Some of you old 'uns might take a dim view of all this newfangled stuff but the FFC want to know how Sheffield United utilise social networks to spread their news.

If you're interested in taking the survey, it's HERE.

bah too many boxes to tick there linz!

Haven't been around long enough to spot any sufc items on known social networks .. filled the survey nevertheless.

Linz, it would be nice if you'd give overview of the way sufc is utilising the social networks.

It isn't really. They have a twitter account: http://twitter.com/SUFC_tweets which just takes the RSS from the main site but that's about it.

The best club to utilise social networking is Manchester City: http://www.mcfc.co.uk/ They've won awards for their site and they have an actual person sat speaking to fans via Twitter http://twitter.com/MCFC running daft competitions all day.

Some people might not see the value of social networks, but Man City have found a way of staying in touch with nearly 12000 people on a personal level.

Uniteds main site is shocking. The sooner premium tv disappear the better. Club sites should be individual not all the same with different colours! As for other social networking stuff, if we were to do anything then they'd get lambasted for wasting money on anything but the first team!:fishy:

There's a good article about Man City's approach here: http://www.theuksportsnetwork.com/245/

Every supporter who has decided to embrace what we’re on these networks has a voice that we must listen and respond to in order for us to be properly utilizing the power and potential of social media.

Some clubs may see themselves simply as a brand that exists separately from the day to day lives of their supporters and because there are no real direct revenue stream, do not see the value of social media. For various reasons, others may feel that social media is not a worthwhile endeavour for them and somewhat of a minefield that is best steered clear of. At City we’re proud of the way that the club is able to reach out to supporters and we’re proud of the way the fans have reacted and embraced what we’re trying to do.

The Blades World website is a lifeline for us expats.
It's much improved over last year. The Radio Sheff commentary link is a godsend and highlights are now normally posted within 24hrs of the game.

A far cry from the early 80's when I got the weekend results on Wednesday by waiting in the British consulate lobby for the Sunday papers to arrive.
