I'm a lifelong Blade but I'm always beside myself with disbelief that folk will follow them on a pre season tour after the years of shit we have had to endure.

Must have more money than sense. Enjoy.

That sounds very doable for folk not wishing to drive. I'll be hiring a car myself to drive from Alicante to La Manga (we land about 10am on 14/7). It looks a nice drive down the coast and can take a few coastal towns in on the way to break the drive up. After the game we're setting straight off back up north for a few days in... wait for it... Benidorm!

Done a bit of research on who we'll face. Locally, there's only Hercules, Jumilla, La Hoya (the 'broccoli shirt' team!) and Cartagena who haven't finalised there pre-season schedule. But most Spanish teams don't come back for pre-season training until 11th/12th July so doubt they'd want a game so soon.

believe Everton are there and one of the bundesliga clubs as well as Espanyol

You just at La Manga for the game or staying the night?

Is anyone else making the trip?

La Manga itself looks fairly pricey but there's a few hotels in Santiago de la Ribera and Los Alcazares. - think we'd be hiring a car anyway.

got an email from the club with the following info

the training will commence at 09.30am and then we will head over to Si Bar after, so about 11.45 I reckon…

They players will hang about after training to meet everyone, but not be going to Si Bar as they have to refuel then train again!

Dave

so dont go to Si bar to see players , just staff

Blade too long: Question - Coming from Canada, we will arrive at Cartagena train station, do you happen to know the choices to get to La Manga? OK not speaking Spanish?

Handy when the flights land at 10:40 that morning!

There is also no guarantee that the match is in La Manga - opposition still hasn't been decided so it could be any Spanish team at their gaff apparently.

theres an info desk at railway station they will inform you of bus , tram and where to catch it its 15 minutes if that , miight be cheap enough in a taxi

We're having second thoughts - planned on going Wednesday while Saturday due to work but the earliest flights land at Murcia or Alicante around 10:30. So we'd miss the training session. No big deal but while there is no definite fixture in place, we can envisage us going out there for nowt.

Will wait and see for a fixture announcement I think.

There was only one "open session" mentioned previously though.

The only Spanish you need to know

¿Hay un bar por aqui?

TOP TIP: you can blag it by going to the dentist and asking him to anaesthetise half your mouth so that you can pronounce 'Cerveza' as 'thurvetha' in order to get a beer.

Alternatively just ask anyone that looks like they're working and with orange wrinkled skin, in English as undoubtedly they will be Brits

Or even "thurbetha" depending where you are.

Play it safe.... just ask for una jarra (pronounced HArra in a sort of raspy way).
