Get me back on that Kop!

I don't think he was making a huge point mate, just getting excited and enjoying himself. He already said he'd got 3 kids, not everyone can afford season tickets for all that lot....and obviously folk can't buy tickets on the Kop at the minute (and nobody knew that would be the case at the start of the season). Season of goodwill and all that pal, give the feller a break!
Not having a pop or owt, but the fans that have caused the kop issues are the ones that need moaning about, not folk that have gone to watch a game of football.
The supporters on the BLUT might not be the singing sort, apart from Ricky, it usually quiet up there, and moaning about the atmosphere when your not a regular up there isn't very respectful of the regular fans that sit there is it.
At the end of the day, there are only the "fans" that have caused the problems that you should be moaning about.

There was some abuse towards the referee, I understand you usually get the usually chant that the referee is a wanker but they shouldn't be taking the piss, making threats etc etc.

Some folk just aren't big singers at games, me included. It's just the way it is and it doesn't mean that we aren't fully behind the team.

Songs aside, when it comes to screaming at the ref and shouting the players on, I can be a bit of gobby cunt though.

Exactly. And you don’t need a big bag of fake Charlie and someone’s hand to hold to do it either.

The point of the post was largely aimed at those that caused the issue with the Kop closing BigBed, not trying to have a pop at them either, just a plea that when it's opened again lets get it right so we can all sit there if we desire as I do. I'm not trying to have a pop at the BL upper, it's just frustrating when the atmosphere isn't as good as it could be (I noticed Iliman jesting with arms to the crowd when we scored to sing up and I totally get why he does that) and very few join in, that's all I'm saying. It has been like that on the Kop too often also but when I go on the Kop naturally that's the place to sing. I've got my own reasons for why I'm not a season ticket holder, but I do go regularly and always have since 1990, I don't think that devalues what I'm trying to say mate. Anyway, not meant to offend anyone, and hope you have a great new years BigBed.

I for a long time have said that both top corners, back of the kop, should be sold as match day seats, I think that would raise the atmosphere greatly, but, you have season ticket holders in those areas too, so it isn't going to happen.
I agree with you that the atmosphere is quite flat, and without your weekly influx of a bit passed folk coming to the game and singing and shouting it will probably stay that way.
The fact is, these days, the majority of ST holders are a bit older, me being one, but, I don't sit on the kop, I sit on the south, and we do have a chant and a sing, admittedly its not like the kop at full tilt, but, its not the kop.
I understand your frustration at not being able to sit where you want, but, thats the issue thats caused the issue, people wanting to sit/stand where they want, isnt it?
I hope it does get sorted, but, i reckon, as soon as they open it back up, the same problems will occur, and next time, I fear things will be worse, and it will inevitably end in a lot of fans like yourself, missing out because of it.
Hopefully I'm wrong and you get back, failing that, if you want to take your kids and have a sing and shout, get tickets on F/G/H on the South, theres plenty of us on there that enjoy a bit of a sing song!!
Happy new year to you and yours too!
UTB!

Went on the BL upper today right at the back hoping for some atmosphere! I tried my best to start it and a few joined in and I'm sure most around me thought I'd had about 6 pints but I was stone cold sober and just being me! Got the three kids next to me saying "Dad start a chant" all match but it was hard work I promise you! Get me back on that Kop! So the point of this message is, please, please, please lets sit in our correct seat when it opens again, I don't want to be in that BL upper again to be honest! And in the meantime, if you're on that Kop sing your heart out! This is a real special season, a real special set of players and from thee BL upper the Kop was too quiet. I don't want to come across as having a go, the atmosphere wasn't bad but we're top of the league and playing some great stuff we should be on top of the world and it doesn't happen every season when we're this good.

So I hope you all have a great New Years, this season is ours for the taking.

UTB - God bless

Books.
We’re second - so that’s why it’s so quiet 🤐- it’s just not good enough or special enough

(Only kidding - but we are )

I don't get it??
If you want to sit on the kop so badly, why not get a season ticket on there??
You have more fun sitting indoors watching them getting lagging no queuing for a piss or pint than nowadays people barely celebrate when we score it’s shit and needs to change

Great post BigBed , fully agree with everything there too. I don't actually think the atmosphere is that bad in fairness, just that we're top of the league and you and I know that this type of season doesn't come across every year, this is probably the best team I've seen at the Lane and I include the Wilder PL team too in that although the way they played every week at full tilt to the maximum was a force to be reckoned with that's for sure. This team is similar but with that added touch of class. I mean, I've never seen quality at the Lane (playing for us ha ha) of Ndiaye, Berge and Anel. Berge can be frustrating but he's still a wonderful player to watch.

I think one of the main reasons the atmosphere is less than what we desire, certainly as a comparison to the Wilder promotion season, is that we know we've got a great team and there's an expectation to get promoted and in many ways rightly so with the money spent on this team and the experience and quality in there. Hecky doing an amazing job though I have to say that, I really like him. We've only spent two years out of the PL, whereas back under Wilder, Warnock and Bassett we'd spent 12-14 years out so getting back was something we'd not done in a while so it was a huge deal. I also think there's still the hangover from that second season and a fear we don't want to go there again! I can totally get that to be fair also!

So back to the point and I think if we get promoted and can secure safe standing even if the kop isn't extended, I know that needs to be in conjunction to the safety certificate from Sheffield CC, then I think we'll see a real difference and if in the PL we know when we're the underdog the Lane is a fearsome place for away spectators to visit. I had a glance on Owlstalk for a comparison on what they think of their crowd (I don't go there often honest! and I saw one fan saying "Wednesday fans are crap these days" so we're not alone here in being critical of our own fans. I think that if you're on the kop people should ideally sing unless they can't for some reason, certainly if you're towards the kop. But not everyone wants to singing at the top of their voice, some are just more reserved whereas I'm very outgoing, love starting and joining in with chants.

Anyway, I'm so pleased with United right now, I'm sure we all are and it's exciting times ahead for sure!

You might have more fun sat a home, but for me its a social thing aswell as football, meeting up with my mates for a few beers and a match, win lose or draw, its the day.

Totally agree pal I’ve spoke to some that can’t be fucked with going anymore because of atmosphere etc. I wish I could go every week still but I think it were better 10 years ago than now just my opinion

Apologies for being critical but can you try and condense your posts there to long pal

Thanks

I think its an age thing too. The lad is 16 now, has his ST, meets his mates, spends to much on clothes and thinks its a fashion show rather than a football match, and he's just found cider!!🤣
But weve all been there, unfortunately, a lot of todays youth, intact anyone under 30ish, seems to have a totally different understanding of common sense to me?, and that shows with the issues being highlighted.

Don't forget the "Bloggers" or whatever they're called, trying to film the entire day on their phones, then posting it online for a bit of attention, before updating their facetube to tell everyone whats in their shit!

😁load of bollox pal back in our day your try and keep your presence quiet at certain times if I see someone blogging I will change direction in a heartbeat. Peoples choice what they do but I get anxiety at thought of filming myself at football fucking hell im definitely over 30. 😂😂😂😂

Bramall Lane Upper Tier isn’t the place to go if you seek a buoyant atmosphere. It is usually made up of cliques of hardcore fans that appreciate the best view in the ground or people that have freebie tickets due to work, their partners work etc.
And the singing section is up there

I spent my early years trying to avoid cameras, and it hasn't changed, especially at football!!
But nowadays, banging on Windows, throwing stuff and carrying a knife whilst filming yourself, appears to be the trend??

Didn't think you were being critical Mike, yeah I struggle for condensing at times! In essence, I hope that when the ban is lifted on selling match day tickets on the kop we can sit/stand in the correct place otherwise Sheffield City Council and the police will be continually monitoring the situation and we don't want any part of the ground to close. I love the view from the BL upper but not the atmosphere, but then again if you want atmosphere best to go on the kop, but obviously I can't at the minute. So does that make sense, hopefully so mate!
