Boro supporters on 365 are hoping he's more of a winger based on his shocking goalscoring record...

He's not scored more than 13 in a season and has an almost 1 in 5 ratio. They're after Assombalonga too for roughly £16million

Tomlin could be a good signing.

Braithwaite also plays wide I think but his goalscoring record is decent over the last couple of seasons in Ligue 1, playing for quite a poor side. Boro need that sort of quick, lively attacking player who'll score goals. They don't need to go and spend stupid money on someone like Assombalonga - not least because he has a serious knee injury behind him.

I fancied them for the title and their signings have only cemented that. Howson and Christie are good ones, they look like getting Sheyi Ojo on loan and they're after a quality keeper too. With Ojo and Braithwaite in particular they're getting exactly what they need - they're shaking up their attacking options with pace and quality.

What Wilder has shown, and proved, is that with a keen eye you can buy players who have the qualities to succeed from just about anywhere. Surely the key is just how good the player is, not where he's currently playing?

The obvious player to point to in this discussion is Jamie Vardy. Admittedly, not many of his quality about, but there are enough to warrant continuing to look. I understand why looking at a higher level might bring in a higher quality of player immediately, but as we know, paying a king's ransom doesn't guarantee success. For fairly obvious reasons, we have to trust in Wilder and Knill's judgement. The pair of 'em have managed, within a few months, to change the Blades from a bunch of ordinary looking players into a team/squad whose desire and willingness to play attractive football, compete for one another, and give us something to be proud of, is something that took all of us by surprise. We're now back where we belong, so whoever Chris brings in they'll get the support they deserve. We may suffer more defeats, we may be on a very steep learning curve, and to be honest, I'm not that concerned. What matters to me is what I see on the pitch, and given what we all know about Wilder, woe betide anyone who doesn't give their all as they emerge for each game,

On the other hand we never make do with our own youngsters, quite the opposite.

If Brooks gets playing time that would be a big step forward for the club. All our young hopefuls need to believe there is a 'Pathway'.

The reason I mention this on here (and yet again) is to demonstrate that Wilder is not taking cheap options all along. Our own kids are the cheapest option and not one has had playing time in the first team to this day.

My money is on us getting a Bournemouth player or two.

Wilder is a personable man. Eddie Howe is in the same complex with his squad. I'm sure the two will get together to talk football, L1 to Prem, where the value is in the market. Where the two clubs can be mutually beneficial.

That's where my money is. Maybe Bournemouth have gone up so quickly they don't have the infrastructure or the Academy set up we have, but without doubt they will have by now have accumulated some quality players who will not see their first team this coming season.

Yeah, they have a young goalkeeper they could loan us. I think they call him Ramsdale :)

Lewis Cook would be nice

Hull getting absolutely mugged. Looks like they inserted low relegation release clauses. Huddlestone gone to Derby for £2m too.

Assombalonga looks like he's all but signed for Boro. For £15m. Fucking stupid money but they look very strong indeed now.

Think the new Hull manager is a pal of Abramovic at Chelsea - expect a number of their youth prospects will end up on loan there - so hull will probably be alright next season (despite the sales)

If Monk can find a formation to suits Assombalonga - they way he set up for Leeds for Woods I think they will be top 2.

They'd gone a bit stale in the attacking department. I can't see that being the case anymore.

Add Assombalonga and Braithwaite to Traore, Ramirez, Bamford, Stuani and Gestede and they have a bit of everything.

On top of that they have 5/6 reliable, good quality central midfielders to choose from and a rock solid defence at this level.

I struggle to see them finishing outside the top 2.

I think Hull will be closer to mid table than automatic spots. They've been decimated, haven't recruited yet and have a foreign manager which makes things a little less certain. They seem a bit of a mess.

So Assombalonga plays less than 25% of games for Forest due to a serious knee injury scores at about 1 in 5 and they get 3 times what they paid for him - Jeeez, I bet the Forest board are enjoying a few sherbets tonight.

My mistake - duff stats
Not just you mate a lot of people seem to think it. It was the season before he had the knee injury and missed basically the whole season.
Last year was just a few niggles but he managed 32 games - I think coming back from an ACL that ain't bad at all.

I'd rather have him than absolutely anyone in this division apart from Kodjia. Certainly that duffer Jordan Rhodes.

If I could have any centre forward in the division it would be Chris Wood. Fancy him to be top goalscorer again. Think he's the most reliable all things considered. Leeds did very well to get him for £3m, thought so at the time too.

Funny to see Rhodes is currently 4th in the betting for top goalscorer. Especially now he's playing for them.

We just can't compete with a lot of clubs in the championship budget wise. As well as the parachute clubs we've got the likes of Derby spending money like it's going out of fashion and the massive Bristol City spending 5m on one player.

There's an article in the Star saying that since the start of the premiership we have made 15m in net transfer fees whilst the pigs have spent a net 35m. While ever this continues...and it has again so far this summer with 5-6m coming in from Walker, Maguire and Murphy, the manager is going to struggle to compete in the transfer market and we will be reliant on him picking up gems like Fleck on the cheap.

Harry Redknapp once again proving what a careless irresponsible wanker he is - Birmingham are trying to sign Ashley Cole, Stewart Downing and Robbie Keane. All three of them. Old, past it, expensive. Classic Redknapp signings.

I'd hate to have him managing my club.

Exeter City have accepted a £1.8m bid from Brentford for striker Ollie Watkins.

This would be a fantastic signing for either of them. Boro really look to be building an embarrassment of riches.

Now Newcastle have got Jacob Murphy it seems their bid for Ojo has been withdrawn and he's off to the Championship on loan.

We'd be a great option for his development but no doubt LIverpool are far more concerned with who'll pay more of his wages.

So they go from Westwood... to Johnstone... to Darlow... and finally to Randolph. And still end up paying £4.5m. Outstanding.
