Steve Bruce has confirmed Hull City have pulled out of Harry Mcguire deal with Sheffield United. #hcafc

Well if this is true that's good news as they haven't yet got anywhere close to a realistic offer for Harry.

Maybe his agent will have to rethink his strategy for "leeching" money out of the Harry situation. My guess is that Harry will be glad so have the situation sorted asap and get back to playing football ....... can't believe that he was ever happy with the thought of sitting on the bench smelling of haddock !!!

We've been quite consistent in that we've had a valuation that we won't budge from - Hull just don't seem to have got the message and seem to think either we'll compromise, or Maguire himself will kick up a fuss and engineer a move below that valuation. Neither has happened. Still plenty of time for this to change, but have to say if this is the first test of the new regime then they're dealing with it very well.

I must admit , i thought he was long gone ... Step in the right direction off the field for once

This club is in good hands (Y)

left out of the side vs Dundee because he "spent too much time in the sun on Thursday"? You can't expect us to believe that.

I'll believe he's staying when September 1st rolls around, but not until.

He's not yet gone, but we have indeed allowed them to talk to him.

Won't be long.

It looks like i may be in a minority here when i say i had hoped we'd strike a deal and for once cash in. I don't believe Harry has the qualities to be a top class defender and is definitely replaceable in this league, if we could of stuck out for 3m then i think NC could have brought in some quality to win this league. I find Harry a bit slow and also drifts a lot i have to say i was surprised when a prem club came in for in because personally i don't think he is good enough.

I tend to agree with davidpinder. Whilst I had hoped he would stay because he has been a good player for us, I'm not sure he will be able to make that step up. I hope for his sake I'm wrong and wish him the best of luck if he does move, but I'm of the opinion that £3m is a great deal for SUFC.

His replacement is already at the club.....

If this money doesn't go on bagging us a top league 1 striker then is it really a good deal?

So do we think this will trigger a few signings into the club then, maybe the elusive striker?

I for one think that could be the reason we have let him go, are all the other signings requiring a transfer fee??

If we are getting 2-3M for him that should free up funds for about 3 top level 3rd tier players (fees and wages).

Win-winm it seems to me (as long as the money is spent wisely).

Was going to post this on here last night but thought it was bull.

Was sent a text by a mate last night RE Harry. Apparently after the golf on Thursday Harry withdrew from going on a meal with the team. Clough asked him if it was because of the contract offer and then started shouting at him. Apparently Clough told him he’d never play for him again and he better hope the transfer went though. On the match against Dundee he was ready to play but didn’t. He walked down the tunnel 10 mins from the end to get changed. After the match once he was changed Clough sent him back out to do some running.

Again thought this was bull when I received it but maybe something in it.

Also SUFC offered 4k compared to 10k at Hull.

This is why you always have to let a want away player go, his heart isn't in it at your club anymore, you have to just hold out for as much as you can and try to spend wisely.

Couple of things,1)we were promised significant funds at the end of last season for this season without selling ANY of our players, and ive yet to see the funds materialise,so with Maguire's funds we must have a lot,and 2)nobody knows if its a good deal until we have seen what has been done with the cash.and 3)sun stroke?..why the fuck are they lieing to us yet again, talk about been dis respectful to the fans.

No matter what people are saying I find this desperately bad news. Best player at the club gone and I'm not so sure he'll be replaced to the exact standard like people are suggesting.

Also, despite the fact we will see a lot of money for this I cannot see us finding "that elusive striker". Yet again I'm actually really disappointed.

Will be sad to see him leave. He's got the one limitation (pace), but he's generally done very well for us and I've loved his trademark forward runs on the ball. Great composure and technique for a centre half, very strong and brilliant in the air. It won't be easy to fully replace him.

Harry could be a good defender with the right partner but quick skillful strikers in the Premier League will target him and I can see Harry playing Championship level football within 2 years. Good luck to the kid but if we got £3m for him then I think that this is a good deal.
Bruce probably sees a bit of himself in Harry though Harry is better with the ball, all he needs to do now is find a Pallister to play alongside him :-)

If that is true then well done Clough. A player acting like a child isn't needed around a club.

All the best Harry.

Always going to happen this and i'm glad he hasn't gone on deadline day like I feared. Could turn out to be a good deal but if we don't use the money wisely it could cost us promotion. I don't think we need another centre half. We have two proven League One defenders and a youngster who is expected to play at a higher level before long. Then we have Kennedy who showed last season he can make the step up.

We can turn this into a positive by strengthening the areas that left us down last season. We won't find a better centre half than Harry at this level but at the same time not many League One clubs will have a better set of centre half's than us. We could get three players with this money. 2 strikers and a right back. If those signings are good ones then we'll have come out of this looking better for me. Big few weeks now
