A week tomorrow and fans are still none the wiser as to where we'll play (logistics/planning), who we'll play or whether we'll play.

It's all very United isn't it...

Yep... that's why we're holding off booking.

Shame most people don't have the luxury of being able to get time off work at such late notice. Or booking it off and then having the option of working once United fuck it up.

preseason before first game back in the swamplands of L1 i went to Malta. Similarly sketchy itinerary and after faffing around via various forms of transport in search of the ground (and being suitably disappointed after mistaking the venue for the relatively impressive national stadium on route) it turned out the ground we were supposedly playing on was either not ready or double booked :D

ended up playing on some sloped wank training pitch with a few hundred home and away fans awkwardly dotted around.

all added up to the fun tho, had a great few days ! if anyone's got the spare cash or time i can recommend such trips. altho my memories are somewhat enhanced by the presence Kozzy - reyt boy.

A week to go and still nothing set in stone: http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foot...d-united-blades-hold-spanish-talks-1-7999822?

Sheffield United have held talks with at least two Segunda División clubs interested in facing Chris Wilder’s team during their visit to La Manga next week.
FC Cartagena, who play in the second tier of the competition, are United’s most likely opponents although Elche CF, managed by former Real Madrid midfielder Alberto Toril, have also been approached.

Wilder, whose squad travels to Spain 24 hours later, said: “The lads have been working hard and that’s good because we don’t want this time to be a picnic. Football is tough and so training has got to be tough as well.”

An unnamed international side, who are also establishing a training camp at the resort, offered their services earlier this month but a number of factors, including concerns about the respective fitness levels of the two teams, prompted United to look elsewhere.

Wilder, who tore-up the pre-season programme devised by his predecessor Nigel Adkins after taking charge in May, added: “This is the time when we have a good look at the lads and, equally, they have a good look at us and get to know what we want. It’s a very important period in that regard.”

Confirmed: United will play a 'Liga Domingo de Murcia' XI.

"The game has been arranged to supplement preparations as United prepare for the new EFL League One campaign with some warm weather training at the state-of-the-art La Manga complex."

Preparing for a season in England with warm weather training is like a Dutch side undergoing altitude training. Can't they just admit it's to keep the players sweet and get a bit of sun?

So you won't get a drink served or a table cleared for a couple of hours, because they'll all be playing us?

Nip behind the bar and serve yourself. Free beer, and you'll distract their number 7.

Hmmm... yeah. Looking at the cost to see us play a Murcia XI, I think we'll be giving this one a miss.

It's the Murcia region players, not Murcia themselves.
