Why do you listen to it if this is how you feel?

That's what the BBC would say. 'If you don't like it, you can always turn it off.' Der, what about improving the quality so more people listen to it? I don't listen religiously, it's just a bit of background 'wallpaper', but last night I was expecting to hear the reasons behind the Burton match being called off early, whether McCabe's meeting in The Copthorne was off as well and a rational, unbiased critique of Wednesday's latest accounts (not Staton's cringing 'explanation' about how they include 'Ladies football, charitable donations, community work' etc. but nothing about the ficticious D Taxis, Chansiri using every inch of space at the crumbling Hillsborough as a marketing opportunity etc.)

There was no mention because, as others have said, the usual suspects were allowed to drone on and we had identical 'travel news' every 15 minutes.

I’ve not listened for a long time so I can’t really comment on the current presenters but I did like it when Seth Bennett work at RS. He was good and his quality showed, he was recently doing the Ice Hockey coverage at the Winter Olympics and has done other big events such as the World Series.

I think the issue with FH is that back in the day it was good and you had many different people calling in. It sounds like these days 80% have switched off while the 20% get maximum coverage thus you hear the same callers week in week out.

I think I prefer "'The Blades Forged in Steel" to the scum's strap line .... "the pigs, deluded and arrogant", or they could try "the scum, killing dolphins globally", or even "the filth, full of shit" o_O

Deluded, moronic, arrogant pig scum ...... f**k them all !!

UTB & FTP

The usual Wendy love-in tonight with the RS bloke (Statton?) totally endorsing Chansiri and their dodgy set of accounts.

Though over on Pork Talk they are shitting themselves,

"10 years struggling under a debt of £25 million and we’ve effectively racked that up again in 2 seasons"

"£30,520,000 in two seasons. Another £20,000,000 plus for this season?"

So somewhere between 25 and 50 million in debt.

Nothing more small time than complaining about perceived bias on the radio.

Especially as there will be exactly the same complaints from the other side of the city.

IMO radio Sheffield do a decent job - and a don’t know how we can shout bias recently lots of blades specials and wilder has been in the studio more than once.

Yer mean there is some chump in Pitsmoor sound recording people throwing washing machines full of spanners down metal fire escapes?

Heard it all now.
How's this then ? I originated from Pitsmoor, Christmas day I witnessed a domestic where a resident burst out of the door carrying the TV.
He then lobbed it back indoors through the kitchen window.

The piggies really are a thick collection of Neanderthals. Blades::forged in steel. Could it possibly have anything to do with the fact that most kinds of knife blades ect are made out of steel?. Hence the slogan blades:forged in steel which I think is class!!. UTB

They are only upset because they were about to come out with Owls Forged in Rust.

Luxury. We didn't have a tv.......or a kitchen window come to think of it.

RS doesn't do itself any favours sometimes. It flatly denies any bias whatsoever yet the contrast between how it handles the big headlines for each Sheffield club is so ridiculously clear.

Just this week they have allowed Paul Walker to go on air and essentially tell Blades that he would be 'seriously concerned' if he was a supporter following Wilder's rant and the ongoing boardroom battle. Yet just as SWFC publish the most horrendous accounts imaginable, accounts which pretty much spell out how much trouble they could be in next season, RS despatch Staton to speak to the EFL about FFP and then wheel him out on air to dispense reassuring platitudes. All along the lines of 'none of us really know what figure will be declared to the EFL' 'it's all very complicated and these accounts don't tell us the real picture' or my particular favourite 'FFP isn't really very fair at all because it stops really rich people just spending what they want on their football clubs' wtf?!

We have had other examples of course:

The coverage and narrative around Ched, with Tubby Foster's disgraceful phone in and ultimately with no sense of contrition when he was found not guilty vs the coverage of Madine which was in fact largely glossed over.

The Prince taking over SUFC and the morale crusade against Saudi money [Tubby Foster phone in part 2] vs absolute silence on the issue of human rights when that Mamadov chap had taken over SWFC, the same chap who had [allegedly] made a fortune from cosy government contracts with a regime that had the worse human rights record in Eurasia.

There have no doubt been countless other examples over the years, before I used to listen regularly, and there's the catch for despite its faults I do think we are lucky to have such a dedicated Football outlet on our local radio. The individual presenters are all quite good and whilst Staton clearly has an affection for SWFC, I don't think he is anti us, quite the opposite in fact. I just think he likes them more.

Editorially though, the whole station [not necessarily the Sports team] loves to have a dig.

'none of us really know what figure will be declared to the EFL' 'it's all very complicated and these accounts don't tell us the real picture'

Has Chansiri set up another fake company to audit their accounts as well then?!

Sorry to piss on your fire Mr Staton but if the accounts didn't tell you the real picture then they wouldn't have been signed off for issue to the public domain. The profit and loss is the result for the year and the balance sheet gives you your beloved clubs financial position at that point in time. I am entirely confident that position won't have improved in the next set of accounts either and when we add all your losses together, in the words of the chuckle brothers, OH DEAR OH DEAR.

He really is a tool and they really are in massive trouble. Good riddance. We may be a pub team but at least we are a financially stable one.

A good few years ago at a social event I was talking to an ex editor of the Star (I shan't name him in the interests of etc). He is a Blade and a season ticket holder. I asked him about the perceived Wendednesdednesdedsday bias of the paper. He denied there was a bias, HOWEVER.........he did say a good Wednesdedneday headline sold more papers than a good Blades headline.

Make of that what you will...............o_O

Very smart. So why was United's game - so far - the only one called off? Hasn't it snowed anywhere apart from Sheffield? I'm not seeking conspiracy theories, just explanations.

That's not strictly true.......

St Johnstone v Hamilton Academical is postoned also......:)

Gillingham v Millers was called off before this game, for one

There's no snow here in Liverpool. I'm gutted because I'd already got my train tickets for the game and may lose money on them!. Utb

There aren't any satisfactory ones.

No idea what's happened to this city. Gone are the days of strong willed hard working no nonsense types. Instead we're ruled by a lilly livered council and police force.

People who think a game tomorrow would be dangerous ought to spend their life in bed. It's a jungle out there.

Luxury. We didn't have a tv.......or a kitchen window come to think of it.
we used to DREAM of a kitchen
Would'ave ' been a palace to us.
We used to live in an old water tank on a rubbish tip. We got woken up every morning by having a load of rotting fish dumped all over us!
............
.........
But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe you !

Look no further than SYP/SAG.

On the match, good to give the lads a break 2 injuries last match and a run of 4 games in 12 days and after this break another 3 in 12 days. If we hadn't had this postponement it would've been 8 games in 30 days (with the 2 injuries smack in the middle). Quite happy with the postponement.

Can I perhaps suggest that we may well have preferred to see the game off to allow certain key players chance to recover and us therefore have to miss their services for a crucial game?

Blackman? My preferred choice. First goal Tuesday wouldn’t have happened, and their tails wouldn’t have been up to get the pen. The better keeper IMHO
Clarke- goals dried up but still on the whole out best forward.
Brooks- some weird back complaint, more time now to get right

On top of that it allows some further rest to allow work levels to remain high on the pitch.

Of course there does also have to be consideration for the travel situation, with perhaps half of the stadium having to make journeys in excess of 10 miles or more. Roads in and out are difficult, public transport not designed for the increase in footfall and so you can see the problem. Football isn’t life or death when it comes to saying you shouldn’t travel unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Plenty of time to play it later

I was told he used to be a big poster on Owlstalk Staton before he joined Radio Sheffield.
Yes " Indianna wants me , but Rob he carn`t go back there " Professional reasons of course , however he tries really hard to be unbiased, i could not do it . open question could you ??
