Realistically this lad is a long way down Chelsea’s pecking order even though he’s a young highly rated full international and that’s before Chelsea do a Chelsea and throw good money after bad on an over priced over hyped centre back next summer. So a potential permanent next year might not be as unlikely as some think but it would not be cheap

Guess we'll see won't we, but until he's played 20+ games we won't be any wiser - and like I say, I can't see him playing that often for us...

But what’s it matter if he doesn’t? If he doesn’t it means our unbelievable defence has been fit all season and we’ve had no worries.

Whether it's good or bad, I'm not convinced this strategy has any long term future.

But if Villa and Fulham keep kazumping our transfer/scouting - then we may have to get used to it...

It doesn't. My point is merely that going down this route shows how tough Tufty is finding it and is indicative of our current situation...

Top 6 clubs using us to see if their young prospects can cope at this level, isn't a great medium/long term strategy...

I don't understand the negative attitude to loaning quality players that we would almost certainly not be able to buy. A season is a long time. A second years loan is even possible, as we know full well.

Henderson just helped us finish a few places higher in the league.

We don't expect Ampadu to start if everyone else is fit, but he can still help us finish higher in the league when he does step in.

He might step in and be too good to leave out again.

Chelsea do sometimes sell young players just before they kick on and become world class - examples off the top of my head (some perhaps not worthy of “world class”):

but generally agree that an option to buy is very unlikely in this case.

If it's proven quality - you're spot on.

But he isn't. As wasn't Woodburn.

If he comes good, great. I hope he does. I just dont think we'll be pushing on and building for the future by going down this route...
