Incoming? Gary Madine

I have always liked Madine even when he played against us. Would be a good signing in my book. Really impressed with his hold up play, has a lot of skill and a good touch for a big bloke.
To be honest though the lack of any signing is starting to make me a little nervous. I really think we need to make a big signing in the next week to calm a few nerves. Back in for pre season next week? Although I’m the last person to tell Chris Wilder what to do but I was a little disappointed to see Cranie and Coutts being released, would have loved to have seen Coutts in the Premier League. Chris will have it all planned though, I just hope we don’t panic buy if some of his targets don’t pan out. By the way the sooner that fucking shit in the courtroom is sorted the better. Keep the faith, we are Blades.
 
We're stuck in a groove, one where money seems thin on the ground. Subsequently we're scratching around for known quantities, but we need better than the names suggested, something I'm sure Wilder is painfully aware of.

We're at a level where we'll be tested, and for the Blades to compete we'll need to be at our best. I can't say that some of the names mentioned will do anything other than fill a space and add little benefit as we compete to remain in this division.

Daniel Lafferty's final goal, to clinch the game against Chesterfield, meant we went up from League One on 100 points.

Gary Madine's goals and Scott Hogan's goals helped us secure that second place in the Championship, and automatic promotion to the Premier League.

They played their part, and don't deserve to be slagged off.

Might not be what we need, might be too expensive, given what their respective clubs are valuing them at, or maybe CW and AK just think we need something different, but CW has always spoken about his admiration for both players, Madine especially.

Lafferty played a much bigger part than Madine or Hogan.

Agreed, my favourite Madine moment was the last home game against Ipswich when he was subbed on. I think we were 2-0 up at the time and a grown man sat next to me boo's his introduction and then sits there with a face like a slapped arse due to him being on the pitch.

In a lower league, yes, and I always thought Lafferty was fine. When we lost to Preston, away, in a very poor game, it was Lafferty coming on that sparked us into life (too late).

All I am saying is that everyone who played for us this season, and especially anyone scoring to help us earn one point, or three points, played a part in helping us secure that second place finish.

If the price / deal is right for us, i would be happy enough to see us go in for him.

Other forwards are a priority, but he could also be a very useful player for us next season. He wouldn't be prolific but i think that he would do a fine job for us and score some goals. He shouldn't be too expensive to obtain either.

A signing nearer deadline day maybe?

I suspect his agent has already been fairly constant in speaking to CW anyway, as i reckon we will be monitoring him (amongst others).

Do you think he'd ever get a game? I can't see it tbh. He couldn't get a game at Cardiff before he came to us. He's just not Prem material - nowhere near it actually, imo. I think the lad is Championship level at best - and even then he's not amongst the best strikers at that level.

I honestly don't see any point in bringing him back - even for free. We'd still have to pay his wage. I'd let the lad find his true level and be happy somewhere else, getting regular football, because no way will he get that here.
 
Look at what Lorentte did for Spurs i think madine could cause havoc for prem defenses.

Reckon If we sign Maupay we’ll be in for Madine cause he’s a big lad but probs not with mcburnie.

Though washing machine was very good last year
