What I do know is that Selles was pretty annoyed by the players slack pre-match routine. He was getting into a few of them about nutrition and warm ups in the hotel. There’s some videos floating around on Snapchat / tik tok taken by some of the staff.
Original post is a load of rubbish.
But I can see how a change in manager will bring out this side of things.
I have a lot of respect for Wilder and for what he was able to do, but his management style and ethos I think is a world apart from Selles.
Wilder had players on a journey with him through comradery and team spirit. They fought and they battled and I can imagine they had a few drinks etc.
A change in ethos is a lot more hard work than just changing tactics. The board made it clear they wanted to change the direction of the club (not team).
I remember when Pochettino was successful at Southampton, how detailed and all encompassing his ethos was.
I have no idea really if this is whats happening but as a club we have for a while really prized our academy. If we want to keep bringing through really top tier players, they have to not just be good, they have to have the lifestyle and desire to go with it. Not only to help the first team succeed but in reality, so we can sell. Role models in the first team you could argue should be seen to be professionals trying to be the best they can be, not out boozing and kebabing...
I think Hamer is a really good example of this, there is no doubting his quality, but he has been quite open in that he just likes being able to turn up and produce magic, rather than working hard in training etc. (there was some lucozade sponsored video of him and O'hare). I am not suggesting we should sell him, but if you don't focus on this season, and instead on what might make the club as a whole stronger, this type of behaviour doesn't improve the club.
