He's got a release clause of £500k to a premiership club ;)

He's also on about £2.5k a week at present, so providing its a medical with the right people and it goes ok, sounds like this one might happen!

If we sign him for £500K and he turns out to be the bizz and is even better than Leigertwood, that'd be a bargain!! :)

if he fails the medical can he sign? is it a club thing like the club saying we dont want him hes unit or is it a fa thing where as you cant sign a palyer with a niggling injury?

Just been watching some of his goals on Bladesworld and he certainly seems to have a good eye for goal, and scored a peach of a goal similar to Konchelsky's goal in the FA Cup final this year for West Ham, except from the other side of the pitch.

West Brom made Curtis Davies a hot prospect last season when they purchased him from promoted Luton, could we do the same with Halford if we sign him?

Well, being injured didn't stop us from signing John Ebrell for a million quid, more's the pity. Most expensive 30 mins play in Blades history. :(

Not seen the guy but if he is pretty cheap he is worth a gamble but still would like to see abit of proven quality sign for us.

only one halford i know and they make bikes! oioioi

Halford reveals Blades bid
20-09-2006 12:47

Colchester United ace Greg Halford has revealed the U's rejected a bid from Sheffield United before the transfer window closed.
The England U21 international had been heavily linked with the Blades and has now confirmed their interest in his services
Halford told BBC Sport: "Colchester received a big offer for me from Sheffield United but it didn't happen, the chairman wanted me to stay.
"All I can do now is give 100percent on the pitch for Colchester - and I don't think I've had a bad game this season."

Looks he was our deadline day midfielder.

Sheffield Utd confident of deal for Colchester's Halford
tribalfooball.com - October 19, 2006

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock will make a new bid for Colchester defender Greg Halford.

The Sheffield Star says Warnock is convinced he can persuade the Championship newcomers to part company with the defender in January.

Off back in for him again scored against wednesday so he will make a perfect signing. :)

Blades Target Wants To Leave

By Blades-mad

Monday 23rd October 2006
Sheffield United target Greg Halford has made it public that he wishes to leave Championship side Colchester United in January 2007.

Halford, who saw his club Colchester reject a seven figure sum for the Defender/Striker from the Blades in the last transfer window has stated that he would like to leave Layer Road.

Halford said; "My transfer request is still in, I feel I have stepped up to Championship level but believe I have Premiership potential. Every player wants to play in the top-flight and I'm no different.

"The club could probably go out and buy three or four players if they sold me, but it depends whether they want to let me go."

The desire to leaves comes after the club lye 13th in the Championship after winning automatic promotion last season. A defender, who knows is way to goal is a huge asset for any club - this was demonstrated last week when the U's demolished Sheffield Wednesday to a 4-0 victory with Halford claiming one of the goals with a sweet 30 yard shot.

If the Blades do plan to make a bid for Halford then they will have to wait until January when the transfer window re-opens.

He wants to go handed a transfer request in.

Another chance to see Greg Halford in action tonight against Coventry on Sky Sports 1 (if you have it).

It's a bitter-sweet one for me this; I would like to see him as a Blade, but as I was born in Colchester (Essex boy!) I have a soft spot for them and I don't want to see them sell all their best players. Danns already went to Birmingham, I have my doubts that Jamie Cureton, Chris Iwelumo and Kevin McLeod will still be at Layer Road at the end of the season :(

Apparently this time round....

Sheffield United have had a £2.5 million offer for Greg Halford rejected by Colchester.

U's boss Geraint Williams wants £4m for the right-back, 22, and said: "It would be a blow if anyone left - but every player has his price."

Again, not worth the £4 million.

I would be surprised if anyone paid more than £2 million for him.

Most definitly overpriced at £4million and wont be coming to the lane at that price I am certain

No bid....

Contrary to some reports in the media, United have not made a £2.5m bid for Colchester's Greg Halford.

Since the opening of the transfer window, the Blades have not made a renewed bid for the coveted Championship player.

Football Club chairman, Terry Robinson, states: "Halford is a player that has interested Neil Warnock in the past and may do so in the future but we have not made a bid of £2.5m as reported.

"We did make a bid for him in the last transfer window and could return with a similar bid as the player is six months closer to being out of contract."

Halford, 22, has played the majority of Colchester's games this season, helping them to sixth in the Championship

Sheffield United want to sign on-loan Sunderland midfielder Greg Halford on a permanent deal, but will need to pay £1.7m - Daily Star

Would we really be able to afford his wages?

He's trying to price United out so he can come and be my personal man slave.

That's the real reason Beattie went really... said I was distracting him from his football.

Who's that laughing? I can hear you! :D
