Ricky, there's dirty, then there's shoulder shrugging,
"What me guv?" so-called professionalism. It's often been commented on these pages that we need a couple of beasts as central defenders, hopefully with a bit of mobility and pace between them. My take is very few will mind if they see this area of our game shored up and a no-go area for the opposition. Getting out of this division is the priority, and if it takes the footballing version of a brick shit-house (or two) to restore confidence to our less than secure defence, I doubt anyone will complain. From there, confidence might grow throughout the team, knowing we're capable of shutting down this division's rated forwards allowing us to concentrate on penetrating the opposing defence. I'd be happy with a
"Take no prisoners" philosophy, can't see how anyone would have a problem with that.
We lack guile, the nearest we currently we have on our books who could produce this quality are either Coutts or Baxter, but neither convincingly produce on a regular basis. So a cunning midfielder with an eye for threading a pass, plus a forward tried and tested at this level, who'll know how to keep the opposition defenders on their toes potentially causing goal-scoring chances to be created......just my two-penneth worth as regards additions during the summer.
