'Dressing room will be split'

Apparently to stop the much guess at split int dressing room Ched has agreed to cover the whole squads decorating for the full season.

It says very little about our budget. And which team in the Championship won't be trying to sign a proven goalscorer below the age of 30? And how many of them are there to go around?

The list goes down as far as players on 11 goals for the season so far. Some really unimpressive records on there (Assombalonga signed for Forest in 2014 and has scored less than thirty for them since) relative to the money they'd demand. There just isn't a list of young players who are guaranteed to score you goals, having done it routinely at that level, and affordable for a newly promoted side. They don't exist.

He's not interested in any info. It's a very thinly disguised attack on McCabe. One trick pony.

Be honest ST , do you find the re-signing of Ched inspiring ? I don't. Injured since March and loads of negative baggage. I think it makes our Co-Owner & Club look "small-time" , as if we can't cast our net a bit wider. IMHO it hardly fits with Wilder's blueprint for success.

I'm demanding nothing , I'm reacting to the potential signature of an injury-prone player who failed with us at Championship level last time.
I accept Poker Blade's point about the dearth of affordable proven Championship strikers.
But since arriving , Wilder has picked up plenty of decent players with at least the potential to succeed in the Championship.
I was hoping (not demanding) he would unearth some more over the coming weeks & months.
Unless Ched's absence from the pitch since March is kidology , signing him is a retrograde step.

Unfair ST.
I am interested in all info. I don't "attack" McCabe for the sake of it like some on here. But I have mentioned his previous misjudgements. IMHO he is a true Blade who's sunk real money into the Club , he's not dishonest , but guilty of some howling errors over the past 10 years.
The recent history makes me keep a weather eye on the nature of the Club's ambition.
And I am no "one-trick pony" , I post on all sorts of subjects unconnected with McCabe.

If signing a player who has terrific ability and a career goal average of better than 1 goal every 3 games and HUGE motivation to succeed for Sheffield United, for not a lot of money, is a "retrograde step", then I'm just lglad you aren't the manager mate, I really am.

And, you've written this like we've spent the money on Evans and there won't be any more left to spend on anyone else! This is only the first of several summer signings that will transform the team from being a very good League 1 team to a very good Championship team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us go out and sign another striker, plus another goalkeeper, full back, central defender and winger.

So don't fret about the signing of Evans mate - he's just another piece in a very big jigsaw - and he might fit - or he might be in the wrong place.

I'd like to have your optimism about Ched so can you throw a positive light on why he hasn't played for at least 2 months ?

He has a heel injury that prevents him playing. If we are not satisfied this has cleared up or can be treated, we won't sign him. This is why United are not shouting about it from the rooftops. He is not our player and he will not become so, if his injury can't be sorted.

May be a retrograde step. If we sign him assuming he passes the medical. Who knows? Who knows who Wilder is looking at or how much he has to spend? The club haven't said anything as yet it's media talk.

The thing is, confirmed or not, we'll all be all over it again once we know, whatever our opinions.

To me it makes no statement about our budgets for next season.
