Nah... Think he is via his Turkish Mum.

I'm not religious, but happy enough to indulge in any festival of any flavour that involves feasting.

And happy enough for any Blade to share their best wishes (and their Mum's pakoras?)
A few of my colleagues in my team have booked tomorrow off work for it, although that might just be because they want a day off and so decided it's Monday! I have told them that's fine, but they must bring in any leftovers on Tuesday. They usually do and we get loads of excellent food that keeps us going for a few days!

Last night at the Dundee v Rangers match, there was a match break for Ramadan.
The Rangers players who observed were roundly booed from a section of their own support
and a rendition of 'GSTK' was heard from the stands. In response, the Dundee support,
belted out a stirring version of 'You're Not British Anymore...'

Religion and Football are now in the same recipe book.
Which I never realised until I saw Mo Salah praying on his knees.
If you think that's bad .. Imagine when the Pope dies what it'd be like if they have a minutes silence before a Rangers match. 🙄

One of the lads at work regularly brings pakoras and samosas into the office fresh from the oven. Those are the best days.

There are quite a few Asian grocers round here who sell samosas which are clearly made at home. If you get there reasonably early they are still warm from the oven and they are sensational.

Try one of those, then get one from any of the supermarket lunch fridges and try to convince yourself that they are related 😀

I’m calling bollocks on this, there’s just absolutely no way that rangers fans could act like this and make idiots of themselves… 👀

I’ve said it before and will say it again, weirdest fan base in the U.K. and it’s not even close.

The biggest reason people will kick off about a thread like this is their inherent belief that Muslim = bad. It’s quite obvious that they don’t know many (if any) Muslims or have any interactions with people of that belief throughout their lives. It also comes from a place where people think they’re all the same… they’re not.

My other half for example is Muslim. Yesterday was Biram (Turkish Eid) & I spent much of yesterday morning munching down on Lahmacun with my partner, her mum, the kids and a few other resident Turks. We also enjoyed a few whiskeys together in the evening. It was a lovely day.

Eid Mubarak & Biram kutlu olsun to all our Blade muslim mates x

I sense a snowflake.

Here's a good little interview with Anel as he breaks fast from the other day. Clearly so hungry he doesn't stop to talk on TV without eating 🤣

I was quite surprised with Anel’s response on what promotion would mean to him given the context of the interview

Expected a couple of platitudes….”my dream is to play in the premier league etc” but gave a really honest answer in relation to how things were last time.

I think Cooper and Hamer will be the main two contenders for player of the season but I’d be voting for Anel. It’s been quite a redemption arc given what he’s had to overcome and it’s been fantastic to watch. Aside from the rush of blood against that Bassette cunt (and who could blame him) he’s not put a foot wrong all season and I fancy him to do well in the PL should we go up now his personal issues and illness are in the past. A proverbial Rolls Royce of a defender.

Eid Mubarak to all the Muslim blades out there.

Veering away, but still retaining a hint of humour, but still serious.

Lydon's childhood, his not mine, was spent in a number of cities/towns.
When he lived in Coatbridge, just outside Glasgow (Albion Rovers).

On his street, a Muslim family moved in, the very first in the area.
There was a lot of not understanding what a 'Muslim' was, but in order
for them to be assimilated into the neighbourhood, they were asked,
"Are you Catholic or Protestant Muslims?"

Eid Mubarak...

Eid Mubarak to all, I used to work in Page Hall and had lots of Muslim colleagues. I did Ramadan with them for 3 years and it was really difficult, no water, not even chewing gum for 17 hours a day. Full respect to anyone who does it.

Hope theres many celebrations this week for all, Nafees samosas and gulab jam for me

I was under the impression that alcohol was forbidden in the muslim faith .

Your impression is correct, but also reiterates my point that not all Muslims are the same. Much like every other religion, people will follow as much or as little as they like - Islam is no different.

I suspect if that 'law' was enforced in Turkey there would be a revolution!

He was up there as my favourite player when we got promoted. Last season I would've gladly never seen him play for us again - glad he's honest in that he didn't want to play because it showed in many games last season. His redemption has been very good to see.

If we do go up, we'll likely be on the end of many more losses than wins - I hope we've got the right group now to deal with the mental side of that.

Not sure I'd be comfortable joining a cult that can't even agree when Eid actually starts but ho hum. But yeah...Happy Eid for those celebrating. Just for balance, Happy Divali, Happy Easter, Happy Hannukah and Happy whatever the Buddhists celebrate. Phew....think I've just about managed to dodge a bullet there (metaphorical and literal so put the uzi down all you extremists...🤣🤣🤣)

Well without getting into a religious debate... Eid begins when the moon is first sighted after a new moon. As the earth rotates, countries such as Indonesia look for it, but if they don't see it, it's not Eid. Then as you move westwards Saudi Arabia look. If they say it's Eid, then most will follow that. Ideally, each country would search for it themselves and then declare Eid for themselves. Can you imagine in the UK though, with constant cloud, they'll be no sighting!

Thank you for the explanation....I think. 🤣🤣
