DUNFERMLINE HAVE fixed up another pre-season friendly, this time against Bryan Robson’s Sheffield United at East End Park on Saturday, July 21.

The Pars also face Bristol Rovers the following Tuesday and Nottingham Forest two days after that.

Club chairman John Yorkston said, “We are still trying to arrange another Saturday game and hopefully will get foreign opposition for that.

dunfermline friendly cancelled

Aye... it does look that way. This from the Dunfermline official site:

Dunfermline Athletic v Sheffield United
Saturday 21st July 2007 CANCELLED
Gate prices: - £10 and £5 concessions / U16s

The above fixture has been cancelled since it has not been possible for Sheffield United to fix up other games in Scotland.

The two sides relegated from their top flights tried to arrange a pre season friendly at East End Park on Saturday 21st July. Sheffield United were relegated on the final Sunday of the English Premiership season when they lost 2-1 to fellow strugglers Wigan Athletic.

They then lost their Manager Neil Warnock who has since been replaced by Bryan Robson. This would have been the second successive season that the 90 times capped for England, Robson, had brought his team to play Dunfermline in pre season. Last season a John Hartson goal gave Robson and West Bromwich Albion a 1-0 victory.

The Blades are 8-1 favourites to win the Championship, second favourites behind Charlton Athletic whose price is 6-1.

Cheers for the heads up magic and welcome to the forum :)

That's annoying. I fancied a trip up there too. By the way, is it true that the pigs are playing Brumagem at home on the same day as we play the Scabs in a 'friendly'? A mate of mine who happens to have the terrible affliction of being a pig oinked it to me the other day.
