Eoin Doyle

I always thought he was bit mesh up at Hibs, often looking like he lacked the strength to kick the ball with enough force to get it across the line . I also thought they'd eat him alive down here so am stunned by his consistency. At£2m we know the score, so hope he goes to Celtic , pushes ( can't believe I'm writing this) Leigh Griffiths down the pecking order and we snap him up for half the fee.

yeah fuck signing a striker that scores, lets sign someone like Forte.
Forte does score at the minute. His failure with us tells you more about the sideways football we've been sworn to over the last few years than it does about Fortes ability.

I don't think he's a good footballer by the way, it's just that if you create chances, average footballers can take them.

..but I'm told a deal for Doyle to go to local L1 rivals Sheffyoo is "ninety percent" done - with Higdon coming the other way."

Not clear yet for how much or if Higdon signs on loan or permanently.

Usual source so take it or leave it as you choose.

Perhaps there is a Father Christmas after all

Think we are more likely to sign Jimmy Ryan who is a box to box midfielder with a good shot and highly rated by CFC fans. Chesterfield's line up at MK Dons could give us a hint on who will be leaving CFC in the JTW

Do you mean we have more chance of signing Jimmy Hagan?

I take your point generally but not in Forte's case. He was given service when he was at the Lane, but after a decent start he was woeful. His performance against Carlisle was a disgrace. In fact, there's an argument that had he actually taken some of the chances that came his way Wilson would not have been fired.

A workmate who is a CFC fan is surprised at how many goals Doyle has scored. Not really one of CFC's best players, just that he is on a "purple" patch. Remember David Johnson scoring a lot of goals for Forest in 2002-03 but he didnt do much after that season. We must not read too much of the goalscorers charts. My CFC workmate thinks Doyle wont be missed when he leaves and with the attention he is getting , he is happy for CFC to take the money quoted on the papers. Remember we sold Ian Benjamin, Oliver Tebily and Wayne Quinn for fees that were much higher than they were really worth

The guy will turn out to be a one season wonder , and we have not got the spare cash to take the risk. We do need someone tried and tested who can hit the ground running.

Agreed ...... regrettably a player of this description will cost more than £50K and therefore I shall not be holding my breath !!
We are currently sleepwalking into mid-table obscurity ....

All is not lost on the transfer front. The club have splashed the cash on a iPad for Mr Clough brother who is trawling the PFA players out of work list and i am sure he will find the right players for us:cool:

Is Doyle worth this much? Not seen him play
Saw him v Peterborough. On that performance alone I'd say he's a 500k-1million player, but only seen that one performance to be fair.

So a 500k bid with add ons wouldnt be daft at this stage. I don't see cardiff a a big lure for him, but Celtic would be.

I've heard he doesn't want to move out the area I'll be very surprised if he goes up to Scotland. Same goes for Cardiff, the pigs and Rothrum however is a different story.

According to Sky Cardiff and Derby interested. Chesterfield's valuation £1-2m.

Yep that was followed by Chesterfield being confident Jimmy ryan will sign a new contract.

Chezzy forum indicating Ryan has turned down yesterdays offer put in front of him

This from Clayx on BM

"Either Paul cook hasn't spoke to chris turner in the last 6 weeks or he's lying
smile.gif

Fact: after CFC played against Crawley away(day after our game v notts county) a game clough was at, he authorised our initial bid for the player (£250k) this was declined.
Fact: early December we upped our bid to £500k, a bid matched by Rotherham, this was declined again.
Fact: Chris turner got back to us and said that if we upped our bid by similar AND let higdon join them, that would be accepted by CFC. Rotherham countered by matching the increased bid, adding Matt Derbyshire to there proposal.
Fact: 28th December the deal was struck between the clubs and was set to be completed on January 1st, derby and Celtic then weighed in with bids, Bristol and Bournemouth have also enquired, the latter sending CFC old boy and now Bournemouth scout, Steve fletcher to run the rule.
The player has indicated he doesn't want to move away having just bought a new property and become a father since the start of the season, WE ARE STILL IN THE FIGHT FOR THE PLAYER, our deal is still there, for some reason that neither myself and the people I know at the proact can't understand is just how much cook wants Higdon, he is our bargaining chip at present, there's a reason on other club has got the deal over the line, the powers that be at the proact like to say they want £2miliion, but they know that won't happen that's why they accepted our 3rd offer

As an aside, jimmy Ryan has again refused a new contract and was listed as injured at the weekend and last night, HE ISNT INJURED."

Could be a test of how 'close' this Wednesday takeover deal is, Doyle could be their statement signing to say we have cash now.

Don't know if anyone has seen Doyle play (I haven't) but is he just having a 'one of them seasons' and is a club going to pay big money on an average in form player? Or is he worth his £2 million price tag?

Scroll through this thread I commented on him after his excellent performance v Posh.

He's not worth 2m but probably 500k-1m which is probably what they'll get

According to The Sun On Sunday (NOTW), Clough's been told it'll take £1m to get Doyle.

Sounds like nobody knows what's going on so numbers are being plucked out of thin air again.

Just seen Chesterfield have signed a new striker! Does this maybe pave the way for Doyle to move to us?
I'm not convinced that these goals this season from Doyle are more than a flash in the pan,but more the merrier i say,get him in if we can afford him.
