Yeah, I suppose his 3 goals did help ;-)

Although he did help us beat the pigs that year so maybe a bit harsh from me!

This deal of Doyle to Cardiff isn't dead and buried just yet.
That a gut feeling wiz or do you know something?
Il clutch onto any straw I can right now

So Chris Turner says there's only been 2 clubs bid on Doyle today.

Cardiff are one and the other unnamed one have put in a derisory offer.
So either we've put in a derisory offer or we've not bid at all

We did bid, but maybe not today

He was a Chesterfield player Yer fat dumplin' what did you expect?.

Oi!
Less of the fat dumplin'
You don't even know me. ;)

You know that was aimed at Turner.

I'm suprised that some are disappointed that a player who can only attract attention from a third division club and a side who aren't doing as well as Forest hasn't been signed.

Chesterfield have done well to plug a gap in their cash flow.

From what I have heard we tried to sign him Friday after offering what they wanted, Chesterfield then alerted clubs to our bid because basically they wanted to cash in but ideally not with us, as soon as everyone knew we had no chance.

Thats what I heard, its a shame really because that deal could have gone through days ago.. but I guess you don't want to give up your top scorer to a rival. cant say we wouldn't try hard to construct a move elsewhere like they have done, or at least I'd hope we would.

Also brought four in so there might still be a gap in the finances.

Chesterfield did the right thing off loading him for the money paid . Will turn out a one season wonder . Done still raw and under Mr Clough , a lot more to come and offer . In winners and losers , SUFC are winners.

It's "Mr. Done". Your obsequiousness is slipping of late ;)

He is a decent player, wrong move for him short term on a footballing note, but financially I'm sure he's set up nicely

You talking about Doyle? Average, average, average. Good season this one I'll grant you but anyone seeing him in Hibs colours a while back would tell you he was nothing special. Got his big move and probably set himself up for a few quid but he will be out on loan in League One by this time next season.

Looked to have a lot of attributes when I saw him, perhaps you're right, League one could be his level. He's very good at this level with a decent footballing side like Chesterfield. The way we play he would slot right in. Whether he could make the jumps to Championship is another question, as it is for others in our squad too.

Not surprised he's made a slow start at Cardiff, but that doesn't make him a bad player.

Slow start in terms of goals, but the fans have taken to him, workrate is the key thing for Doyle, it`s only this season he`s starting scoring. The only way we will get him is if Slade gets the sack, and the new manager dosen`t rate him. Stranger things have happened.

Good player out on loan at Preston and only an occasionally used sub. Didn't settle at parent club Cardiff after a sensational spell at Chesterfield when we were linked with him but would not compete with the lure of the Championship.

Exactly the type of background we should be looking at. He has obvious ability but only a possibility because of a tough spell to give us a chance of signing him.

We need a new striker to back up Sharp and Done. Sammon fine as 4th option maybe.

Somebody asked me at the last game who I'd be going for but my only answer was "no idea without knowing the budget". Doyle would surely be within our budget. surely. We have to think positively.
