No wonder players have no loyalty to clubs anymore ,looking at the way some fans have turned against Harry. He has been a great young player for us and will earn us a lot of money ,cant we just wish him good luck ?

Ah! So it's our fault is it? Bit like if the wife fucks off with another man. 'We had some good times together, but don't expect me to wish her well.'

If it's Hull, it will soon turn into a bad move for Harry. Dawson, quite rightly, has turned Hull down citing that 'He'd rather stay in London.' (Who wouldn't?) Hull just make up the numbers in the PL and the thought of Harry up against Sturridge and Sterling, Man. City, Arsenal etc. is truly frightening.

Maguire is a very good player, particularly at this level. However, he's only got a year left on his contract so if we can hold out for our asking price - which is probably in the £2.5m+ add ons range - he is replaceable and his departure would let Clough acquire the final pieces of the jigsaw: a 15-20 goal striker and two defenders, one of whom should be able to play either centre half or full back and the other on either flank.

I'm intrigued to see where he ends up. Adding the rumours together you've got:

Hull - he'd be fourth choice at best but as a Premier League club they can offer higher wages.
Fulham - he's a straight replacement for Brede Hangeland and would probably be first choice. Not sure they're good enough to go straight back up, even with their £23m front line of Mitroglou and McCormack
Forest - perennial play off failures. Close enough that he wouldn't have to move away from his family and with a reputation for paying silly wages and big fees.
Leicester - out of the running
Wolves - probably out of the running as they won't pay the asking price.
Wednesday - if they're as rich as they say they are....

Wherever he ends up, for me he'll go down in the Jagielka category of a decent Blades player who I'd wish well for the future (unless it involves playing against us, in which case I'll take a Jonathan Woodgate's Real Madrid debut-esque disaster (see http://www.theguardian.com/football/2005/sep/23/newsstory.sport8 or http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/4273704.stm)

Players move on and sometimes it works for them and sometimes it doesn't. This is by no means cut and dried but if he does go and the club are happy with what they get then the best of luck to him.

Has anyone got the audio/video of this interview? To me it sounds like the media have rehashed the Collins interview saying Maguire wants to play PL football...forgetting to mention the 'with sheffield united' part.

Heard we've agreed an upfront fee of 1.7mill with a further 500k for Harry's first senior England Appearance and a further 500k if he plays 25 games with Hull.

We also refused to buy Cahill for a fee of £1.5 million from Villa preferring instead to spend biggish money on Carney the Aussie. After turning Cahill into a good player he moved to the mighty Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa couldn't believe their luck. We primed him, they got the cash, we got Carney.

That's some way wide of the truth. We were toe to toe with Bolton on the transfer fee and he was open to coming to sufc but we we're blown out of the water when Bolton offered him a signing on fee which made him a multi millionaire overnight.

You've heard wrong. We have agreed nothing at all. Either you, or whoever is pulling your strings, are making up stories.

Absolutely disagree with this. If we don't get the full amount offered, why should we accept? Leeds played hard ball and ended up with £11m for Ross McCormack!! If we do have this all powerful, financially amazing new ownership (can you guess I'm still sceptical?) we should not take any less than he is worth. About £3m I think.
Ross McCormack wasn't in the last year of his contract.

Hull are definitely still very interested in him. He just needs to work out if he'd play although if I were him I wouldn't go for Fulham either.

Just read some of the statements.
He/his agent is publicly forcing the issue now...will we be able to hold out for £2m??
Get rid soon as.

UTB!

I say let them force whatever they like.
It works both ways. We have something that someone wants to buy, so they can pay the asking price for it.

If we are comparing a £2 million fee now against him playing for another year and then leaving with a tribunal fee to be set I think we'd be better off keeping him.

He wont sulk and throw a strop like some are suggesting because that would be career suicide. Suarez might be able to get away with that but Maguire certainly wont be able to. Any strop or lack of conviction will see him playing reserve team football and nobody being interested in him come next season anyway.

We don't owe it to our players to grant them a move because somebody can pay them more money. The asking price has to be met otherwise they should be told to foxtrot Oscar.

At the moment Harry has no choice as to where, or indeed if, he should go. No club has met our valuation. Unless and until that happens, he will remain a United player. In the meantime he would be well-advised to keep his own counsel. Sadly, footballers are very rarely well-advised.

The mere fact that Harry (or his greedy agent) has (or may) have made a silly comment (I have yet to see a source) is utterly irrelevant. I really want a three month break in The Maldives. Don't suppose I'll get it just by talking about it, do you?

Yes, I agree with most of that...but in reality it's a situation all parties 'could well do without'

I have little doubt that Harry would give 100% in the Blades shirt, however the situation could become disruptive...

Number of rumours flashing around (mainly from the less credible sources) of agreed fees this evening.

To my knowledge, the position hasn't changed yet.

Whats our fault ?

Either it's brinkmanship or the deal is done and we are being prepared for the news. The club are clearly in purdah, big Jims tweeting fingers aren't working tonight.

Does it matter though, we will still be going to support the team whoever plays for them.

Me thinks an agent is getting desperate surely Harry doesn't think Hull city is a good career move, still he would be well paid even if 4th in line for a game. On the plus side he might get a couple of games in Europe should Hull come up against Aberystwyth Town before going out to FC Shakhter Karagandy the giants of the Kazakhstan Premier League. I predict in two years time we will be higher placed than Hull City or is it Hull Tigers. If Harry believes all his agent tells him well ..................... who was it who said footballers are thick ?
If that is what Harry truly wants then let him go but only on our terms, if he throws the rattle out of the pram let him rot with the youth team and take compensation in a years time. It really is in Harry's interests to perform to the very best of his ability whether he wants to be here or not.
Wanting to go to Hull tee hee, that is laughable.

This is the crux of it really. I think the fact the Hull are trying to get him on the cheap makes it look like he was a backup. If your Hull in the premiership raising your bid for someone to go straight into your starting 11 shouldn't be a problem. I so so agree about Fulham, however they would be a better move for him than Forest or Wolves.

If I was Harry the only club I would have been interested in joining out of those 'interested' would be Leicester.

At the end of the day the fee will be what it will be, he can't go any where until united say so even his Dad told me this at a wedding at mosborough hall on 28th June. For all you doubters... Didn't say anything else other than he can't move any where until united give the green light! Id hold out for 3m with add-ons then let him go, after all he's only got 12month left.

I am pretty sure Nigel isn't stupid enough to think that Harry is a shoe in for 1 cap. Swap that add on for 'premiership survival'
