And what an improvement with the hair cut!

Probably old fashioned to say, but shows he’s maybe grown up and just makes him look more professional. Kids of that age don’t need bloody dreadlocks, maybe when he’s older and can walk the walk.
Bit like your local pub player wearing white pro level boots

Would be a great signing, my only concern is the word Fulham......

Well if HE chooses them then that’s his mistake.
The advantage we have is that any of those big sides have seen what we have done with Henderson. Wilder carried a huge amount of respect that has been earned, and he is seen as a great motivator for young British lads in getting the most out of them and grounding them.
Lampard, for all the battles in the last 2 seasons has been very impressed (through gritted teeth) with the way we play too.

So regardless of what the player wants I would be amazed if the club wouldn’t prefer their player to come to us.

Besides, he’s just returned from a loan in Germany, sort of suggests a move 100 mile north isn’t much of a problem. We can house share Him with one of the other unmarried lads living alone, McB would be good for a young lad, or with Mousset to keep him company.
If the lad is putting his football first we will beat Fulham to the deal.

There aren't many youngsters that we've taken on loan (outfield) in my lifetime that have worked out, so I always lower my expectations for these type of signings.

He'd be a perfect house share for McB.
Just think of all the money he'd save in taxi fares to and from the training ground.

I wasn’t being sarcastic I genuinely didn’t know if it was a common move with them being rivals
I don’t think there’s any great hatred there. I can’t imagine Fulham fans holding a grudge against anyone.

Totally. Can see him recalled back at Christmas after a handful of EFL appearances...

Trust Tufty implicitly, but it has to be frustrating we're left with blooding the youth players of the top 6 again, rather than bringing through our own.. Sounds like we're down to Plan F as can't believe Chris would be going down this route unless he had exhausted all other avenues.

Wrong, these type of deals mean we can improve on the positions we need to, I.e keeper and upfront. I’m more than happy to get a loan player in if it gets us through this season and when we are a bit richer next summer after a second season in we start bulking the first team out. For now it’s a sensible move

Sensible if we have no other options - which by definition shows all our other plans have failed.

Tufty went on record of saying re: Henderson that he didn't like developing the youth players for another rival. I refuse to believe we'd be doing this unless we've exhausted all other options...

I don’t think we were ever in for a centre half, the option has arisen and it’s one too good to turn down with virtually zero risk, he isn’t a first team player so what’s the worry?

A thought re: why is he coming to us to be a squad player? Could it be that the opportunity to play under / for the best manager in the country would swing it for a player looking to build a career and learn as much as he can?

I've said it in relation to so many things since CW came in - transfers, negotiations, performances, the relationship with the board, the relationship with the fans, the relationship with the players, the attitude, the loanees, the contracts, the wages, wheeling and dealing, confidence, the humility, the bravery, the respect..... In every single aspect of his relationship with our club, things are different with Chris Wilder. That's why.

Think we'll see a lot of injuries across the league this season (hopefully I'm wrong) but if that does happen he'll get game time I'm sure.
Absolutely. For a start we have 3 games in the space of 6 days at the start of the season. It’s inconceivable that we will play the same 11. As you say, we were relatively unaffected by injuries last year, which is not forced to be the case this season.

The options in reserve or off the bench we’re very limited last season and this looks to be another very shrewd addition. I’m confident we will have a miles better squad this year even if the starting 11 may not be dramatically different.

Probably not that many, but the last three I can think of (Woodburn, Retsos and Carter-Vickers) all were.

I'll give you Woodburn, just didn't work out for him.

Retsos - i'm still disappointed we didn't get him permanently as he is a good player. Covid-19 ruined his chances. We were placed in lockdown about 5 weeks after he signed :(

Carter-Vickers - he was OK. Certainly not terrible. Did a job for us whilst here. We've certainly improved since him though.

Just checked back and other full internationals we've had on loan under Wilder are:

Scott Hogan & Mo Besic - success. Both were limited with chances but took their chances when presented.

Except he's absolute class. Either of you seen him play?

Only seen him play a couple of times for Wales and wasn’t very good. Must have something about him if he’s already an international and already moved to Chelsea.

So it's either this kid we're signing, or one of the Rizzel Kicks lads support Dem Blades?
