'Dressing room will be split'

All advertisments are hidden for logged in members, why not log in/register?

I thought I read before that Wilder asks each player, or at least some of the players, their thoughts on any potential new signings, in order to see if they'll fit in etc.

Either way, Chris is not stupid or a pushover, so if anything was to happen, it wouldn't have a long lasting effect.

No you wouldn't but if you're a pro you just get on with it.
I can't stand some people at work but we all work as a team and do well.
Andy Cole and Teddy Sherrignham didn't get on personally but what a partnership on the field.
Pro's just get in with it. If the team is winning then everyone is happy.

Also regards your comment above, rascists and serial wife beaters have had very successful careers in the top flight. When their player is really good. the club, players and fans conveniently turn a blind eye to indiscretions.

George Long is the exception. There will be people behind the scenes - kitman, groundsman, doctors, physios, coaches - who worked with Evans too.

George Long made his debut in May 2011 at Swansea. After Long it's Scougall whose first appearance was in January 2014 then Reed who made his debut in March 2014. I'm excluding Kieron Freeman and John Brayford from this as they were on loan before that but joined permanently after.

Current squad league debuts by season:
2010/11: Long
2011/12: no-one
2012/13: no-one
2013/14: Freeman, Brayford (loan spells), Scougall, Reed
2014/15: Basham, Freeman, Brayford (permanent deals), Coutts, Done, McNulty, K Wallace
2015/16: Sharp (3rd spell), Whiteman
2016/17: Moore, O'Connell, Wright, Ebanks-Landell (loan), Wilson, Hussey, Lafferty, Clarke, Fleck, Riley (loan), Chapman (loan), Duffy, O'Shea (loan), Hanson, Lavery

I make that 15 players with debuts this season out of 27 players with at least one league appearance. That's the extent of Wilder's overhaul.
 
There seems to be plenty getting on the morality band wagon. I seem to remember Rooney sleeping with a prostitute whilst with Coleen. Didn't stop him becoming England captain. Didn't half the Man United team, most with partners or wives have a Christmas party where lots of girls were invited and it descended into a mass orgy? So many tabloid stories of players cheating on wives. International players too. It's sadly part of life, not my life and I don't condone it, but it happens. What Ched did was pretty sordid, but if he is signed and Chris and Alan get him back to full fitness, then that's ok with me.

One of the many reasons why i think he should be avoided, we've moved on since Ched let us down. As much as i feel that he deserves to have a career in football, i don't think that it should be with us anymore.

If we were to take him back and give him a chance again, then it should've been at the latest last summer. Once he signed elsewhere, i think it should've closed the issue for us.

However, footballing wise, in form and fit he's a talented goalscorer with a lot of the attributes which we want and need next season.

Compared to £10 Million Jordan Rhodes, £500k is a bargain, but then again, Jordan Rhodes hasn't the history that Ched has.

Personally i'd steer clear... but he ticks a lot of the footballing boxes for us, perhaps the perfect striker for us... if he can get fit and find form.

Disagree. Jordan is a slapper with plastic tits and a barrow load of sprogs with loads of different blokes.

Not interested about the convictions theyve been quashed
What is a fact is that his fitness is suspect and 5 goals in 25 games hardly sets the footballing world alight.
Theres better availiable is he proven in the 2nd tier no.

I mentioned Sharp earlier in this thread too. He was with us until 2010 and although on loan at Donny he may well have shared some pre season with Ched who was signed in 2009.

What with Sharp, Long and Dorris the Tea Lady, it will be like a big home coming.
 
I would think a lot of footballers out there would have symathy for Evans' plight (putting aside the fact he was a moron for putting himself in such a seedy position). That will include players in our squad.

I think after Wilder success with Coutts, Freeman and others this season he deserves to be given a chance.

As I've said if Wilder thinks he can get more out of him he's a better judge than you, me or anyone else on this forum.
 



Wilder will know the actual reality of how a squad will react to this. Especially our own squad.

It's quite a sweeping statement.... any facts or sauces to back it up..

Chris Wilder is many things, including :
  • A massive Blades fan.
  • An ex-player.
  • A husband.
  • A father of two daughters.
  • An astute manager.

It's a given that CW will have done due diligence as to the suitability on all of his potential signings. His track record has been exceptional and I have complete faith in his choices - including this one.
 
Another angle ...........what does signing Ched say about our budget for strikers to keep us in the Championship next season ?

You can tell me Fleck was a free transfer etc , but shouldn't we acquire at least one goalscorer who's proven at the next level and still young enough as opposed to "over 30 , slowing down and on his way down" (even if he can still bag 30 in L1) ?

It's gonna cost though. A championship striker in their prime is not cheap at all.

Even his wife won't agree with everything he does. It's allowed not to agree without breaking your trust for him.
