Friday's a reight shout. Only need one day off work.

I wasn't gonna go but now I quite fancy it. What's Malaga like? Good night out?

Video the spanish site posted was a bit cringeworthy. No shots of the stadium, just the players popping corks to "we are the champions"

Sorry to disappoint everyone (well I'm disappointed) the game will be played at Coin, a small village around 25 miles away. Very small ground, looks really pants. :( Can't see the Malaga first team players playing there, so they will probably put out the reserves or the kids! Very poor from United 'Thought we were big time now?' I know it's only a training game but why are United prepared to play at a ground like that? Come on United we should be doing better than this, sort it out or don't go. If we were playing at the proper stadium then we would have taken loads, very disappointed!.
I follow Frickley Athletic and our Westfield Road ground is better and probably safer than that.

Bollocks, should still be good for team bonding but crap for the fans. It will basically be a training match to gaugue fitness etc and their fans won't see it as a big thing. Missed opportunity, I could see us bringing up to 1k fans to a match in a big Spanish city stadium

Translation

The Malaga continues to outline its preseason and has already confirmed the first friendly match of the summer. It will be against Sheffield United, on Friday, July 14 in Coin. Sheffield United, not to be confused with Sheffield Wednesday, in which Forestieri played, in an English ensemble that was active in the Football League One, equivalent to the Second B Spanish and that this year has ascended to the Championschip (Segunda).

That day will be the last of the first concentration that the team will develop in its summer work, and that will take place in the idyllic Benahavis. This was confirmed this morning by the sports director Francesc Arnau, who explained that the work will begin on July 5 with medical examinations and that he recognized that the South African option loses effervescence: "It had taken a lot of strength, but lost and we are valuing Other options ".

My mother lived in Coin before she passed away. It is a shame that she is no longer around as I could have gone out there and walked back to her Villa after the match.

There isn't much around there and it is a bit of a one horse town. Is it quite a way inland as well. If I was going I would probably recommend staying in Alhaurin Al Grande which is the nearest decent sized town.

From personal experience I'm no great fan of the Costa Del Sol.

Haven't they taken the "fun" out of it though?

Well yes, you'd have to try pretty hard to fall off now, and you have to wear a helmet:

You could walk on the handrails for the vintage experience.

To say it'll be roasting hot in mid-July is an understatement. Games will almost certainly be played in the evenings.

If you're going I'd highly recommend visiting Ronda, just down the road from Coin. Incredibly beautiful.

They also recently reopened El Camino Del Rey (the king's pathway), which is really quite something.

Agree Ronda is lovely. So is Mijas. Coin is not bad either.

Open Training session in Marbella on the 13th too, start time 10am! I am going to that if any Spanish Blades will be there!

A prestigious friendly fixture against a Spanish top flight team has been added to United's pre-season programme.

The Blades will play Malaga CF, who finished 11th in La Liga last season. The game will be played on Spanish soil in July as part of United’s training camp.

Former Real Madrid great Míchel is the current manager at Malaga CF, who recorded notable wins over Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao and Valencia last season. As recently as the 2012-13 season they played in the UEFA Champions League, reaching the quarter-final stage.

The friendly will be played on Friday 14th July with an 8.30pm (local time) kick-off at the Estadio Jose Burgos Quintana in Coin. Malaga CF regularly play early pre-season fixtures at regional stadiums and United have been invited to take part by the club and local authorities. Ticket information will follow in due course.

United will spend a few days training in Spain culminating in the fixture with Malaga CF. The club understand a number of fans will want to travel and an open training session has been arranged at the Marbella Football Center on Thursday 13th July with a 10am (local time) start.

New headline sponsor Teletext Holidays have selected a number preferential travel options for supporters wishing to join the Blades in Marbella. They can be contacted at 0207 741 1371 or teletextholidays.co.uk

Better than Stocksbridge fackin Park steels though.

Anyone got any ideas how to get hold of a ticket? If you need one......

I've been in touch with United who say it shouldn't be a problem. After initial concerns I can only imagine there's not much interest from Malaga fans. Possibly sending a B team?

My flights are now booked so see you over there!
