Is that happening?
I live in hope
Hmmmm
I think you are guessing...
